The unfortunate thing about Modern Scream Fortress is because new maps are being added every year the Map selection keeps growing and growing so there's more contracts to slog through every year. Yeah we love to do ones like Harvest Event and pretty much the whole 2018 line but we also have to do Ghost Fort twice, Precipice and now Graveyard. In 2024 there will be a third community maps path which is a truly scary thought only fitting of Halloween.
Graveyard isn't even that bad, its just that the contract takes fucking forever to finish, the bonus objectives can't be completed as a ghost, and the objectives that do exist reward barely any CP. Just like... replace the surviving 500 damage objective with capturing the point, and the whole thing would be way less of a headache.
It still shocks me that they never like made it so that your progress is kept. Why even do the extra stars if they're gonna be erase anyways. I like it gives more items but really what's the point in finishing it beyond that.
I remember playing on Ghost Fort, with a lagbot slowing everything to a crawl, and both teams kept capping back and forth every time Merasmus showed up. Eventually, me and several other people just started screaming in voice chat "Please, just let the other team cap! They're closer to winning this than we are and we just want this game to end!" But merasmus was showing up after like, 20 seconds of the enemy team having capped the point, so it went on FOREVER.
As someone who lives in the midwest, I feel you on that internet stuff. Our family was lucky to get a network set up near our location, and even then it's only about 15-20 mb/s download. When call of duty needs an update on our xbox, i almost faint at the size of the update file each time
I feel you, my near decade old wifi box is having a hard time keeping up my ping and i have to play on this also 10 years old laptop that's half broken only having 30mb left in the storage
This year, I noticed that the bots would often lag the server after getting booted. The bots got kicked most of the time, but there was at least once or twice that the team was complacent with the bot and let them stay (use the status command to get their real name). Honestly, valve should make it so players always use their steam name in games like TF2 (might slow down the name stealing program).
Scream Fortress this year was such a shit show and really compounded the problem with 90% of the contracts... and the way the Soul Gargoyle works for that matter. The bot crisis came in full force and if you weren't going from game to game searching for an uninfested map, you were constantly having to kick them out of a normal match. This made certain maps practically unplayable.
I recently started playing TF2 and was aware of the the sheer amount of hackers and bots beforehand, which is why I didn't even bother playing the Halloween event because I would just end up hating it and the game. On the bright side I guess, I've decided I'm going to main sniper thanks to you and your videos. And the dragon's fury has made me really enjoy playing as pyro, and think of the class more positively.

i personally had a stupid amount of fun doing this years contracts with my bf tagging along. it was my first experience in scream fortress, and honestly i didnt mind the bots as much as others. so i mostly was just having a lovely time with him being happy i was enjoying myself

At this point, Valve HAS to be responsible for the bots. They’ve pushed out so many small patches but have just so happened to not do anything to stop the DDOS.
You die when you turn to big size on a ramp or near an object, and you killed yourself with the wrap assassin ball because a lot of ramps have huge bounding boxes around them that make the ball explode instantly
My Halloween experience was that i learned that you can overload jump with the Loose Cannon. This lead me to do nothing but doing that, shooting me at the enemy with a shield whilst trying to meele someone. Or i just go medic-

I also somehow was able to complete the camper van helsing set and got an abundance of pyro cosmetics. It was fun when you weren't being steamrolled, cheated/ddossed on and were moving at 10 FPS, but was a solid year for me
Dude your Halloween video was so much better than JUUDOLF's this year... your experience was way more similar to mine, except I played too much of the same classes, but what matters is that we had fun! (also I love how obvious it is that this is your first time playing scream fortress and judging things that have been part of this time of the year since like 2012)
13:11 idk if anyone said this yet but iirc the reason why you died there is because some maps have weird hitbox(?) Areas and it causes the ball to hit that and damage the scout if up close, don't take my word tho.
I noticed that a lot of the drops are considered to be craftable hats (even if untradable). Somehow during the crafting and transmuting of others I was able to get the owl-head and the same owl pet. Was pretty happy about that. The new Muertos map was the best in show, and the servers+experience was pretty much like this. Top scoring against steamrolls or bots.
Idk why but for some reason almost all of my Scream Fortress hats are uncraftable, even though it doesn't say anywhere in their descriptions that they are.
Back in 2017 was the first time I started playing TF2, and it was during the Scream Fortress Event, it felt super terrible to play as I would always die and couple that with being a F2P at the time it was a horrible experience, it wasn’t until 4 years later I picked up the game again and started to enjoy it

My scream fortress contract loot was pretty good I would say. I got 2 really good cosmetics, those being the beep man (the robot head for engie) and the sir shootsalot (the owl head for sniper)

More stars means you can start multiple contracts at once but nothing more.

They should really make it so you can do them in any order, needing to unlock contracts by doing a different contract first is annoying.

The mini spell tends to kill you on weird map geometry if you clip into it when it wears off and you grow into an object (even the skybox)

Australia (for me at least when I play) barely had any bots in any Sydney server, and never got ddosed during Halloween, and it was great
