We've had The Dark Knight trilogy and the first Iron Man (exceptionally well told and cinematic films). If you're referring to R-Rated GOOD films, then yeah Deadpool was a breakthrough in more mature comic-book territory.
Im a huge Deadpool fan without a doubt, but to be honest Blade & Blade 2 hell even Blade 3 in my opinion were good examples of Rated R superhero films and the first to do it, but Deadpool shows you can make a Rated R superhero film in todays audience as long as it is done correctly then you have fan-boys support and even though Deadpool was not a widely known nor popular Anti-hero before the film.
Wouldn't say Ironman, TDKT, Captain America: Winter Soldier and Civil War, Watchmen, V for Vendetta, GOTG, Xmen: DOFP, and Spiderman 2 are "generic". They're great films that are nothing alike and they stand out in this genre.

Logan was the movie that took the typical superhero V bad guy story, shredded both the hero winning and the villain winning, and put this movie on such a grounded level, it was insane…the impact this movie had on me is still felt, so masterful in its execution that it has stuck with me ever since I first saw it. The characters weren't heroes, so much as they were people you could run across and never acknowledge, big budget movies such as an X-men film, don't have relatable characters for the most part, this is what this move offers and more. A real world, a dangerously real and possible one at that. I could not fathom this movie not getting an Oscar, and if it doesn't get an official one, the fans have certainly given it their Oscar full of praise and approval. A legendary film that can't be missed.

I remember in the time leading up to the film's release and soon after it, there was all the talk about Patrick Stewart should get a Best Supporting nomination. I never had any problem with that at all, but honestly I thought Jackman was exactly as much deserving for Lead.
This movie is aging VERY WELL. Basically we see a generation that is leaving and how young people are taking their place, but without forgetting them, honoring their sacrifice. There is also a good representation of the precariousness in which many people live. And the search for a new future, on a tortuous journey, with losses but also with growth and hope. It's basically the world we live in.

This movie excelled in every aspect. Dark, adult, gloomy, thought provoking, phenomenal performances from everyone involved, as violent as it needed to be, and a great send off for someone who perfected the role of Wolverine. The best thing I can say about this movie is that it's real. Every once of blood that is spilled, every tear that is shed in this movie is felt. This movie makes me feel such a range of emotions and it is such a well crafted masterpiece.
Of course the trailer is gonna show all the action and comedy of GOTG 2. Hardly anyone expected the first one to be as good as it was so just wait and see. I do think Logan looks more interesting though, but I have no reason to doubt that GOTG2 (and Spidey) will be amazing.
I don't understand why people want to compare the X-Men Universe with the MCU, they're both amazing in their own right, there's no need to compare or hate on one or the other, just appreciate both since they're both part of Marvel

Just saw this at a free screening. WOW. Goriest/Saddest Superhero flick to date. Also has many laughs. Makes Deadpool look like Cat in the Hat. Half the time, I forgot I was even watching an X-Men film. Beautifully crafted. A LOOOT of violence. Saving Private Ryan had a baby with X-Men, this is what you get. Not so much blood all over the place but rather a lot of close up skull and face impaling. One scene a bit disturbing to say at the least. But Awesome! Good stuff.
spoiler Possibly could be talking about the origin scene for x-23 where it shows her body pretty mutilated with certain sections of her skin removed and her claws being fitted. also has a brief part where she we see her from a security camera and she begins cutting into herself and looking into the camera while the wound regenerates. very horror-esque
I watched the movie at the red carpet screening, with the cast and crew. The scene in question disturbed quite a few people in the audience (including much older people). I'm not going to go into it, but that is the only really disturbing moment in the movie. Although, if your son has seen a lot of violence before (this is more violent than Fury Road), then he should be fine.

This movie excelled in every aspect. Dark, adult, gloomy, thought provoking, phenomenal performances from everyone involved, as violent as it needed to be, and a great send off for someone who perfected the role of Wolverine. This film is an absolute masterpiece that I recommend everyone should watch.

Hugh Jackman deserves an academy award, for his performance in this movie.
Finally a superhero movie that looks to be built off of emotion, instead of shallow special effects. Really looking forward to it!
Oh man at the end I was filled with tears. My heart was stabbed at the end when Logan died My crying level was just tears, but what the daughter did to the cross just made me have waterfalls coming down from my eyes. I just straight up cried.

The best thing I can say about this movie is that it's real. Every once of blood that is spilled, every tear that is shed in this movie is felt. This movie makes me feel such a range of emotions and it is such a well crafted masterpiece.

Of course the trailer is gonna show all the action and comedy of GOTG 2. Hardly anyone expected the first one to be as good as it was so just wait and see. I do think Logan looks more interesting though, but I have no reason to doubt that GOTG2 (and Spidey) will be amazing.

Brayden Campbell true. I like both. Even if X men crosses over the MCU right after dark Phoenix cuz that’s the last one. It doesn’t matter really. I bet the New X men movies near the future and whoever gets the part will play the new wolverine just as good as well. Hugh jackman played the part very good no matter what he’ll always be the number one best wolverine after 17 years of playing it. I will miss seeing his face on the big screen in action. But am excited to see the MCU cross over as well. 👍🏻

Just saw this at a free screening. WOW. Goriest/Saddest Superhero flick to date. Also has many laughs. Makes Deadpool look like Cat in the Hat. Half the time, I forgot I was even watching an X-Men film. Beautifully crafted. A LOOOT of violence. Saving Private Ryan had a baby with X-Men, this is what you get. Not so much blood all over the place but rather a lot of close up skull and face impaling. One scene a bit disturbing to say at the least. But Awesome!

Possibly could be talking about the origin scene for x-23 where it shows her body pretty mutilated with certain sections of her skin removed and her claws being fitted. also has a brief part where she we see her from a security camera and she begins cutting into herself and looking into the camera while the wound regenerates. very horror-esque
I watched the movie at the red carpet screening, with the cast and crew. The scene in question disturbed quite a few people in the audience (including much older people). I'm not going to go into it, but that is the only really disturbing moment in the movie. Although, if your son has seen a lot of violence before (this is more violent than Fury Road), then he should be fine.
