Just came across your video by complete accident. Good to see a fellow Brother who's into the Best console ever. Big respect from West London, England 😁
Great video and I know this is months old but, the time to start collecting for the Neo Geo (all versions) was in the late 90's to early 00's. Unless, you're a reseller. Prices were extremely low and supply was great. That's when I started and was still getting NOS AES carts sealed for like $40 to $50. CDs and MVS carts were cheaper too.
Thanks! Yeah 90s to early 00s was the best time for sure. I’m sure a lot easier to find certain titles too. I kinda of wish I had started sooner, but it’s definitely an enjoyable library of games to play.
@retroneoness3129 yep. It's absolutely ridiculous now. I feel bad for folks trying to hop on now. I don't have that kind of money to burn. I started with the Neo Geo CD system when I was in college. Ordered one directly from SNK of America as they were clearing them out during the Fall of '98. Got a Pocket Color two days before Christmas in '99. Then emulation with NeoRageX and MAME. Finally, in 2005, I finally got a used AES on Ebay. Then the next year, picked up a jamma supergun and got an MVS 1-slot PCB so I could run carts. Sometimes, I run it in one of my arcade cabinets. Also scored an SVC Chaos jamma pcb on eBay. Started helping a local business (family fun center) with some arcade repairs and stumbled across some MVS gems and a working 2-slot board that I added to the collection. I still need an actual MVS cabinet
This is a beautiful consoles and controllers collection and I never hear before of such a beautiful things like today. I love the quality and gameplay of Neo Geo Games and I think they was in a good fight with Sega, Nintendo and Capcom companies from 90s or maybe 80s. I dont know many things about Neo Geo maybe because they sell just in Japan and they dont make more for USA or outside of borders. But when I seen your consoles and I hear about their incredible compatibility with Sega and Nintendo I was very excited of this big chance to play everything. I am a begining gamer but I love to play classic games. Unfortunatley this classic games like Caveman Ninja or Robocop 1987 or Bad Dudes or Snow Bross are disapeared from playing in this century because The Arcade games from 80s was cant be emulated for that classic 80s home consoles. I was verry happy when Two Crude Dudes, Caveman Ninja and other Data East treasures was rereleased for My Arcade. But unfortunately there are not all games.
Thanks! Yeah I'm just trying to spread some light on games that some may not have had the chance to play. Too many classic games out there not to talk about and share experiences on. Keeping classic gaming alive.
Collecting Neo Geo items is a love and passion of mine. I have collected all the SNK items from AES, MVS, and even I have all the Neo Geo CD games and press releases. If anyone wants to consider collecting for Neo Geo, I highly recommend it. It's definitely worth it. Great job on the content, keep up the good work!
Thank you! I couldn’t agree more with you. Neo Geo really is worth it. The games have solidified themselves in video game history and SNK items are always fun to see. Thanks again for tuning in.
Haha loved that intro! :D Great video for anyone who wants to get into the collecting for the console. I actually just shot my video for Neo Geo Hunting in Japan. Coming in 1 or 2 weeks :D
I have 18 Japanese AES games all CIB. It's easily my favourite console of all time. Im at that stage with Neo Geo that I'll buy a game here and there but i have most of what i really want. But every now and then I'll spoil myself and buy a cart.
lmao your money is being devalued just sitting there by biden printing money,100 bux doesnt have the same power as 100 bux had 5 years ago xD unironically my retro collection has increased in value, you would more likely be better off with buying retro shit NOW and selling it in 20 years than just letting cash sit in your account xD
I just bought one! It came with a game, joystick, and hook ups. No box, nor instructions. According to Pricecharting, I got a great deal! We will see if I feel that way when it comes this week. I had a ship come in, so I plan to get the few last things I want for my collection. A 3DO and a Turbo Express.
I just want to mention, the (32meg NTSC!) SNES version of Fatal Fury Special is an awesome port of this great game, it's my favourite SNK home console fighting game by far. Fatal Fury 2 on Genesis is also a good one, it's my second favourite. Good choice!
enjoyed the video good sir, and know the addiction, I was active in 90's as 'garg7', ran a review site, and amassed a 21 cart AES collection and acquired 2 JPN SNK candy cabs, even then the carts were expensive but FAR less than now, paid $6200 for those 21 carts (some amazing titles), but todays prices the value would be $33,000! I sold then and went solely MVS, still have my candy cab and love it, just purchased a CMVS. For newbies who just want to play, STICK WITH THE ORIGINAL HARDWARE, recommend a consolized MVS and 161 in 1 cart, though I still prefer original MVS carts, but on a budget thats a solid option. The future is now!:) Be well
Thanks! You were in the hobby at the best time! Definitely better pricing 😅. I couldn’t agree more, if people want to play OG hardware go MVS or pick up a 161 in 1 cart for budget. I appreciate you tuning in. You also Be well good sir.
Nice video! I started collecting for the Neo Geo about 3 years ago. I collect mainly Japanese games as I like the insets better than the US, plus they are "cheaper" lol.
Excellent job as always Ness. I started really collecting doing the global economic crisis back in 2008. Will never see those prices again for what I purchased them for that's for sure. I posted this awesome video up for you on the Neo-Geo thread over on the forums over on AtariAge for you bro. Thank you for sharing this with us and see you again soon. Anthony...
I'm very much against emulation where its possible to be. In the case of the Neo Geo and some of those other older consoles it's the only way I will possibly be able to play those games without winning the lottery so thats the route I'm planning on going when I get to grips with an emulation set up. That being said I have nothing but respect for anyone who goes down the road of collecting for one of the older consoles including the Neo Geo. Great video. Great work. Keep it up n good luck!!!
Great video/channel abd amazing collection. I had a decent AES collection and almost a full set of MVS some years ago, but sold it. 😭 We're getting back into it now to a limited extent. 😮 Where are you based? Greetings from an Irishman in Katy, Texas.
Thank you, I greatly appreciate it! Wow I bet that MVS collection was a marvel to play and look at. I'm happy to hear you are getting back into it. Greetings from the Dallas metro area.
I was like most kids who couldnt get a neo geo. But some of the ports were decent like Fatal Fury 2 and Samurai Shodown for snes and genesis. I even loved Baseball Stars for nes. Gameplay felt the same as the neo geo.
Thanks! Always great see more Neo Geo collectors! I’m using the Ikea Billy bookcases. They are real sturdy and have some depth so the games don’t hang off the shelves.
I just started to know the NEO GEO what it is and I love that it is the real thing like back in the day ! I just want that feeling you play the actual game and not simulation! is Neo geo cd the same quality as the cartridge? thank you
I totally agree there is nothing better than playing the actual thing with Neo Geo. I actually just picked up a Neo Geo CDZ recently it has the same quality. I'd say the only things that I find that aren't exact to the AES are load times and some minor frame drops on some of the fighting games. Still very good quality.
The only one I've had experience with is CMVS from Games Care. I've heard good things on the Omega CMVS, but they are usually sold out. Timeharvest.net has a variety of different versions. On Aliexpress you can find the more affordable versions, but it's hit or miss on longevity and quality.
Great collection!!! But NEOGEO named.. Arcade = NEOGEO(MVS) Console = Console NEOGEO(NG) or Rental system or NEOGEO HOME(NGH) So console NEOGEO = AES(X) ‘Advanced Entertainment System’ NEOGEO catch phrase ‘AES’ arcade and console Applicable to all. SNK official called. No AES.
Agree with everything said here but it wasn't that much of a powerhouse, it was more powerful than the SNES and Genesis, but it wasn't the most powerful console of its time, it was expensive because of the use of huge ROM cartridges, mask rom prices of that time were skyhigh.
I recommend skipping the collector thing. Get a Neo Geo MVS 1 slot, a cheap supergun and one of those 161 in 1 multicarts. The only decent game they don't have is Art of Fighting 3. Seriously... if you aren't going to play the games then what are you going to do with that collection? It's one step from being a hoarder. If you are buying to play... who cares as long as it's on original hardware? The multicart experience is the same. I had an AES as a kid. The MVS is better. It used to really bug me the way they censored games for the AES version. And how certain games weren't available.
Definitely over the last few months my recommendation has been go MVS to anyone that doesn’t want to emulate and wants a physical version even CD is a decent alternative as well over AES. The censorship of certain games is rather annoying I agree. bios chips can help with that in certain situations if we are talking about AES. Me personally I play all of my Neo Geo games I spend way too much for them to sit on a shelf and collect dust. I select a different game once a week to go through and play. Multicart is a good alternative as well. At the end of the day it’s really up to however someone wants to enjoy the game.
@neo_ness the guy who made that comment unfortunately passed away waiting for his Neo CD to load. I'm his grandson. He asked me to take over waiting for his AOF3 CD to finish loading round 1 while holding his ashes so he can experience it in some way...
An easy way I look to see if the console is JPN or ENG is by checking the model number on the back. If it says “NEO-AEC” it’s an English console. If it says “NEO-O” it’s Japanese. Some consoles were built with different voltage outputs as well. Some had 8V and others 5V.
CDZ console load times are a little bit faster. It’s nothing to write home about but it’s tolerable. I still need to get it modded to play some games in English text
Oh hell no man the mvs games have went up the big titles is like trying to sell mvs whole kits for like two grand like 1500 $900 they went up 🕹🎮😀👍🏾🤦🏾😂🤣
I dont know I guess where to buy them from, what stores you have had success with, is ebay your main route, how much each costs, the main bangers on the systems. I'd love to jump in but private seller groups isnt enough info.@@neo_ness
I just don't understand why people still buy such an overpriced, outdated console today. The games are now available for all other systems for 7 bucks per game. Now there will definitely be those who claim “because of the retro feeling”. All I'll say is, I'm from that time too and I'm glad I don't have to keep all those old electronics and packaging in my apartment anymore. In addition, it doesn't benefit me if I use unsupported hardware, have to be careful that nothing breaks and can only be used on old televisions (or only with an adapter that can be purchased separately). I bought all the games available for 150 bucks for my current systems. They run better than on the original system, you have more settings options if you want, and I can also play them on a new system as long as I buy new hardware. Buying NeoGeo today makes no sense at all. It costs a lot of money, it collects dust at home, and if you die for some reason, it just ends up in the trash when you clear out your apartment.
That’s why I always say “Collect and Play the way You want to Collect and Play your games.” Emulation is a money saver. Playing these old games on modern consoles for a couple bucks is another way. Some like physical. At the end of the day I just want to play the game. I can’t take this collection with me when I’m gone. If my family doesn’t want it after I’m gone. I want it all donated to a video game museum.
best time to collect for it was 20 years ago lmao i only own like 3 games for mine and they was 40 uk pounds a pop in 2010! just wound up getting a 161 cart for my AES,sure i love flexing on the poors but not 1000 for metal slug level of flexing lol

i love your collection sir. very impressive

I noticed a Ranma 1/2 for SNES in the background. Great game. The first game I ever got for my SNES other than the pack-in. Nice collection.
I rented Ranma 1/2 from Blockbuster so many times as a kid it is a solid game. Thanks!

@@anthonychurch726 Your right it was 1990 when I purchased the Japanese version and 1992 I purchased the 2 gold edition US version, I'm getting old.
I'm too deep in Warhammer collecting to afford something like a Neo Geo. Interesting watch! You're not too bad with Terry :D
Thanks! Warhammer is pretty cool!
Always good seen some neo geo aes content. I’ve finally finished the CD library.

Love this vid! 100% agree. It's expensive but there are other options. MVS is certainly a more sensible choice, with Southtown boxes.

The games where 300 a pop when snk was open 🎮🕹😀👍🏾
I got neosd pro for it. With aes and rgb it is best
What are you using to hook up your aes to your tv?
Insurrection Industries Neo Geo RGB SCART Cable (w/ csync) and I connect that into my Retro Tink 5x. Comes out crystal clear on the HDTV.

I want it all donated to a video game museum.
