Wow, I used to think, did someone teach him all of his famous gestures and pronunciations? NO they didn't. OMG I love this dude even more. HE is real. I fucking love him.
The Ants were running for their life's when got attacked by The Bollock Brothers at BBC studio 😁 - Billy was in Jocks legendary Punk Rock football team
@Milpup I have some opinions...1 Unlike most punkers Billy liked Elvis and paid tribute to him often as in this video. They understood the show business aspect and hypocrisy of punk and made fun of it. A good example is the name "Billy Idol" a direct slam on the trend to name yourself something tough like Rotten, Vicious etc.
Love it! I started listening to Billy Idol circa 1983... with Hot in the City, then on to Rebel Yell, etc. He's got so many good ones--I don't know why Dancing with Myself is the only one that's remembered...it's good, but so is this & his other solo stuff
damn... i meant X... FUCK! Im not the 1st person to miss 1 key from the actual target. oh well.... i guess ill get a bunch of lame fucktards correcting me. fuck em'
Remember this well, have it on vinyl. I always rated Gen X, but strangely they were never that huge in the UK, Billy only became big after he left them.
Thing about this tremendous song that makes it cooler is that dolls are pills. Billy is un-fucking touchable. If Elvis was around, he would’ve been proud.
Every year, I write a comment to this video. Last year, my girlfriend came to me and now we live together. She thinks, that Billy Idol´s hairstyle is very STRAIGHT!!!!! XD You know what I mean!
Saw Billy get smacked in the chops by a Grebo at the Kings Hall in Derby in 1978. Credit to him though, he got up and carried on with the Gig. ( no one tackled the biker as he was about 20 stone).
I know Americans go on about us Brits having bad teeth etc but watching Billy on this clip, even back then makes me think he was blessed in many ways. Including his teeth! He had perfectly straight ones! I wonder if he's had them done since. I hope not! Just Hollywood whitened! He was much more covered up in the punk days too...More's the pity!
old punk rock school...Idol and Bowie both kings of Glam and the really significate of "SEX,DRUGS AND ROCK N' ROLL BABY!!!" The only one, i like the hair, clothes, everything!
definite right? ian and mott had this sound down perfect 5 yrs bfore. hey london calling to me is an lp Mott coulda made if they woulda hung with Guy Stevens a bit longer. this was all mishmashed from this point. Bowie Iggy Pistols Mott Clash NYDolls GenX were drinking from the same cup. very interchangeable.
Yes, and lyrics are so much less cheesy these days... let us all give thanks for the rise of songwriting by commitee, which has brought us the genius works of, hmmm, well, pretty much any jackass popstar on the charts nowadays.
Damn, they had such swagger and personality.
Billy Idol is a living legend! Interesting to see his beginning!
ikr! Very cool!
Mark Laff in maximum Keith Moon mode. Everybody was so down on him, I bloody LOVED his drumming.
Everyone I knew thought he was God.
He was a solid drummer,no complaints here
Saw Gen X in the very early days. Laff was one of the reasons I picked up the sticks. He was thunder!
Best lips in rock n' roll.
I spent months practising his sneer, until I finally perfected it.
This is how I'll always remember Billy. Very beautiful guy.
That album is clearly underrated. I think it's marvellous.
Wow, I used to think, did someone teach him all of his famous gestures and pronunciations? NO they didn't. OMG I love this dude even more. HE is real. I fucking love him.
Billy Idol and this Elvis Presley lip... So genius!!!!....

As a lyricist and stylist, Billy couldn't be touched in 78/79. Then Adam Ant broke all records! x

Thing about this tremendous song that makes it cooler is that dolls are pills. Billy is un-fucking touchable.
If Elvis was around, he would’ve been proud.
@digitalwatcher Actually, I really bet people would like to forget you said that. This song takes any song of today to school and back, digital boy.
@rdp3537 I have yet to look for all this on iTunes. I only had tapes of Gen X and early Billy Idol w/Steve Stevens.
Ca plane pour moi (That´s fine by me).
Likewise, mate. Have a nice one.
All the best from Sweden.

What about Billy & Tony? I love all of them!!
NoiseAnnoys Yes Yes GX and Empire both great!!
Billy Idol's version of Dancing with Myself is the same as Gen X's version.
Nope... There's a difference there's more pronounced guitar in Gen X version 👍👍 It's after the middle part
I know Americans go on about us Brits having bad teeth etc but watching Billy on this clip, even back then makes me think he was blessed in many ways. Including his teeth!
