  • Its time to see if Lenovo's laptop really has carbon fiber inside! Current Pricing HERE: www.lenovo.com... HUGE thanks to Lenovo for sending over the laptop and Intel for sponsoring the video #ad. Having a light laptop makes travel easier - and this laptop is one of the lightest! The Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon supposedly has carbon fiber inside - and its time we find out where that is - along with how modular Lenovo's new laptop might be.

if it has enough ram, I don't see anyone performing ram upgrades. Most of the time it's usually storage because you want more and it's a consumable

Hope everyone is aware that you can take the 'void stickers' and not worry about it. FTC has ruled -
Those ‘warranty void if removed’ stickers are illegal, says the FTC. No longer will you have to resign yourself to a life in which you refrain from pulling off stickers that read “warranty void if removed.”

Almost the end of 2022 and I am still using the Lenovo X230 purchased in 2013 in the top configuration for this model i7-3520m 16GB Ram 256GB SSD with backlit keyboard, LTE modem and 44 ++ (9-cell) battery. Of course, the mandatory jailbreak from 1vyrain and the icing on the cake, the Nitrocaster modification with the installation of Full HD IPS. It works like gold, the only plan for the next few days is to buy a new original battery because the one bought in 2013 with the laptop lasts a maximum of 1.5 hours. The laptop has traveled half the world with me and has never let me down, unfortunately they don't make such durable devices anymore. The equipment as a workhorse works great, it is known that it does not have such performance as models with the latest processors, but it is still a good option for an inexpensive and reliable laptop.

To be clear, carbon fiber has excellent thermal conductivity, but it's highly anisotropic (directionally dependent) and of course the amount and properties of resin can alter that. So there could be other explanations such as cost, geometry, etc.

The carbon fibre is probably a a short or long fibre SMC as opposed to a fabric or UD. UD wouldn't be stiff enough in the secondary fibre orientation so you'd get a lot of matrix cracking when flexing it. SMC is more than strong enough for a laptop screen such as this, and allows it to be easily stamped in matched moulds for OEM style mass production. I could be wrong but this is how I'd approach making something like this from CFRP

  • @JMNTN

You can always rip off a warranty void if removed sticker because it's unlawfully for a manufacturer to void warranty for this reason. Besides i'm sure that sticker will rub off from daily use anyway.
