    Very nice work and easy to follow. It's great what you can do when you have a workshop. I also have a DR350SE myself, which is in very good technical condition. A really nice and light bike that, with a few modifications, is also suitable for long journeys. Have fun with your DR250S

      Thanks! It starts much easier now, I made some adjustments and followed some of the tips you commented in the other vid. Before, it was a real pain.

    I would have put some "Anti seize" paste on the exhaust header bolt threads.

      Yes, it would have been a good thing to do at the time, but I didn't think of it. I'll remember to next time.

      And if you wanted to be a bit fussy you could carefully clean any gunk out of the hole with a plug tap then blow it out with compressed air. Then put it all back together (with new bolts).

    I picked up a 1990 DR 250 dirt model recently and have been getting into it! Unfortuantely had a toasted top end from lack of oil to the head. Was pricey to get some replacement parts on eBay but should be a fun bike eventually. Thanks for the video, not too much DR 250 content as the 350 seems to be way more common. Been looking at that same dominator exhaust as mine came with a fraken welded cone tip that im sure was not helping performance lol

      Thanks for watching and for your comment! Sounds like you've got quite the project with your DR 250. It’s definitely a challenge finding parts, but it’ll be worth it in the end. I agree, the DR 350 does seem to get more attention, so it's awesome to connect with fellow DR 250 owner. The Dominator exhaust has been a solid upgrade for me-definitely helps with performance. Best of luck with your restoration, and feel free to reach out if you need any tips or just want to share progress.

      Pues yo diría que posiblemente no se vendería la Dr 250 tanto como la 350 , claro está por si potencia, el precio de las dos no se cual sería en su momento, pero lo que sí tengo claro es que al no venderse tanto la 250 y haber menos , en un tiempo será una rareza es como las 250 y 125 R.... que como no se vendieron tantas pues con el tiempo se convierten en rarezas clásicas , con lo que estoy seguro se revalorizaran en futuro y serán raras de ver , serán motos dignas de guardar mantener , por su escasez y rareza creo firmemente que merecen la pena repararlas restaurarlas y mantenerlas, soy gran fan de las Dr..., y para prueba un botón conservo una pequeña 50cc, una Suzuki Dr Big, que hacia tributo a la DR BIG 750-800cc..., la diseñó un Español en la (fábrica de Avello, Suzuki.).( Gijón Asturias España 🇪🇦)..y aún que es una pequeña cilindrada 50cc, a día de hoy están más cotizadas incluso que una 250-350-incluso aveces una 750-800cc.., porque veo los precios ,si claro que puedes encontrar una 750-800cc más cara ,pero también más baratas a precio de una 50cc, ..a veces es por su rareza ,o porque se ponen de moda de nuevo, por nostalgia,o simplemente por míticas.., conservo una unidad de esta Suzuki Dr Big 50 cc que podéis ver en mi canal, ..tengo dudas si se vendió en EE,UU.. algun video he visto alguna muy raro la verdad, pero si se que en otros países sí llegó y se vendió. Un saludo tronkos ✌️🤘

    Nice results! And a beautiful location! I'm not a bike guy so forgive my ignorance but oil in the frame?! Is that common?

    • @motor_mastery
      @motor_mastery  6 місяців тому +2

      Bikes that store oil in an auxiliary tank or in this case in the frame are using what's called a Dry Sump system, where the oil is stored outside of the engine and not stored in the crank case sump, like in most regular motorcycle engines. It’s not super common, but a lot of older bikes, like BSAs and Nortons, use this setup.
