I like getting the arm parts because they, along with the charged Shotgun Ice and normal Boomerang Cutter are your best friends for these type scenarios lol
A month or two ago, I had nothing to do so I tried to get the body parts without the leg upgrades. Now I know its actually possible to do! Crazy timing
@@ColeFam I just completed this challenge a few minutes ago, and I must say, it was very fun! The seven-pixel wallkick came in handy, although I think I did it in a much different and easier for me way. Also I used the charged rolling shield to bypass the leg Light capsule mentioned by @Dominus396 and was very surprised that its a thing. This game is a lot more open-ended than I previously thought.
This was very enjoyable to watch. I always thought of doing a “Chill Pinguin last” run, but assumed most upgrades would be unobtainable, and then never attempted.
Yeah, something I remembered basically the day after publishing the video. Still happy about the the Chameleon Heart and the roundabout Penguin heart solution, but yeah, big blunder on my part.
Oh wait, yeah. Having the shield charged doesn't activate the capsule, that's right! I forgot all about that happening with the Hadoken capsule. Time for a follow-up, haha. Thank you for the information.
Anything is possible when you cheat! I honestly said "Oh, my god" as I watched X use the Ice Sled in Mammoth's stage, knowing what was about to happen. Fantastic moment and genius move. Just goes to show how well-designed this game is mechanically, and what you can do when you get creative. Still the Best 1993.
Normally you would have the leg parts when backtracking to collect items and capsules you missed. And you usually wont have the charge weapons because most people will do this before going to the final levels. So yeah, it's not surprising you wouldn't think of it.
@@ColeFam The Icey Nudge of the the sled might just be what I need. Using PAR codes I jail broke the Chameleon Ride Armor and used it against RT55-J. This causes the capsule to not fully activate. The charged sled might just break the soft lock.
I had no idea there was another big Mega Man channel like yours until the other day. It's been a long while since I last got into Mega Man, this is very good to see!
I hope you enjoy! Thank you for giving us a chance. More stuff like this in the Mega Editorial playlist, and more podcast-style stuff in the Ramblin' Reploids playlist!
The leg part capsule was added late in development when it was decided that the dash was a bit too much for new players to get used to right away, hence why it's in this awkward spot where it's impossible to miss but also very possible to not get until fairly late in the game, assuming you don't know about it. It's kind of obvious in retrospect, since the dash is readily available in every sequel.
It's cool that you found the trick to make it possible to play the game (mostly) without dashing! Definitely makes repeat play less focused on fighting Chill Penguin first!
No Dash is super fun! I have a follow-up Short coming showing another way to get passed the Leg Capsule. I feel sully, because I knew it, but it just didn't click in my mind for some reason. Be on the lookout for that soon-ish
Great game to figure out ways to challenge oneself without using certain items. I'd have to look it up but isn't there a game genie code that can give you a pseudo dash in this game
I clearly remember being like 9 or 10 and playing this game (rented) and spending like 2 solid days trying to get the gun upgrade in mammoth stage. No internet assistance. When I discovered that, i was the only one in my world that knew about it and it was so satisfying.
When I was a kid, I never even knew there was anything up there. My friend and I only knew about getting it from Zero. That must have been a really cool discovery back then!
Oh yea I didn't even know what was up there. funny thing is I went back on emulator and with input lag or whatever it was actually pretty tricky to get again.@@ColeFam
This video teaches me that: -Never skip a leg day -Dash is a very essential and iconic part of the X and Zero series -This video has no right to be informative about new glitch yet it do -Learned something new from an old game Overall, this is a great video and love a tad bit humor as well! Can't wait to see more from you.
X just needs the shoes he was born with. Playing dash-less forces you to get creative with practically everything, it's fun, but not nearly as fun as dashing. Thanks for watching!
Aditionaly you can input the demo password and you will start the game with all mavericks defeated but no upgrades of any kind. Head to sigma and get the arm parts from zero. Then use boomerang cutter and shotgun ice for anything the legs would have
You can get the arm parts to do it by jumping over flammoths out of bounds trick and constantly tapping the left right button and jump right ove the creavas. Its difficult as hell but it can be done. My saved password is 4777 7777 7777.
@@Bloodstar-o7 yeah, but to get it from Zero you need to kill the penguin, and to reach the penguin without dashing you need the Buster upgrade first (which you cannot get without dash or the Buster upgrade from Zero, for which you need to kill the penguin... and you get the point)
I'm not sure on why you bothered to include the demonstrated dash X does since it's COMPLETELY out of the player's control. It's like trying to do a no damage run of this game and trying to figure out how to skip the 2 Vile "cutscenes" where the player MUST take damage to continue the game. Because it's out of your control, it therefore shouldn't be counted, otherwise it just looks/sounds stupid.
Including that takes away the fun of trying to figure out new things that haven't been tried before. Anyone can go in and say "this one doesn't count," but finding new tricks just feels more fun and makes an overall more fun project.

Be sure to check out the thrilling sequel where we actually get through the Leg Capsule!
The fact that you found a new trick 30 years after this game came out is amazing.
Happy almost 30!
I like getting the arm parts because they, along with the charged Shotgun Ice and normal Boomerang Cutter are your best friends for these type scenarios lol
Literally me! I didn't realize the leg parts were needed first because it was the 6th stage i went to
A month or two ago, I had nothing to do so I tried to get the body parts without the leg upgrades. Now I know its actually possible to do! Crazy timing
The trick is referred to as a "seven-pixel jump". As you can see, I'm no expert at it, but tutorials should exist for it.

Penguin sled for the win! It’s even cooler than I thought it was.
"cooler"
We need a ColeManX art exhibit some day
Seeing shotgun ice pop the wall made my jaw drop.....
This was very enjoyable to watch. I always thought of doing a “Chill Pinguin last” run, but assumed most upgrades would be unobtainable, and then never attempted.
Going the extra mile and doing the boss order in complete reverse is really fun, too!
Dude, to get the heart with no leg part in Chill Penguin's just charge Sting Chameleon and pass the capsule while invincible
Yeah, something I remembered basically the day after publishing the video. Still happy about the the Chameleon Heart and the roundabout Penguin heart solution, but yeah, big blunder on my part.
So proud of you! Would love a similar concept applied to X2 and X3! No need to hurry though!
I'm wondering what I could do for X2 and X3...maybe getting upgrades in unintended ways? Sorta the same concept, right?
Simply outrageous.
I have been wondering if there was any way to get the other upgrades without the seemingly mandatory legs for years.
Cool solution for Sting Chameleon's heart tank. That's using your head 😜
I love this.

Those really surprised me! I had originally written them to be impossible before experimenting a bit.
That was an interesting challenge Cole Man X. I hope you can do this type of challenge in the future

Imagine playing Megaman X without dash... The whole game would feel sooooo slow paced.
That just shows how awesome Mega Man X is :)
MegaManX without dash?! You psychopath
Before watching, I predict…
Six heart tanks, missing Eagle and Chameleon
Three subtanks, missing Mammoth
Head, Body and Arm capsules.
Well I derped and just forgot about Boomerangs for the Mammoth subtank.
Eagle and Chameleon hearts were very impressive.

It's so weird seeing X with all of the armor without the feet!
How did you skip the dash boots upgrade? If you run thru Chill Penguin stage, its in the way.
Password that only defeats Penguin and doesn't collect any upgrades. The password is at the beginning of the video after the title card.
Where did you get the MegaMan x font I've been looking for it for a while now still can't find it
Sprinqgueen drew it from scratch. I wish there was a font available.
