Cleveland is a very special place for the band. It's where Rush was first played on US radio. Many listeners called in asking if it was a new Led Zeppelin release.
I've been going to Rush concerts since the mid-seventies and watching this gave me Goosebumps just hearing the crowd roar ! We will never see this kind of talent again in our lifetime !
I never get tired of these performance! Three guys pushing 60 at the end of a 3 hour show. This song is from 1974 and they changed it up with doing the reggae intro. I would suggest listening to the studio version as well. Both are bangers! Geddy Lee the vocalist plays the bass. Alex Lifeson is the guitarist. Brilliant Performance!
@@SA-gs2ib I didn't mention Neil as he already knew his name. I was answering his question on who was playing which guitar. To me Neil was one of the greatest drummers of all time and so much more. He is sadly missed

Red Barchetta. An old friend of mine. we were "enemies" as he moved into neighborhood. childish bs. But then. In 6th grade English, we had to do a report on a Ballad. We all chose classics of what the public system told us was a ballad. UNTIL... Mike read his report on "Red Barchetta. " Everyone was blown away. Rush was one of my favorite bands at the time. Of course, we became friends. The power of Rush!

Rush just proves over and over again just how great they are!!!! Geddy on his game , Neil one point and holding it down as the professor does,Alex goes wild ❤❤❤ 🤘☠️🤘🔉🔉🔉🔉🔉🔉🔉🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔉🔉🔉🔊🔊🔊🎤🥁🎸🎸💯✅ Working Man’s Band- Rush tumeless
Rush is probably the biggest name Band to ever come out of Canada, their hit list is damn near bottomless. I think most likey my favorite Rush Song is "Trees", it is totally a metaphor, as Geddy said in an interview, its about the USA over shadowing Canada and Canada wants respect and recognition.
I’m glad to have been alive in the same period of time as this group. My favorite group since I was introduced to them when I was around 11. 52 now. Thank you Rush.
Cleveland is important to Rush and the song "Working Man" made it so - a song a working town understood and embraced... it was a Cleveland radio station which played the song once really late at night and people responded calling into the station asking about it, so it got more air-play. It literally gave Rush recognition and notoriety and a growing fan base, from then on they were able to keep making records.
Geddy Lee.....Born Gary Lee Weinrib; July 29, 1953. His Polish mother's accent was so bad she called him "Geddy". In school his friends thought it was funny and started to call him that.... It Stuck dropping his last name.
How many Notes were played in that performance? Each note was real, had to be heard in their minds before their fingers could play the right notes.... Amazing.
I give credit to this song for keeping me half sane for the godaweful 3 1/2 years in Hawaii. I'm NOT an 808 fan. A band that played at a nearby bar/nightclub would play this and nail it. Giving me a reason to live. When they saw me come in they knew they were going to be "workin' men"
RUSH LIVE……I was lucky enough to see one of the last shows before Neil died at SPAC N.Y. Simply the most talented three man band ever. Incredible performances every time. “In eight years I’ll be seventy one, I can play Charlie Watts drum parts when I’m seventy one, I can’t play Neil Peart’s drum parts when I’m seventy one” - Neil Peart at sixty three.
Glad you liked it! First concert I went to was Rush. 1981 in Dallas (Moving Pictures tour). My friend's brother stood in line all night to get tickets--we got 2nd row in front of Alex, and it cost $10. I was a 14 year old girl, and my friends were 15 (4 of us)-we thought we were cool because we all wore white tube tops. Lol. Pat Travers was in front of us in 1st row & some guy brought him a grocery bag full of weed. I saw them again in 2012 in Dallas, but unfortunately, not 2nd row (or Pat Travers!).
Perhaps not a surprise that Alex has suffered arthritis in his fingers, eh? ps - that little part at the end is from Cyrus X-1, Book I (which was the last track on Farewell to Kings (1976)). Both it and Book II (which was the first track on 1978's Hemispheres album) were beyond epic.
Please listen to the original album version; this reggae beginning is only meant to charm the audience and switch things up, but it doesn't represent the song as it was recorded. Part of the genius of Rush was to both fuck with certain audiences who didn't "get" them, and confuse haters while STILL delivering music that eclipsed their rivals.
Don't make it so complicated. What haters? I just witnessed a crowd roaring, having fun and loving it. This is one of best performances ever. They had fun doing it and the crowd enjoyed it. That's all that matters. Yeesh.
They looked and sounded better than most twenty something year old bands. Alex shredding, grinning, Geddy Lee jumping up and down, even Neil was smiling. Hell, they didn't act like 55-60 to me and who cares how old they are? Rush just kept getting better with age anyway.
First song I EVER HEARD BY RUSH!!! Have been a RUSH fan, ever SINCE! OMG - SUCH A GREAT CATALOGUE!! Not a bad song by them, as far as I'm concerned!! It's AMAZING that ALL THAT SOUND can be put out by THREE DUDES! SO GOOD!!! LOVED your REACTION!!!
Since you like Rush I would like you to check out the music on Jethro Tull (1968-,2023) They released an album/ year up to 1980 and no two albums are alike. Suggest that you listen to the first four albums, listen to Thick as a Brick which is one song that took up both sides of the album. I look forward to your reviews
HIGH JM.... It was 9 months ago I asked you watch Neil do a drum solo, (and Simon Philips from Toto) This is only the fifth video in their Playlist. You certainly can see they deserve many more added and there is a "TON"more great tunes from them.
If you get a chance, listen to the album version. They added the Reggae - Funk intro is some live performances just to have a bit of fun. This time they took it a long way into the song and had a few folks in the audience kinda worried they were really doing something with this tune! LOL Oh, and by the way, they were all in their 60's in this video.
Back in history, some rock musicians were capable of this level of performance. I understand that's it outside of your experience but it used to be the order of the day
Check out some of the videos from 1974 (with original drummer John Rutsey) and the B&W videos from 1976, you could tell Rush was destined to greater things in their career.

Jeez, I'm the one who suggested it. I gave him the link and said he had to do the live version. My opinion is different though. I love the studio version, but that blows me away. Don't get mad at him for my suggestion...maybe you can become a patreon member and give him yours. There are some that I do prefer the studio version, but so many Rush songs are just as good if not better live in my opinion like with Exit Stage Left. Not just Rush either... if I suggested UFO, I'd say to do it from the Strangers in the Night album.
Rush is what happened when they took six extremely talented musicians and crammed them into three amazing men, nothing else comes close to Rush!
Post-o-my lifetime. Rush forever….
theres no getting past Rush, no denying the sheer level of talent.

I was at the Cleveland show, To see this live, was just incredible.
I was at this show. So many many great songs they did.
Only the best rock band in the world
Also…. By the time Geddy leaves the stage at the end, Neal has already boarded his bus and is out of the building!
Rush is dope ❤
This was the last song this band ever played.... I was there.... My 53rd Rush show.
❤rock on, God bless you for considering to react to Rush. They are truly an amazing band.
Saw them for Presto at Devenshire Downs and they were awesome. Like Alice's cat I was grinning ear to ear all night long.

The last song of the concert on the last tour stop ever and they played it that way! Glad I saw them on both Moving Picture tours.
