Now this is a MeatEater waterfowl video to get excited about. Nothing in this video screams marketing or collab. Way better than those other waterfowl hunting videos this year. Cal is so much more like the rest of us... he makes me feel like I'm at his level and can learn from him like a friend. Great video. More of this please!
Agreed, no collabs, no whining and no excuses like the last few waterfowl videos that they've put out this year. Cal is genuine and beats the tone-deaf bro culture that's getting pretty bad at ME lately.
I've hunted ducks in Stuttgart, AR. It is a slaughter! When the ducks come in, they are mostly committed until they hit the water. And the number of ducks that show up is hard to believe without experiencing it.
I grew up on the Arkansas river in the Arkansas River Valley hearing duck hunters blasting all season, but never could find anyone to mentor me in duck hunting. Thought I found someone this year, but they flaked. I hope to one day try this. Kind of a rich man's sport though, everything costs so much.
Nothing better than a well trained black lab at work. Great video, what an experience. Good tip is plucking in a bowl of water, way faster and less mess.
Head south to Felsenthal next time you’re that way. Hunted a lot of timber between the river and OK line! Upper Ouachita in Louisiana, maybe 2-3 hours away is good too. That’s where the Duck Dynasty guys hunt (adjacent) Nice and crisp, cool overcast day where I’m at. “Low ceiling” my uncle would say. Hearing them boys blow calls makes me want to get the waders out and walk the creek this weekend.
I find ducks with brown bellies here around Puget Sound. I always heard it was being on mudflats in our estuaries, or in muddy fields. We certainly don’t have rice fields around here!
Never think it’s too late in the morning to make a move. Most days here in west tn they don’t start flying good till 11 or later. I think it has a lot to do with ducks having too much hunting pressure in the mornings. Most public land hunters will leave around 9-10 and possibly earlier than that if ducks aren’t moving. I’ve seen plenty of times somebody beat us to our spot so we hunt somewhere else till they leave. Then go set up in that same spot and shoot a full limit mid day.
I wonder how much first lite gear they bring with them to give out at every shoot. Every video every person is wearing first lite, naturally, I would too but dang can I get a free $500 outfit lol
Never trust the wisdom from a skinny hunter. That big dude over there. I want his advice. lol That has nothing to do with this video, just had to comment and that came to me for some reason. Great show Cal!
I don't care what kind of hunting it is, if Cal is on the video i'm watching!!!!

A good flooded timber duck hunt is on my bucket list. Looks like such a good time.
good ole Cal, love everything he's in man. what a guy!
This is better than any of the waterfowl series meat eater does. I’d love to see Max get his chance at a duck series.
Dakota corn mallards, Arkansas timber mallards, and Lake Superior golden eye are three dream hunts
*MeatEater* Bravo well done, thank-you sir for taking the time to bring us along. GOD Bless.
Only one thing missing from this episode… SNORT!!
That dog is amazing!
A treat to watch. Pup went to work!
The best fun I ever had was hunting woodies and mallards in flooded timber on the sutter bypass in CA. I’ll NEVER forget that hunt.
My favorite fella, hunting my favorite game to target!
grew up doing this and it gives me chills to see it these 40 some odd years later
Good ole uncle Kevin. Miss hunting that place with those guys, such a great time.
Great episode.
Good ducks, good friends.
God Bless you guys.
Now that looks like fun for the dog! Amazing!
As I get more experienced, looking for the perfect decoy is more enjoyable than stacking them. Good episode
We love you cal!

Im from south texas in the same boat. One day I might give in and pay a guide to take me out and hopefully be willing to teach me.
A dream hunt for me. Thank you so much for the video.

I’d like to see @Ryan Callaghan do another ruffed grouse hunt
Good ol Arkansas duck hunting!
I recently got to hunt my fist ducks. I was amazed, at how fast those things are!
It's not waterfowl hunting without Cal yelling " Snort!"

Went to school in East Arkansas but never got to hunt flooded timber. The guys I knew that did seemed to limit every time they went!
I’m right across the river from y’all …Bolivar county, MS. Folks who haven’t hunted timber before don’t know what they’re missing. God Bless
We used to hunt stuttgart every year. Duck ssn in AK is like no other.
I gotta go duck hunting. This looks like so much fun!!
Great video love it!
Just give us 20 more episodes of this instead of flying v

“Hard to get Arkansas timber ducks in Montana…”😂😂
When are we going to see FL waders?
Beautiful dog work!
This is the sort of stuff I was hoping for from meateats new duck series. Unfortunately its just not.
Agreed this is better than any of the meateater waterfowl shows except duck camp dinners.
Good stuff!
What is Cal wearing on his chest?

Please Do a tutorial on how you deboned it
Surely this is from last year unless the meateater team like to open season up early lol
Boom
Woo pig sooie baby.
Where was Snort??

It’s a smart method for advertising their brand
When possible I’m 100% a duck snob
Duck camp dinners is much better but im from south Louisiana so kinda biased
Woo Pig baby
So let me get this correct, bacon wrapped duck breast is somehow the best method to cook😂🤦♂️

I feel ripped off. We got Cal, we got ducks, we got good shootin', BUT NO SNORT? Terrible, like a punch in the gut
Smell us now, Ma!!!
That boy did in fact not need a leg
At least we didn’t have too endure Cal screaming at his piss poor gun dog in this video…
Why do you watch? All your comments on ME videos are hatorade.
Pretty good episode besides that gay celebration at the end
Woo pig baby
@ haha
