You're not like the other Eurovison reactors who undirectly lies to please its viewers, and at the same time you're not afraid to point out the good stuff in a song as well! This has grown on me a lot, I really like the song and her voice however as you said her diction needs to be worked on as with out the lyrics on the back, I would have no idea what she's saying at times.
Yeah, she has the pipes, but she's not delivering vocally up to the level of the song ... especially when she tries to get a little TOO cute with the runs and BIG notes. Her voice isn't quite up to them. But there's something here.
For me the problem is the song rather than the singer. Alicja can sing, but this is something in the "Flashlight" ballpark (Poland 2017), nothing that new or exciting. And Poland has been giving us great jESC entries, so ESC entries are under extra scrutiny.
Empire has a lot of elements to like, but the problem is, it has A LOT of elements to sift through. Despite Alicja singing the hell out of the song, i have it ranked on the lower end because the song throws every trick in the book at you for the whoooooole three minutes! Nothing really gets a chance to breathe and build so it all becomes one big clanging mess that barely says anything in the end. My critique here would be to edit edit edit.

Straszne chamstwo z tym tekstem , że Alicja absolutnie nie ma szans na wygraną. Trochę szacunku, dajmy każdemu szanse na wygraną. Pamiętam jak zjechała Szpaka a ten zajął u widzów 3 miejsce. Gdyby nie tacy "eksperci" jak ona to mógłby nawet wygrać. Poza tym to pierwszy występ live. Niemcy wydali teledysk i już jaka genialna piosenka. Zastanawiam się czemu nas nie lubi?
