    It’s funny… I’ve heard all of these tips before. I’ve even read some of them directly. I might even have implemented a few of them, but the way you presented these as a group and with your specific examples and experience was so helpful! So happy that you’ve been able to discover all of this and thank you, thank you thank you for sharing it.

    I have an anxiety disorder that presents like ADHD, with not being able to get stuff done or focus, things like that. One thing that REALLY helps me specifically in Task Stacking is splitting my tasks into sitting and standing tasks. Sometimes I really don’t want you to get up, so I will do sitting tasks like online assignments, emails, catching up with friends (yes, it’s on my to-do list, I’m really inconsistent at it). Standing tasks are cleaning, cooking, stretching, working out, etc. for when I don’t want to sit down right now. It’s super helpful.

      One tip that's worked for me (specifically, as someone with ADHD): Prep your meal components in advance and/or clean and cut up nourishing snacks like fruits and veggies when you bring your groceries home! It's SO much easier to grab a snack and go about your day, and it takes a lot of the mental energy and time out of the equation when you're making dinners (e.g., throwing together cooked proteins, veggies, and carbs and nuking them in the microwave versus having to make eeeeeverything from scratch).

    • @oxanadc
      @oxanadc 7 місяців тому +2

      @@0wlyssa as someone with ADHD meal prepping is super helpful when I remember to do it 😅
      I loved sharing how I try to do it with my own UA-cam channel, and as a college student it also save me a lot of extra time
      UA-cam has really kept me accountable to making sure I meal prep lately so it's been super fun and time saving

    i really hate thay bedrotting is becoming an Internet term, its really not what people online make it seem to be. I have a depressive disorder, and when I have episodes I bedrot pretty hard and its not just me not wanting to get out of bed... in my last episode i watched damn near every single episode of brooklyn 99 and rick and morty in a week. I didn't take a shower, or brush my teeth or hair then entire time, i physically could not bring myself to get out of bed longer than just heating up food in microwave, and even then, i only really ate once day. I literally felt like Gregor from the metamorphosis, its not the same as just laying in bed cus i dont have the energy to do my assignments. The Internet normalizing the missuse of the term bedrotting is similar to me as the Internet normalizing the term Intrusive thought being used interchangeably with the term Impulsive thought. I wish online culture qould move away from this, and start actually acknowledging the things about mental illness that can't be romanticized without trying to take away from the gross or disturbing parts from them.

    • @imaobongu
      @imaobongu 5 місяців тому +16

      I kind of relate to this. These days I do stay in bed for extended periods, but manage to get out right before I'm late for important things, or to complete important tasks. But once in the past I had a really severe episode where I kept screaming at myself to get out of bed and I couldn't, I would literally cry myself to sleep and dread waking up the next morning knowing I wouldn't be able to do anything. I scheduled therapy sessions and would literally miss them, scheduled group studies as a kind of buddy system for staying accountable and would miss those too. I didn't realize these weren't all just varying levels of bed rot (and the creator of this video may not know this either, so definitely no hate to her). In a way though, I'm glad the concept was popularized, because I'm hearing more on how to tackle some instances of not wanting to do things. Of course, where it calls for it, medication is the best option lol, not everything is mild enough that it can be solved by watching a youtube video.

      How do I let know you two how helpful reading your words have been. Thanks for letting me know about this since it is a very relevant topic. I don't get up from bed either, not just lying but also not moving like I can't even open my mouth to speak or eat, just no energy to even care about anything important and this phase lasts for about 2-3 days and then happens again after a day interval. I don't even drink water when I am feeling low. Everything seems so weird and unsupportive.

    • @imaobongu
      @imaobongu 5 місяців тому +2

      @RashmiSharma-ho7nh It's always a horrible feeling but take your time with getting out it. It can easily be a symptom of burnout if you're been really stressed and pressuring yourself to deliver on something. Something that helped me was sharing with close friends. If there's anyone you could turn to, just letting them know how you're doing could take off some pressure to feel better fast. Take tiny steps, the smaller the better initially. Like try using mouthwash even if you don't brush your teeth. Or getting body wipes if you don't want to shower. Or doing one dish a day even if you use more. Get up to stretch in the morning, or just sit up to stretch. Don't hesitate to order in food if you can afford it, if not, get convenience store food. Try to eat things that make you a little excited, or get something once you crave it. Try to convince yourself that these are minor things that won't take up much energy to reduce the anxiety you feel related to being productive. The truth is that different people require different levels of strength to achieve the same thing, sometimes the same person could require different levels of strength on different days too. Don't hesitate to seek professional help, and Please be kind to yourself, you're doing amazing just trying to find solutions :)

      With all due respect, as a fellow depressive here.
      Taking things like this less seriously will remove some weight from your life. Some things just mean different things to different people. That's their bedrotting experience, yours may be more intense or just different. Unless they are directing it at you, the words means something else and it's clear you know what she means.
      Too many people hear words not even targeted at them and they let it drag them down. There are many words in the english language that sound the same but have different meaning. Context is everything and this context her meaning for bedrotting is just wasting time in bed doom scrolling. Which is what some depressed people do too.
      If you know what they mean, if you know what you mean then nothing essentially changes. Nothing bad happens because of it.

    i am 100 percent a night person in a family of morning people, and because im really the only one the functions better/more productively at night i am expected to be "considerate" at night. like if its my turn to clean the kitchen, the best time for me would be about 10 pm but thats too late because people need to sleep for work in the morning, which makes sense but not being able to do tasks at a time, or in the order that works best for my brain, really throws off my entire day

    Location stacking was interesting to hear since I feel that moving to another location for something, even if it takes time to commute there, helps me to actually get out of bed and do it. Like I could study at home or the nearest library but commuting further away gives me motivation to study => I'm more productive when I travel.

    • @luciornelas4859
      @luciornelas4859 6 місяців тому +3

      im the same way, but i think the location stacking idea is more about having multiple plans/ tasks in one day. so if i had plans to study & hang out with a friend but i know i want to study some place a bit further, i could ask my friend if they’d like to meet me in that city after so i don’t spend more time commuting back for our plans. that might be a poor example but i think it’s just about being more efficient w your time. since going out the way helps you be productive, you should continue to do so

    Whenever exam season comes around my body just doesn't want to do work when I need to. It's like I'm constantly burnt out. But I know this one tip where you just do it. I know it sounds so simple, but really, change your outfit, your location. Change your posture, have water next to you. And just start. It was difficult at first but it gets easier once you get into the flow of it.

I remember when I trained on my job I had to come in very early and despite my best efforts my circadian rhythm NEVER fully adjusted. Great vid. I recommend decluttering your home. I could see heaps of clutter in your background and clearing all that visual noise will do amazing things for your brain and health.

    this isn’t criticism at all but it’s just something small that i and a lot of other people would appreciate. It’s just not referring to food as good or bad. Me personally i refer to food as nutritious or processed. Ofc not that big of a deal i just thought i’d share. I can always expand on this aswell if you’re interested!!

    Atomic Habits is one of the least helpful books and has so many links and tools directed to this tech bro's site. If you want something useful, read the power of habit.
