One important correction - iiRcade is currently NOT taking pre-orders for the Gold edition; the only version you can buy is the wrestling skin OG version. The sale on games is still going on, but the lack of availability for pre-orders is a very bad sign for the company's potential longevity. I'd still recommend it al the $299 price, but I'd also be buying whatever games you're interested in right away.
A great review as usual EG. I am a new owner and I bought at the 299 deal plus shipping. My reasons for buying were the screen aspect ratio, great sound and controls, plus new games and cabinet construction. As an owner of 4 ALU's, 3 ALU's and 1 ALU Mini this fit in my arcade well. I especially like the newer titles like Donut Do Do, Mayhem Brawler, Galacticon, Satryn, Oddmar with more pickups coming soon, even some I already have on the ALU, Major Title 2 doesnt emulate correctly on the ALU the ball direction pointer is hidden and it has graphical hiccups so I picked it up on the iiRcade. I also picked up Mat Mania, a game I used to play often in the 80's at an ice cream shop, such a fun game, one of my favorite wrestling games of all time. You mentioned Double Dragon 2 and Double Dragon three license losses, at first this was an issue as I didnt even have a chance to purchase, my cabinet was in shipping, but after going back and looking at the games they are not great, Combatribes is miles better as is Night Slashers, 64th Street, ect. I'm pretty sure you can't preorder the Gold cabinets, not having an USB for me isnt a big deal, a pcb swap will probably have to happen to mod if they go under. I also like the Retromania and OG cabinets for the sightlines, being 6'5" I think the Golds Marquee would get in the way. I didn't buy the cabinet for the light gun games, I can play those fine with my Sinden on ALU with Batocera build with hundreds. I was hoping for an UI upgrade, while the speakers are super loud, not being able to control the volume with the granularity of the ALU, ie 0-100 and once I did the Kicker Speaker mods on my ALU they sound better, just not louder than the iiRcade. I think the controls are buttery smooth, but I prefer the ALU's controls, esp after doing the 4lb springs. I also prefer the buttons on the ALU, their shape and clickiness, these are my preferences, out of the gate the ALU with BAOLIAN, while they don't always center perfectly and maybe feel alil rougher, I like them better. My hope is they keep trucking along my fear is parts availability if things break, if that happens maybe Glen and or others will have mods. I have a core max that might interface with the controls and screens, who knows. I've said it many times before iiRcade should join up with Atgames, get their newer UI and iiRcade share cabinet patents, share games, ect. hideen
Hey, great post! It does do some things better than A1up/AG. The a la carte buying is a great idea, and there's no doubt that it's the system for more modern games. The 1st gen seems a bit rushed; they really needed to get this into the hands of actual players before releasing. The Gold edition looks great, but by not putting it out first, they may have mortally wounded themselves....
The lack of a lit marquee is one of the many head-scratchers the OG cab has. iiRcade really did need to have this cab playtested by some people who actually play these games.
I was able to get one a couple of years ago during their holiday sale, where they were just practically giving these things away with free shipping. I paid, $299 for it with free shipping, and they sent it to me withing one week. For what it is, for that price it is definitely worth it.
I can not tell you how many times I have put the iircade in my cart and pulled the plug. I don't really know why I have had so much reluctance on purchasing it in the past. But, now I am definitely going to wait and see where the company is headed. Great overview and opinions.
Nice review. Agree iircade is more of an extension to your home arcade rather than a standalone solution. Going that route you can add several “1up lineups” into your arcade with games such as the Dragon’s Lair trilogy, the Burgertime lineup, Space Invaders and cult arcade titles 1up won’t make such as Moon Patrol, City Connection and Elevator Action. There’s also a good selection of modern remakes with some fun twin-stick shooters along with Galacticon and several others. It’s a really fun addition to home arcades full of 1ups.
Yeah, there is a bit of overlap between A1up and iiRcade isn't there? It's a decent cab for sure, if they only had a few more A-lister games I think it'd be much more popular. Thanks for watching!
@@evilgeniusentertainment Or have both! I don't turn on the iiRcade to play fighters... usually shmups. It's all good though I have a custom 1up KI and a big blue, some other pcbs too!
The Retromania cab and the cab you have aren’t the same. The Retromania cab has genuine Sanwa sticks and 128 gb of storage. Also, you can’t get just the bar top.
Incorrect info regarding the Gold Cab pre-orders and availability at 1:07 in the video. They are not taking pre-orders and at this time have no plans to make more gold or original cabinets.
Jong said on the last iircade stream at this time they have no plans to make more gold or original units. That could change obviously but right now they have no plans. Michael has also mentioned this on multiple streams as well. You cannot place a preorder on their website even though the gold listing says “pre-order” you cannot place a pre-order.
Yikes. That is a bad sign for sure. I thought Jong said that they would make more when they got enough pre-orders. Perhaps the big game sale will generate some funds... but it doesn't look good.
“ Pick One Up”? Where? This lost going out of business company is done they don’t make cabs, have huge debt, they are toast stay away from it-Zero support. You should not be recommending it.
Well to be fair, it's nearly worth it for the cab itself if you want to make a retropie setup. The physical cab is outstanding quality. I'm temped to make a vpin cab out of the stand. And of course, the company is, for the moment, in business. Considering that the A1up DRAGON'S LAIR cab has only three games and costs $600, there is real value in the iiRcade if you want good versions of DL/DL2/SPACE ACE.
@@evilgeniusentertainment This is exactly right. My thoughts exactly. The cab, screen ,and controls are very good for that price imho. I am sitting on a MFL skinned cab, (unopened), that's getting mod treatment soon. Either a Nintendo Switch MFL conversion or pc. I have the switch, but prefer pc for more variety.

Great video as always
And soon you will be able to get the new GRS ultimate replacement control panel..so a huge plus 😊
But when? 🤷♀️
If they do not go under first… it’s not looking good to be honest
Hey thanks Glen! Hope those replacement panels are a hit! I know I'll be ordering one ASAP....
Iircade should come out with dynamic marquee. That would set them apart from the competition.
The lack of a lit marquee is one of the many head-scratchers the OG cab has. iiRcade really did need to have this cab playtested by some people who actually play these games.

That might be optimistic!

This cabinet is still way better at 2 players than an Arcade1up. I do recommend the glass screen upgrade for 50, it’s great.
I tend to agree, but the fighting games are of course much better, so it's a choice between better cab vs better titles.

Yes, That 299 price for the retromania cab is a total steal imho. For anyone that likes the games available, you cant beat it for 299.
@@thomasb3668 it’s actually 400 not 299 but with the office closing up and warehouse owing 90k in back taxes… I would be super weary of this company
Great and honest review, thanks for sharing your thoughts on iiRcade!
Thank you Bigggggy for the nice words; I've been wanting to do a review on it for a while now and with all the news, I figured I better get it out!
I hope they make it, as there latter cab was great , just pricey as there games can be too..
Oh make no mistake, I want a Gold edition version... but not for $700. The Retromania cab is a very good deal at $299.
What Arcade1ups are using cam locks? None of the newer ones I have do.
Where did you get the MK poster with the moves? Link?
