    I'm 15 years old and have wanted to learn SFM for a while. These tutorials really help. I now know how to do simple animations, use different rigs, import models from different games and more. These are the best tutorials on UA-cam!

      That moment when you have been working 7 months for a 30 minutes animation and exactly before finishing and saving your sfm crashes....this happened to me but at a GMod animation.

      +Unshippedtundra It takes time to learn it. Just need to watch these, mess with it for a while, then eventually you will start to pick it up and do something great with it, that is what I am doing now. You just need to keep going at it.

    This looks awesome. Having experience using editing software this looks great. Looks easy to use with the proper know how and sounds like you can do amazing work with it the more advanced the user wants to take it.

    I love how you say save your work at the end of the videos. I am creating a film while watching through these videos and I was just about to leave my computer without saving. Also, thankyou for making these (I would be so lost otherwise), and thankyou for releasing the SFM.

    So I have a habit of not saving my SFM work until I'm finished with the whole project.
    So whenever you say "And remember to press Control S to save you work" I was like: Ooh, can't forget that.

      Yup, your gonna lose a lot of stuff if you don't save often. It's worth making a habit because in the end it'll save you a lot of time.

    Confusing and hard at first, but not impossible. I recommend taking simple notes on certain shortcuts and their purpose so you don't forget later on, if you keep forgetting the information.

    It seems as if a lot of people think that this is going to be some super-easy intuitive program. It wont. If you want to make a nice looking SFM, your going to have to spend a lot of time practicing, plus a lot more. 3D animation of any sort is super time consuming, and requires a lot of patience.

    At a young age and intrested in making animations in tf2, this helps a ton and you don't understand how much this helps. I created a little film called "badwater gameplay".

    Its really cool that Valve would release something like this. Its a win win really. Now that the average person can make a really slick looking machinima. there will be more videos about their game, also this will keep their community happy with these kinda things. Valve knows how to treat their community.

    To anybody starting out, I would recommend 13.1 Pose to pose animation, It is a lot easier to follow, And requires no prior knowledge of SFM, or animation in general. It takes you through every step and leaves nothing up to chance.

    So if you moved a shot with ALT + SHIFT and you made a mistake, how do you put the shot back to the original place so as to avoid the entire scene from skipping time?

    That interface is so damn sexy. I bet Autodesk and Adobe and crying they couldn't get a program 1% as good as this. Now all we need is Valve to make their own 3D modelling and rendering software.

    TF2 is the pinnacle of Valve's source engine development. It's a live, well played lab rat that they can use to test new systems and features for the Source Engine. This is one of them.

    Before you record, there is an option to have it from a first-person perspective. It's on the menu before you hit Record.

    I'd say it is way easier than most video editing tools out there.

    You cut up the recording, so you can change the camera angle for the clip you've just cut from the main clip. I.e, you have an overview camera shot, you cut the clip with the blade, and then you can change the angle of the clip you just separated into a close-up. Hope this helped.

    It helps if you follow what he's doing. Try doing every step of the tutorial that he's doing, sort of like your at school. That's what I'm doing. It helps especially because if there was something you didn't understand you could just go back to it and see what you did wrong, or what you missed. In a way, it's alot better than school. You don't have to take notes, just rewind what he said.

    Question: I have a 3 shot sequence, but want to alter what the actor in the first shot does without messing with anything else. Is there a way to remove individual actors from the set so I can just rerecord it?

    Well it's actually much easier than the gmod.

    So, I have the Gmad converter. Now how do I import Gmod stuff into SFM? I just recently got SFM and would really like to make a movie. =/ I've tried converting things, but have no clue how to get it in SFM.

    So I made a scene in which an engineer's sentry was supposed to shoot at these characters running by, but the sentry doesn't seem to attack. How do I make it do that?

      After you build the sentry in sfm, it automatically becomes a part of the map. You have to make the animation of the sentries shooting

    I had the same problem for a while. I think you should click on the timeline where you would want it to be and press and hold "B" if not try pressing it a few more times after that, it just started to work like that for me, so I guess it's a matter of pressing and holding or just pressing it a lot. >3

    you know big visual effects studios have theyre own animation tools, they use max and maya for small jobs, when it goes to hard core stuff, there comes custom stuff.

    right click on the viewport, click render settings, and uncheck SSAO, this will greatly improve framerate while working
