    I'm making my today, my dandelion s are from last spring, they soaked for a year. However I didn't dry mine, I put olive oil over them. I'm doing the wood stove double boiler method with two different size crock pot innerds I'll let you know what happens. Last year our library group learned to make dandelion jelly. It tasted a lot like honey. It was very good ❤

      I did make some dandelion jelly a couple of years ago. I did freeze some of it and haven’t taken them out of the freezer yet. The jelly tastes wonderful with jalapeño cream cheese on crackers! It does taste like honey! It’s wonderful!

    Our yard is bright yellow right now! I’ve always wanted to try this . Do you rinse the flowers off at all before drying? Also, what is the shelf life of this salve?

    Oooo.... I watched a different video where she didn't mention drying them before infusing them... They're about halfway through the 4 weeks... what is gonna happen to them?
    Also: Can I fill a salve like this into tins? Or is glass better? What about light? Is it better if they are protected from light?

    • @abbeyverigin
      @abbeyverigin  Рік тому +1

      It will likely just have a shorter shelf life! You can definitely use tins. Best to store somewhere dark and cool :)

    So neat! Is there a second type of oil that mixes well with OO? Maybe castor or Jojoba? Or would those additional oils through off the recipe?

    • @danih7577
      @danih7577 3 місяці тому

      I don’t believe so based on various recipes. I’m using avocado oil and black seed oil. After soaking , I’m going to add a little castor oil since it’s the best for herniated cervical discs for me.

    Thank you so much for teaching us how to make tallow balm. I'm always looking for clean, easy products for my skin. Do you have any hair care? Shampoo and conditioner type. My hair at 67 suffers greatly. I often use egg yolk and kefir in my hair.

    • @abbeyverigin
      @abbeyverigin  Рік тому

      For hair care, I don’t have a recipe for shampoo/conditioner. I often just use baking soda and apple cider vinegar. I haven’t heard of using kefir, but I’ve been curious about egg yolk. I do make my own dry shampoo and a texture spray for styling.

    • @diannemiller4754

    Can the dandelon dry in the over very low not burn

    • @danih7577
      @danih7577 3 місяці тому

      Yes as low as possible and crack the door. The point is to dry it enough that no moisture is left to cause a mold. The flower heads hold alot of moisture, but it’s an important part of the flower. Dry slowly , i combo a towel on my table for drying and turning over and a little oven time.

      You absolutely can/should depending where you harvest. Where I harvest is quite secluded so I don’t feel it’s excess art. Just make sure you dry them well after washing :)
