- In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. There's one thing I'm gonna miss when the X-Men join the MCU, and that's Fassbender as Magneto. He's just too perfect.
Fassbender has been a brilliant Magneto. I hate to say this, but I think he already surpassed Sir Ian McKellen.
Mags was good in the last one, and now he's evil again. Every single movie he's like this.

This ain't a reboot its the sequal to apocalypse which was a sequal to days of futures past that had the x1-3 cast. This is a sequel. Reboots start something all over again.

Technically a sequel/prequel/sister sequel can be a reboot. Like Jurassic World and Ep.VII and X-Men: First Class. Though I agree that this is already in the realm of the rebooted half of the series. Reboots have at least somewhat of a cooling off period, I feel.

I think I get the timeline. Basically, first class should be the very first film, then X-Men 1,2,3 and then days of future past. Because of the events of DOFP, X-Men 1,2,3 never happened. however first class stays the same because DOFP was based after the events of first class. then it goes apocalypse and dark Phoenix which are films based in the alternate future which DOFP changed.
I was starting to believe that this won't be released and here's the trailer all of a sudden.

I think it matches the comics quiet well in that way as Charles is a man who loves his friend, but not what his friend does. He always holds out hope, because that's what The dream is about, Hope that one day the world will be as good as it deserves to be, thus Charles hopes Eric will one day be the great man charles knows he can be.

I think this trailer was put together before all the major reshoots. Just so frustrating that they cut out most of the scenes between Jean & Scott which are pivotal to the original story. Gives the ending a lot less weight. I'm hoping we'll see some of these scenes or even an extended cut of the film on Blu Ray (much like the Rogue Cut for DOFP).

They cut out those scenes along with others because it was being re-edited to be a stand-alone film due to the merger.
I don't expect a masterpiece like Days of Future Past but I do want a movie that is better than Apocalypse that will last.

I am excited for both Dark Phoenix and New Mutants... but they didn't tell us why Dark Phoenix was reshot and pushed back to June... My best guess is that Alita Battle Angel is being give the February-March month to set the stage for that Month... Might explain the pushed back schedule...

This Guy while some of the hate is stupid, there are valid reasons for concern. and this is coming from someone who likes the majority of the x men movies (except last stand and apocalypse). first of all, the guy directing this movie has never directed a movie before. a first time director handed a big Hollywood movie like this? not sure that's the best Idea. I feel like first time directors should start out with smaller projects and then move on to bigger stuff once they get a bit more experience. and I'm gonna just show you this ua-cam.com/video/OjuoUvIs1vQ/v-deo.html. also, beside getting delayed twice, the movie has been going under months of heavy reshoots. and a lot of times when we've heard about messy productions like this in the past (fant4stic, suicide squad, justice league) it's ended up not going so good. and there's been several reports from test screenings saying that the movie is terrible. not that you can always trust those, but when there are several different reports coming from different sources (and some have strong connections to this stuff thus being credible sources), and you combine that with the messy production and the first time director, I can't help but worry that it might be true. and I think the trailer itself is decent, but there's been a lot of times in the past where a trailer was good or even great and then the movie ends up being terrible. I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised, but my expectations are low.

there is no director's cut. the first bad screening took place in February 2018, the reshoots started in March 2018. the movie was said to be bad before the reshoots began.

Saavan Thethy New Mutants is a film within the X-men universe but it isn't the X-men. Mutants as a species are their own and that's what the X-Men are comprised of. So they're correct it's the last x-men film.

idk if people are stupid or what, but the timeline is NOT messy alright. You see the events from Days of The future past changed the past, so therefore the events of previous movies like the original X-Men, X2, and The Last Stand never happened okay? What they're doing is rebooting the franchise using the story itself unlike other reboots. That's why events like X Men Apocalypse and Dark Phoenis that never happened before is now happening because Logan changed the past creating some sort of a butterfly effect that caused all this other events to happen. It's as simple as that.

But if DOFP was set in the 70s, and quicksilver was a teenager, then in Apocalypse he should be in his mid 20s, because of the time jump. But this one is set in the 90s which must mean quicksilver is almost 40. And what about Magneto, Xavier, Beast, and Mystique, they should all be at least 50 in this one.

For everyone who doesn't know, Jean's main powers are telepathic but the other energy showed here in yellow and almost fire like is the Phoenix Force. Phoenix Force is an immortal entity that has bonded with Jean since she was a child (The car crash) and is the prime conduit of all psionic energy that has ever existed in the past, present and future in every multiverse. It also has the power to create and destroy. Even the whole universe. If you have seen the old X-Men: Last Stand, the power Jean used to tear people apart and almost disintegrate Logan is an example of that. I hope this helps anyone who is confused 👍

Now it looks like The Last Stand is completely dismissed as canon since people hated it so much. Same for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, it looks like they’re gonna follow the new storyline now.

@Alpha Maximus Fox never left his comfort zone of making low-budget movies to put his repetitive and tired drama, even in the soup. And what did that serve, if we have no trace of the Shi'ar or the superhero costumes or a well developed roast of characters (Cyclops, Rogue, Colossus, Storm, Iceman, Psylocke, etc, etc, etc)...? No doubt Marvel Studios' X-Men will be the real deal.

Storm is meh. What they REALLY need is to do Iceman right. He's an Omega level mutant and all the movies have portrayed him as being such a cry baby. At least they got my favorite, Nightcrawler, mostly correct with this guy.
Rogue in the movies is in a way more worse position. I mean she can STEAL anyone's powers. She could have been a badass character in any movie and they've messed it up. She almost got her chance in DOFP but her scenes were cut. So much potential, so wasted. :/

Even if this movie fails, I'm going to miss these X Men films. The franchise might have overstayed its welcome, but like Spiderman, I don't think the MCU X Men will be as great as the original X Men. I have a feeling the MCU will make the X Men more cartoony and quippy as their other characters.
Yeah, that's their style. It's Disney after all. Even when _Apocalypse_ was terrible and we'll see about this one, the darker, more real take on X-Men was brilliant.
they haven't been doing anything good since "The Wolverine" came out. split personality jean grey in 3 wasn't the right approach even in a more "realistic" X-men approach but this just looks like a freakin reboot. Disney made Spider man horrible but maybe they can at least get a better cast and they won't hold back from being supernatural, maybe juggernaut can have his actual power and the pheonix force will be a real cosmic thing not this nonsense.

As much as I like Wolverine, I'm glad he isn't in this movie. Because the phoenix saga is better with the relationship between Jean and Scott. The Last Stand killed Cyclops and gave that role to Wolverine, which I felt was forced.
But maybe wolvi will make a cameo like in the first class & apocalypss
