Just used your 6N/4BG combo and let me say, you have changed the home hair dying game! Finally the chocolate brown I've been searching salon and box for. Dark and sultry inside, with a tease of brighter chocolate hues under lights. Bright and rich chocolate outside in the daylight. I've been looking for something to give my bland, dark brown color some depth and personality that doesn't darken it even more. This is it!! Thank you!
Does this also work when you have Some gray roots? Because I see a very light Color combined with a dark Color, I never heard of this before, and because I am starting to have gray hair I am scared that the outgrow is going to be much lighter?
I just did this exact thing on my virgin black hair and even though it didn't lift it as much as yours did, I'm still in love with the color. I'm thinking about putting slightly lighter highlights on top!
Thanks for the video! I just finish dying my hair using the same formula. Pretty easy because I have natural black and coarse Mexican hair, my hair was virgin hair, came out exactly like hers, just without the dimensions because I don’t have any highlights. Love how it turned out❤️😊
I just tried this combo: 9N+4BG on my dark brown almost black hair. The turn out is pretty good! My roots really soaked up the color and it is more on the brown side rather than on the redish like hers. I think with a few washes as she said the color might change, we’ll see! But I am happy with the result. I suggest to comb the product through your hair during the application, it’s the only thing I wish i did :)
Thank you so much for this video! My balayage was growing out and the blonde against my jet black hair was too stark of a difference for me. I followed the method in this video and it really is the perfect chocolate shade and balanced my hair out so nicely. Thank you for all of your videos, I appreciate your recommendations especially since we have the same skin, hair, and eye color. Much love. ❤
So glad I saw your comment, i haven’t gone to get my hair touched up after having my baby. And my hair is as you described yours (highlights). Going to try this out and hope it turns out well! Fingers crossed 🤞🏼
So excited you finally made this video! Thanks, so helpful! Would love if next time you dye your hair with 6N you make another one to show us the difference. Just a thought. Thanks again 💜
When you mix hair colours of different levels together, they create a different level (if that makes sense 🙈) so if you add level 4 and level 6 together = level 5. And another example is if you mix a level 5 with a level 7, you would get a level 6 etc etc. Basically you add the numbers together, then divide by 2. The BG is the chocolate tone, and the N is the neutral colour. (So basically, it is neutralising the chocolate tone slightly) I suggest you try "medium chocolate brown" in John Frieda, instead of buying 2 separate boxes, you can just buy one that is the same colour (as it is a level 5). Will save money x
I agree I used 5B on my hair which is the JF medium choc brown and it’s similar to hers but maybe a little more on the red side. Mostly use it to cover my greys really 😮 but have had a balayage in the past. Light golden brown is even more red, so let’s be more forewarned on that one! X
Thank you so much . I have been searching all over the internet for exactly what you just gave me . The perfect chocolate brown hair color. I’m going out to buy the product today and do my hair.
I’m Half Filipino too with your same natural hair color! I also bleached my hair and trying to find a video about dying my hair back to brunette. This was the perfect video I didn’t know I needed! ❤️ thank u
Omg !!!! I’m so happy you posted this!! You got me on the L’Oréal mega browns and they don’t make it anymore 😢😢😢 your the best at hair ! Thank you so much!
My hair is also naturally very dark and I have always wanted to lighten it up a little but nothing crazy, so this is the perfect chocolate tone. I Love it and thank you so much for sharing the colors you use to obtain it. I will be ordering them on amazon yay! I'm excited :)
Destiny Caballero so I have medium/dark natural brown hair. This turned my hair so much lighter at the roots. I highly recommend just going with the darker color only to achieve her hair color if your hair is not BLACK like hers
You are out here doing the Lord's work! I'm so happy 😊 I need to get rid of the blonde in my hair and I was not looking forward to figuring out how and which brand. And you have the prettiest hair #GOALS thanks for sharing. It's super helpful!!
Me 2vim scared but want chocolate for winter tired of blonde, roots are choc to blk, so I hope this works even if I strand in a lil at tyme, I think it will blend without over processing??
It was on the bleached hair when I first did this. But my hair hasn't been bleached in over a year, so a major portion of my hair has grown out and is black - which has lifted evenly from the color.
I’ve heard really good things about JF hair color. This color looks so natural and is perfectly enhancing your features, eyes and skin tone. Super flattering & beautiful on you. I think I’m going to go one shade up from yours and do what you did mixing with an N. Thanks so much for this video. I just watched the ending and omg it looks amazing!!!! I was so nervous with the lighter N. Seems like it’s a fool proof product! Great job!! You should be a model. You’re so pretty. Thanks for not torturing us in the bathroom lol, you looked flawless in the process. Makes me feel confident I can do this without being a hot mess dripping everywhere and destroying a bathroom. Lol thx
So lovely Dacey. Bravo! I didn't know you could mix two formulas together. You're brave, a pioneer and inspiration for me to do more coloring myself. Thanks
Thank you so much for this tutorial, Dacey! Just wondering why you mix the 4BG Dark Chocolate Brown with the 9N or 6N if your desired colour is chocolate brown? Thank you! PS. Love your videos!!! ❤️
Omg I am Filipino too and you make me want to color my hair bc that looked soooo easy. I have never colored my hair so I’m kind of scared and not sure about the upkeep but wow it looks so good and so easy I am seriously considering it! Thanks for the quality content Dacey!
I LOVE dark hair. I have soft black/dark brown hair naturally but i wish i could carry off jet black hair. There is just something about dark hair that is so alluring, mysterious and attractive!
I love this color! My hair is a copper tone at the moment but I am wanting to get this result. Do you recommend the same 4BG/9N combo or should I do the regular 4BG/6N?
@DaceyCash Hi Dacey! I’m curious to know about how much you are usually left with: I have pretty thick, long, wavy hair. It’s my first time using box dye and I’m nervous 🫣
I love this! I'm half filipino as well and I feel like I would be able to achieve very similar results with these dyes! Thanks for walking us through your hair dye process ❤️
That is a stunning colour, beautiful lights in it. I used to be strawberry blonde but have turned light brown over the years. I just went lighter but I just don't like it. This is just the sort of warm, pretty brown that I'm looking for.
I couldn't find John Frieda foam color anywhere in Canada. So I decided to purchase Garnier Olia in the shade Iced Chocolate brown and Light blonde, and I will mix those to hopefully have it similar to your colour.
Hello my hair color is dark i want to do it chocolate color do i need to mix 9n with 4bg or 6n please let me know, you hair color is very beautiful i love it
I used these exact colors today but sadly my grey roots turned blondish /slightly orange. I guess I’ll just dye my roots dark again minus the 9n. Grey hair is hard to navigate.
I have dirty blond roots color and the rest is a mix of dark brown, red and blond highlights. Would the combination of the 2 work or just stick with the brown colour so since I have blond highlights and blond roots? Would you recommend doing my roots first or after since it's dirty blond? Thanks! Love your hair 😻

I wanna do this so bad, but I hate red hues 🙈🙈🙈 would say it has a brassy look?

How can I add some Carmel high light to this hair color combination? Thank you ❤

Sure, blonde hair adds dimension to your hair but I think dark hair is so sultry. 💁🏻♀️
