I am from Basel, Switzerland and Nemo is from Biel7Bienne in Canton Bern. Basel is just near to the boarder in Germany and France and we have international airport in Basel.
I live in Switzerland and i really think it's gonna be Zurich. I was there recently and i can really see Eurovision being there. I also really hope it will, becasue it makes most sense and it has everything that it needs to host.
Presenters: Sven Epiney has been at the top of my list for a couple of years. He's multi-lingual, he loves the contest and he's very easy on the eyes Interval acts: Gjon's Tears HAS to be there!
Unfortunately, I do not think Celine Dion will be there. We dont know if the doctors will allow so many hours in an airplane. I think it will just be a video message or a live connection.
1. Basel/Lugano , both would be great. 2. Weirdly enough after so many disappointments and awful things in recent two years, I am hopeful that this year will cleanse our bad memories and make a step in new better direction. We need big shift asap and Real actions to improve it cuz EBU’s reputation has plummeted, sadly, the company is not taking that into account and we hardly expect any changes despite the fact that people responsible for this year mess are still working there. New set of clear rules needs to applied if they want their PR and contest thrive in this era.
I don't think the EBU is so biased against capital cities as they are against large, over-touristed cities. Amsterdam, Rome, London... there would have been no festival feel in those cities because Eurovision-goers would have been just a fraction of the tourists in town that week. And we know it wasn't in Stockholm because the arenas were booked by football teams (and a certain American singer in concert?). Bern (133k) is just one-sixth the size of Turin (886k)... if there's any reason it's not there, it'll be the small size, not that they refuse to host in capitals.
For the record, I think it will be Zurich because it strikes the right balance of venue (Geneva's Palexpo reminds me of that proposed conference hall / would-be arena in Bologna that wasn't chosen) and hotel options (which are more limited in Bern and Basel).
Nemo could be great in terms of charisma, pre-show promotional escapades, positive interactions with the acts and green-room shenanigans. Nemo gives Swiss-Rylan vibes.
Don't sleep on the Basel 2025 concept. The city is very accessible to the other parts of Switzerland (direct trains to major cities in German-speaking and Italian-speaking Switzerland, plus some areas of Romandy). Basel, at the tri-point of France-Germany-Switzerland, gives attendees a unique choice regarding where to stay. The Basel Euroairport offers plenty of air-accessibility to other cities across Europe. Basel is adjacent to Alsace, France and Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Taking rail into account, Basel can be accessed from Paris, Berlin, Frankfurt, Milan and Amsterdam directly. Basel is quite walkable and pedestrian/public-transport friendly for the tourists who descend upon the host-city. St. Jakobhalle's capacity of 12'000 plus seems ideal as a venue. If we proceed with Alesia's assertion that capital cities are disadvantaged (I'm personally unsure about this in the Swiss context, because Bern is Switzerland's fifth largest city), this works in Basel's favour also. Honestly, Basel is the vibe also, quite frankly.
Indeed, plus the annual events like Art Basel demonstrate that the city of Basel regularly hosts events like this with ease, impressive as I say for a relatively small city. Big city logistics with small city (chill, safe, audibly quiet, though still cosmopolitan) vibes
Look I’m not sleeping on Basel. The only detractor they really have is that I think they are proposing a VERY BIG arena and I don’t think the EBU “wants,” a big arena- I think they want something small and manageable that can actually sell out. Switzerland already being so pricey limits the attendance a bit in itself.
@@AlesiaMichelle Thanks for the reply Alesia. I understand that you, specifically, aren't sleeping on the Basel 2025 concept; however from my perspective I see less mention of it, in the broader bubble, than I do of a Bern/Zürich scenario. Innocent question; St. Jakobhalle's capacity is very similar to Malmö Arena - how small do you reckon the EBU would want to go?
@@AlesiaMichelle Well I think that there really isn’t much difference between Basel’s and Zurich’s arenas in terms of capacity. The smallest arena is Palexpo in Geneva
Would love to see Celine..but kinda depends on her health also. Anything can change next year. People say she forgot about Eurovision but that is not entirely true. She mentioned it in that recent Priyanka Chopra movie. Host city does not matter to me. Sadly I know nobody who could be a good host in Switzerland 😢 I thought they were gonna ask Linda de Mol for the Netherlands but they forgot her too. And i know even less about Switzerland.
I think Basel would be a good choice for a host city, its a border city, so people could find accomodation on the german and french side. i dont think Kat Graham would be a good choice. Trevor Noah, well maybe, i dont think its impossible, he did host award shows and he made a commercial for swiss tourism. Its not impossible at all. I dont think Swiss tv would choose him though....
Can we do full professional hosting this year but a bit serious, I dont need Petra Mede vibes two years in the row. I would sell everything i got if they would bring orchestra back. I need them to do maybe a bit what Netherlands or Portugal did, to keep it in their local fashion or to make it full professional. We don’t need Sweden copycat vibes.
Alesia Michelle would be a fab presenter, how's your French? I'm against 10 people on stage, finding affordable hotels rooms is bad enough now, without extra competition from performing artists.
All in all I expect good production and professional organisation, but I think it's gonna be a bit more formal and without too much humor from the hosts. Probably like Austria 2015.
Im living in that space and if that’s the case all I can hope for is REALLY good songs with actually UPBEAT tempos… cuz 2015 is one of my least favorite years Holistic
Voting from the top of the show has to go. Having the vote open that long allowed people who didnt even watch the show a 3 hour window to vote over and over with as many SIM cards as they wished. Limiting voting to the interval act would reduce the risk of televote hijacking like we saw this year.
I think maximum eight performers on stage. Some performances already feel too busy on stage. Especially when the stage is small or as you put it, intimate.
It’s not just for the “stage,” it’s so we can have 3-4 singers backstage on the mic and NO prerecorded backing vocals. The 10 request comes with the removal of backing vocals on tracks
Do expect something simple, involving fans, public, Swiss population groups, children, migrants and refugees, down to the earth. Of course, professional but not only stars, more a representation of how diverse we are.
@AlesiaMichelle I heard an interview with the president of the the Swiss broadcaster (Gil Marchand) and the french speaking Eurovision presentator of the Swiss-French broadcaster for the last 32 years (Jean-Marc Richard). Both say that they agree with the Swiss-German and the Swiss-Italian channels that we do not want to make this a megalomaniac event. They want to do, what Lillehammer was for the Winter Olimpic. Something for the entire population, something that should be affordable for all people over Europe. And something that respects the environment. They spoke of a reset. To put the emphasis on the original idea, a coming together and not a divisive competition. They also do not want to make it a tourism add for all the expensive places for the elites of this world. They want to show the diversity of Switzerland. The theme should be something like "Living together with different cultures, languages". Maybe include our migrant population. In Switzerland almost 70% of the people are either first or second generation migrants from at least one parent. Of course, in Zürich or Geneva those are mostly Europeans that work for international organizations. But in the rest of Switzerland, we are not that rich and business-oriented. But nothing is decided. In August the city is communicated.
I'm sorry, but who are these people who think Bern is more formal and exclusive than Zürich and Geneva? They are making fun of us for being too simple.
When Ireland wins you should do a "nature-contest". You do not need lights and pyros and and all this stuff. Just transport everyone to the lake of Mývatn or to this beautiful Fjord just before the last hill on the road to Bakkagerði or to Jökulsárlón and give them a microphone. No trucks with tons of material, everybody gets good shoes and warm clothes. No staging outfits. It's not necessary. It would be the best Eurovision ever. No people fighting, no stress, only companionship. I have been in Iceland four times. It's the only place I sometimes miss. The nature and the people are incredible.
Sorry I cannot be excited for 2025, I'm still not over the debacle that was 2024. Until someone is held accountable for this year I just can't move on. Can't even stand listening to Eurovision songs, it's just too painful. And yes, I am Dutch.
I just want Eurovision 2025 to be apolitical for real, where all political messages are welcome on stage. Ukrainian, Russian, Israeli, Palestinian, Liberal, Conservative, Deeply Philosophical, Pointless Love Song. Whatever
I am from Basel, Switzerland and Nemo is from Biel7Bienne in Canton Bern. Basel is just near to the boarder in Germany and France and we have international airport in Basel.
I feel like I manifested a Swiss win this year and now I am working on Basel 2025! 😜
I hope it’s gonna be in Zurich or Basel. Last time Switzerland hosted it was in the French and Italian canton. So now could be in the German side
I thought so to. Basel is still in.

I said à live connection would suffice
I think the most she could do is a prerecorded video wishing everyone well.

Bern and Biel are way less expensive than Zürich or Geneva.

No. Trevor doesn't speak one of the national languages.
Bern is much more intimate and smaller than Zürich, Geneva or Basel😂. We are known to be slow and rural❤
Imagine Celine Dion hosting. That would be epic and iconic🤩
Isn’t she sick?
i don’t think she’d be able to do the hosting but a cameo from her would be more than enough for us lol

The last place interval acts should be saved for Norway or Germany since they have the most last places

If people want to do funny stuff they’ll do it in an hour-3-2… etc.
Bern would collaborate with Biel. There are talks. It's only 20 minutes from one venue to the other. With a Highway and a direct train.
