I am 66 years old now and was lucky enough to be there on the day and I have been to loads of live concerts over the years and I can’t recall another performer who could work the crowd like Freddie,
My grandparents went to this concert and they said it was something that’s so once in a lifetime that it can’t be put into words the emotions and feelings of going to one of the biggest concerts ever preformed
Is it fair to say Queen’s Live Aid performance is arguably the greatest 20 minutes in music history? It’s definitely up there, as is Queen as one of the greatest bands of all time.
It's most definitely the greatest in music history. Nothing can come close to it. Be it amount of people gathered, singing along, common ground in terms of music in general. Not even including the performance in and off itself. Inarguably, the most significant and greatest performance of music ever.
@@timbaud5704I don’t doubt it was outstanding, but I don’t think we can really rank a performance that went unrecorded as none of us can actually see or hear it for ourselves.
Possibly. One I really love, though it is actually about 10 minutes, is Lynard Skynard doing Freebird at Knebworth, England 1976. Its the famous show where they opened for the stones and walked down the special "tongue" walkway/stage set up for the stones and did one of the all time great bits of live guitar work I've ever heard. Also, there are some times when The Grateful Dead were really ON and did something spectacular in improvisation. But this one is probably what I'd personally go with.
He loved having the audience participate in the music. Queen was one of the first bands to really understand that idea, that it was okay for the audience to sing along with the band, that it connects them to the band and the music.
The attention to detail in these scenes is amazing. Everything from the way Mercury sang the songs to little things like his adjusting the sound before breaking into “Bohemian Rhapsody” and the half empty Pepsi/beer cups on top of the piano are immaculate. This is a masterclass in cinematography.
They must've changed something, cause a lot of scenes with the camera sucked. Liked when they was talking in a restaurant, and the camera would be pointed to someone, as someone is talking...

I watched the Elvis movie immediately before watching this and without question this movie blew Elvis and any other band biopic out of the water by unforgivable standards. One of the greatest movies of all time without question.
I heard it was heavily dramatized and saturated. And this was the best part of the movie. That ain’t a bad thing, but I’ve heard the movie is trying to hard to shoehorn in the other band members and half of the movie Freddie is dead
@@The-Legend-of-P I would disagree with all of that. Shoehorn the other band members in? That’s silly. The movie is a bio pic of Freddie Mercury, it is kind of important to include Queen.

Massive Queen fan, went to see this 9 times in the cinema. Best biopic movie ever. From start to finish loved every minute and watching this scene in full instead of the edited version in the movie even spectacular
I love myself a long movie. In fact, longer movies are my favorite type. So I'm glad we get the whole performance here. Wouldn't have minded this to be in the original theatrical cut.
My favourite part of the movie is that when he talks to the band before they go on, you can hear Dire Straits blasting Sultans of Swing. I recorded the original concert when it went to air, and this is totally what they would have heard. I still have the old VHS somewhere. I love Dire Straits way more than Queen but their performance was excellent, and they'd been off the radar for a while.
Just watched the original concert, and they absolutely nailed it in the film, to be honest I think this is better, just the way they created the atmosphere ❤ it
If anyone says this band is not the greatest of all time they are crazy. Not historically accurate but a great movie. Brain May one of the best guitarists of all time. I wish John Deacon would come out for one last performance. Roger Taylor top 10 drummers ever. There are no words for Freddie. Simply great.
When Freddie (Malek) played the audience, I feel like the movie displayed the group in awe, and the participation of the audience so much better than what the camera technology would allow at the time. Because any recording of this just doesn't capture the sentimental values that the audience experienced (ofc, because it wasn't able to), but it so good to see it in the movie.

0:39, when Freddie pauses..............I believe Gandalf referred to that as "the deep breath before the plunge....." Then, THE MAGIC HAPPENS!!! One of THE GREATEST live performances of all time!!!
Imagine being the guys that followed Queen at Live Aid….they stood no chance.
Well, the very person that did just that, was David Bowie
Poor Bowie. He had no clue how to even try to equal that performance.@@davebain1982
The two on that scaffolding. Best seats ever
Fun fact, The two people up higher on the scaffolding are former queen members lol
Rami malek s performance as Freddie Mercury is fantastic. Fantastic actor. He nailed the role fantastically.
Im only 17, never had the chance to see that, but what an era.
84-85 is the peak years of the music history
this scene alone secured him the oscar, he nailed everything TO A T
I watched the Elvis movie immediately before watching this and without question this movie blew Elvis and any other band biopic out of the water by unforgivable standards. One of the greatest movies of all time without question.
I heard it was heavily dramatized and saturated. And this was the best part of the movie. That ain’t a bad thing, but I’ve heard the movie is trying to hard to shoehorn in the other band members and half of the movie Freddie is dead
In my opinion, of all the greatest artists in the world, Freddie simply had the greatest and most magical charisma... that's why
If you heard Freddie was dead for half the movie, you heard incorrectly.
@@snerdterguson what about the other stuff?
@@The-Legend-of-P I would disagree with all of that. Shoehorn the other band members in? That’s silly. The movie is a bio pic of Freddie Mercury, it is kind of important to include Queen.
No matter i watch and listen, its like listening forvthe first time. Music is heaven
Watched the movie many times and yet, I still want to watch it again!!!
Incredible if you think about, coming from very small clubs to massive stadiums, they are an incredible band
Queen is foundation of modern music we had today, Freddie his legacy it will live forever ❤
When I first saw this ending clip of this movie. I was like.. wait, i already watched this somewhere.. even the hand gestures and how he sits in front of the piano.. i said oh my god! This live aid the exact Queen live aid performance! I was screaming the whole time. Totally goosebumps!! 🥹🥹
Fantastic band. The reaction of his closest people on stage as he performed is amazing. So sorry about what happened to him in reality.
My husband and I cried watching this movie. Well done.
Me too..Very nice movie..And it's being told mentor Bryan May/Roger Taylor & the real producer of the band Queen Jim Beach
18:36 you hear those people, they love 'em, and you thought they would never be big or famous, now you must admit you were wrong and they are huge and loved by all
They were big 10 years before live aid ffs…they just got bigger in the 80s
Considering the unbelievable vocal talent of the man he was portraying, this was one of the most impressive feats of acting I've ever seen. The amount of talent you need to have in order to sound even close to Freddie is insane.
Close?
It was Freddie!
He just mimed over it!
Rami Didn't sing. Its playback.
@@bluebell3720 they used a mix of the cast and the original band members voices
@@steelslinky9
Anything Freddie had sang they used his recording
Marcel sang what Freddie hadnt such as messing up one of the songs
I think its only the scene with the cats he sang
@@steelslinky9
You can compare the live aid scenes they are exactly the same
Massive Queen fan, went to see this 9 times in the cinema.
They had plenty of songs that you wont ever forget but for me radio gaga hits different bc its my favorite queen song
Just watched the original concert, and they absolutely nailed it in the film, to be honest I think this is better, just the way they created the atmosphere ❤ it
He knew this one was going to be the one he's remembered for
If anyone says this band is not the greatest of all time they are crazy. Not historically accurate but a great movie. Brain May one of the best guitarists of all time. I wish John Deacon would come out for one last performance. Roger Taylor top 10 drummers ever. There are no words for Freddie. Simply great.
Exactly. Apart from that, I don't think I know another band with such an education :)
It's pretty accurate though
I love queen but the greatest band is the beatles
When Freddie (Malek) played the audience, I feel like the movie displayed the group in awe, and the participation of the audience so much better than what the camera technology would allow at the time. Because any recording of this just doesn't capture the sentimental values that the audience experienced (ofc, because it wasn't able to), but it so good to see it in the movie.
I remember watching this live as a teenager. Over 1 Billion people around the world watched Live Aid and if memory servers me, 100K people were at Wimbledon Stadium that day. You could have passed out and not fallen it was so packed. It was the most amazing concert ever done.
For a start, it was Wembley Stadium and there was 72,000 people there
I was born in 1992 and listening to Freddie Mercury since 2022. God-gifted voice was taken to quick. Your voice can't be dublicated and your songs live in me. Thanks for your soothing voice. Love you QUEEN. 😢
I've paid my dues
Time after time
I've done my sentence
But committed no crime
And bad mistakes
I've made a few
I've had my share of sand
Kicked in my face
But I've come through
And we mean to go on and on and on and on
We are the champions, my friends
And we'll keep on fighting till the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions of the World
I've taken my bows
And my curtain calls
You brought me fame and fortune
And everything that goes with it
I thank you all
But it's been no bed of roses
No pleasure cruise
I consider it a challenge before
The human race
And I ain't gonna lose
And we mean to go on and on and on and on
We are the champions, my friends
And we'll keep on fighting till the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions of the World
We are the champions, my friends
And we'll keep on fighting till the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions of the World
One of the most incredible concert movies that have featured one of the most popular concerts, Live Aid. My Grandparents and my mother were there to experience the true live aid.
❤
I was born at the concert, inside the stadium. It was a wonderful experience that I'll never forget. My mom and dad were not going to miss it for the world, not even my birth.
A wonderful experience that you’ll never forget??? Yeh of course, coz you remember being born don’t you 🙄🙄
🧢
Sure bruv
yes we all believe you
I was born in 94 and wish I was old enough to have watched this live, literally can’t imagine how amazing it must’ve been for everybody, no matter who you were to just come enjoy one of the greatest bands together
I am 68 years old and i am lucky that i was there
I was never a fan of Queen, but after watching a film, I became passionate with their music ❤❤❤
😊😊😊
If this doesn't give you goosebumps...I question your human credentials.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Exceptional performance by Rammi! Get the feels the electricity ❤
"Hammer to fall" is such a happy upbeat song! Love it!
Rami Malek did an outstanding job in this movie, I honestly can't think of someone better suited for this role either.
Chilling; downright AMAZING! 77 years old, here I sit, crying over Freddie!
Still amazing and fun.
Miss you Freddy...
Truly moving and profound film. Excellent performer a from the entire legendary group! ❤
i loved them... this scene is so amazing!! i felt i was there, in the greatest show, the first actor is unbelieve, strong, so smart... sorry a lot of words.. I LOVED IT!!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Simple, beautiful and incomparable, my skin crawls, I repeat this scene over and over again
Queen was the best live band I can remember and I'm 73 yrs old. Been to other concerts but no one could do what Queen did. Way ahead of their time from their start.
Even if its been years queen still is the most best band in the whole world and still lives until today ❤❤
I’m glad people who were there got to actually experience this moment. It’s so beautiful and so full of positive energy just towards the crowd. I know it was amazing! 🤘
A great tribute to both Freddie Mercury and his band Queen
Rami had said in an interview that this was the very first scene they shot. Talk about nerve-wracking living up to this iconic moment. Let me say, they nailed it!! Rami deserved the Oscar. That movie had me literally weeping in the theatre.
My grandparents also went here with me and told me they went to Queens concert in 1978 R.I.P. Freddy
Rami was sensational in this film!! He deserved every award he got. He truly did Freddy justice💜
