Good God Glen, this is exactly what i wanted for my PC MAME build!! Would it be possible to get an adapter for the master connection to a USB encoder? And how much is this board? Awesome!
This looks like a great product. I don’t own an iiRcade, so am not a potential customer, but I’m impressed with the thought that has gone into it. Keep up the good work.
This looks amazing. I wish I had funds to cover the kickstarter version. But, once the product goes into production, I would love if you would include selectable options in the ordering page, so I can customize things like the spinners, and trackball. Very glad to hear your project is going well. Thanks for the video. :)
Hi Glen. I just received my iircade control panel. Beautiful work! Got it hooked up and working! When shutting it down, noticed the trackball light and 4way/8way buttons are still lit up. How do these turn off?
You have to actually turn off the iiRcade. The iiRcade does not power off the usb ports and standby mode. When you press the power button, you're not actually turning it off. You're just putting it in sleep mode and it keeps the USB alive. Best way I do it is I have the actual arcade machine on a power switch on the outlet and I turn it off that way
Glen, Looking great! Two big questions :) First, definitely want to see an install for the Gold. I'll be adding this baby to that machine. Second, I love buying custom bat and ball tops for my machines. Can we remove the existing tops from your included joysticks and put on our own tops? If not... Will you be selling shafts that are compatible for Sanwa tops? You know I backed! And I'm VERY HAPPY to hear about the push pull spinner swap capability. If it's easy enough, and Viper is planning an... ehem'... Forgotten Worlds possibility... You best believe you'll have another sale from me forthcoming :) Thank you again Glen for this opportunity to expand my home arcade's functionality. No more room to add additional machines and these inventions keep the expansion alive! Game on! vgv
Really looking forward to getting mine, if I had one critique though it would be that I wished it was designed so that only one power cord came from the machine. Other than that everything looks great.
Looks fantastic, Glen. Can't wait to get mine 😁 Is the switching between iiRcade and your Viper board also possible between iiRcade and mystery encoder?
I know its probably said by some but I would love to see the corners rounded. Biggest flaw in the iircade control panel. Looks like the team encoder board is sold out and they are not having another round of preorders.
It put a smile on my face when I saw the video this morning. I had a question or two. First, will the power button on the controller turn everything on/off (including Viper)? I already assume Viper will need a separate power supply as well. Second, can the non joysticks like the spinners be used for dual stick games?
The deck has its own power and the VIPER will too..the iiRcade will still supply power even when off...so u would need your own power switch... If the game supports duel sticks absolutely
This is pretty decent... the only Criticism that I would make... is the lack of a True "deep-travel" Leaf-Switch button. You see, leafs not only FEEL much nicer for certain Classic games.. but they are Much easier and far less Fatiguing... in Rapidfire shooters... such as a game like "Halleys Comet" (or even extended Galaga sessions). There is a special Trick about Leafs that I never realized, until much later in my life... Its called: "Feathering"... You see, a leaf button takes a certain amount of travel before the two Leafs touch. The long travel helps prevent accidental presses. But once you make the two contacts connect... you can then lightly "Vibrate" your finger... and it will cause the leafs to connect and break connections, rapidly, with virtually No physical effort at all. In this way.. you are NEVER pressing the button to the point where the plunger hits the Bottom of the button. Its like a trampoline, where you just bounce lightly up and down. No loud clicky sounds. No typical strong Microswitch Snapping Resistance. Nor the new light-activation force micros... that are too easily activated on accident (merely by resting your fingers on them). Traditional Leafswitches can be less than a papers thickness apart... to connect and disconnect... and again, unlike a microswitch... you dont get a hard spring resistance before each activation (which causes a lot of fatigue, over a long periods of time... with rapidfire presses). Now.. leafs are not always the best solution for certain games... such as fighters.. where you desire a positive "Click" to have exact timing. But, if you put the leaf on only one of the 6 buttons, such as the Quick Punch or Quick Kick buttons... then it probably wouldnt really effect things enough to be an issue. Of course, the best solution, IMO... is to make a 7th button, that is lower and near the stick... like MK3's Run button... but on the CP.. there clearly isnt room for that. Realize that there are many old Leafswitch types out there. Some are shallow, and bottom out to quickly / easily (bottoming out causes impact fatigue, as well as reduces energy recovery + slows return speeds). However, there are also much longer Travel leaf buttons, that almost double the traditional travel distance... which allows for the "Feathering" to be easily be performed. Obviously, if you press the button too hard.. it will still bottom out. But if you know about feathering... you can easily prevent the button from bottoming out, with long-travel leaf buttons. While there are not a lot of games that need constant rapidfire... the ones that do require it... such as Halleys Comet.. are well worth the addition of the proper Leaf buttons... because its virtually unplayable without them. But as Ive said... Leafs are so buttery smooth, and so Quiet... that once you start using them for most of the classics... you will never want to use Micros for these older games. In fact, its somewhat similar with the Wico Balltop Leaf joysticks. They are pretty much a requirement for getting the quickest and best control abilities... with Robotron. They sound and feel so much better than micros, too... with that wonderful shock absorbing rubber Grommet centering system. Of course, these joysticks are NOT good for fighting games... where precision diagonals and stop+start type of movements, are required. Anyways... Try playing Halley Comet for as long as you can... using a standard happs microswitch button.. and trying to maintain your highest repeated press speeds. As this particular game rewards you for maintaining the fastest fire rates... and you will get FAR more powerups in a fraction of the time/distance... IF you can keep that fire rate high enough. Obviously, someone could use some sort of Rapidfire Cheat, or a Hardware rapidfire speed-dial... but that also takes away the fun and challenge of these games.
Awesome work sir! I placed a pre-order and cant wait! Any easy options you can suggest if i wanted to keep my original iircade control panel art (I have the Sydney Hunter cab), thanks for making this for the iircade community!
HI Glen, I cant wait to get the new Deck. Special Thank You for the Concave Buttons, I much prefer them over the Convex. Question what are the springs in the joysticks? I hope you went with 4lb Springs, I use them in all my Atgames products.

@@GlensRetroShow thank you, I am fine with the colors it comes with I have a Dragons Lair OG cab but a Buddy of mine has the gold Dead Cells cab with purple and blue bats and buttons and he was wondering.

I don’t really care much about the 60 games I bought from the store. I would rather have a couple hundred real retro arcade mame games on the viper.
