After years of not playin AoE2 I bought the Definitive Edition and, as per usual, I did a complete playthorugh of all the campaings. I have to say, the Mongol theme fits sooooo daaaaamn well for the Genghis Khan campaing... Getting an army, killing a traitor, invading China, it goes so well with any of those campaings that I get goosebumps any time I replay theme.

Mongols aren't a defensive civilization. Towers don't upgrade. Building strengths don't upgrade. But blacksmiths upgrade the armor and attack points of the soldiers. I prefer this civilization along with their brothers the Huns. I prefer them over European civilizations.

The Bulkans are still reeling from how hard the Turkish fkd the area during that time. The Mongols at least gave you a chance to surrender and if you did you and your people were allowed to exist and still practise your culture, just under thier rule.

My favorite level was the one the Mongols have to conquer both Russia and the Persians. I guess it must play very differently now as the Rus are now played by Slav civ and with the new units for the Persians.
