I love your channel and since I have been trying to go back to my curls you have been a great help. Thanks for the product suggestions and the technique. I am 58 years old and have been covering gray and straightening my hair since high school in the 80's.
Yay! You had me at 8inches. This could really help me. Still working on the diffuser method that works best for me. You make it look easy. Beautiful results again❤
Well that's just great 😒 So last summer I bought the Dyson, &c couldn't help myself & bought the shark (for the diffuser really) a couple weeks ago and of COURSE curlsmith had to bring out the big guns & launch a dryer with a huge diffuser! AHHHHHHHH!😆
The Shark is an amazing dryer and I still recommend it! I switch around but have been reaching for the Curlsmith one lately because it still dries my hair quick but with less heat
This information on the Curlsmith hairdryer was an absolute game changer for my curly/frizzy hair. It took me so long to finally buy it because i tried cheaper alternatives with just buying different diffuser attachements for my hair dryer. Wish I had just saved myself a lot of time and frustration and bought this diffuser. Its hard to believe it can dry the hair so quickly without high heat that I am used to and it makes the world of difference in the final results. Thank you so much for all your videos and for all the information you have shared. I have watched and re-watched countless times when I was trying to work with loving my curly hair
Thank you!! This is basically me ...... "Do I buy the Curlsmith dryer, or do I keep doing endless research and getting more and more confused?" It's a bit like trying to pick paint colours ...... fifty shades of everything!! I shall go and seal the deal. ❤
Great review, Gena! I bought the Curlsmith blow dryer, and I love it. I used it for the first time yesterday with the Miracle Shield and my other favorite Curlsmith products. My coily hair came out defined and moisturized using the stretch method.
I am still pretty new at all of this, but I love the Shark dryer. Plopping and hovering looks very promising! You always look great! Thanks for all of your hard work!
I happen to be in the market for a hairdryer and was thinking of the Shark! However, I might opt for this instead! Hopefully those Ulta 20% off coupons will apply at some point!
I was able to buy this dryer from Sephora for less than a $100. I used my 2500 points to get a $100 off coupon. You definitely want to make a smaller purchase and select the reward offer which then can be used towards future purchases. So if you're a big Sephora shopper like me you can take advantage of that!
going through all of your beginner videos and taking many notes! (for later lols) I am sort of a beginner curly hair gal and need much help. I want my curls to have their best life, they have so much potential!
Thanks for sharing I’m a tightly coily curly and I’ve been trying to decide between Shark and Sally’s Ion Luxe Supercharged hair dryer. I might get this one because it’s definitely less expensive.
I just got the blue Dyson at Christmas and I love it, but yes the reviews are correct for pixie diffusing it is too hot and I use the cold shot button a lot. I do wish it had a warm setting. I have arm pain and I do think the short Dyson is better as with a long dryer like that I would worry that it puts the arms in such an awkward position. The diffuser looks really interesting.
After finding many high-end dryers too hot for me (including the Shark), I actually found a dryer I LOVE because it gives unprecedented control over both temp and air flow, so I’m not in the market for a dryer but its diffuser is meh. I was thinking of getting the black orchid diffuser for it. Looks like you can’t buy the curl smith diffuser separately? Also how does the curl smith diffuser compare to the black orchid? The curl smith one looks wider but the black orchid looks deeper (so wouldn’t smash my curls in a wonky way when pixie diffusing). Btw, you should check out and review the hair dryer I got because the level of control and versatility it has is amazing! I want to tell everyone about it! I wish it had those prongs on the back though so you didn’t have to hold it, that is a cool feature of the curl smith dryer. Anyway, it’s the FHI Heat Elite professional series dryer. It’s near Infrared heat, has an ion generator you can turn on and off, has a digital read out of temp so you know exactly what the temp is, has a crazy number of options/combinations for heat and air flow (and the lowest air flow is so gentle I can do pixie without turning it on/off with no problems!), is low EMF radiation, has a locking cool shot button, and it’s even dual voltage! Now if I can just find the perfect diffuser to top it off!
I wish you would do a video on the shampoo and conditioner living proof line they have the frizz and they have a whole section for just curl hair I would love to see someone do that
I’m torn between buying the curl smith and the Shark. I love how big the diffuser is on the curl smith but the adjustable diffuser on the shark is pretty cool. I struggle with volume I feel like the shark would be better.. ugh don’t know which one to get!
I’m definitely considering doing a full comparison video. I do love the very long prongs on the shark however I like that the curlsmith uses warmer air and not such high heat although I haven’t noticed heat damage from either
@@GenaMarie I just bought the shark after seeing you use it and now I’m wondering if I should keep it or return it for the curlsmith one! I’d love to see a full comparison! Is there a difference in how loud they are? The shark is much louder than the dyson I had previously!
Damn my big head would probably love it but my husband gave me a dyson soooo maybe one day when dyson dies 😅 But the shield primer sounds great for Florida since I do go out to the beach and sometimes pool, cant wait to protect my curls!!
If it is not broken, then no need to break the bank ladies and gents. Theirs always going to be the new best thing 😑. Mind you the BEST is depending and a decision made differently by everyone.
Thank you Gena for all your videos! They are so informative and I've learned tons from you! I recently got the miracle shield heat protectant and have used it just once. So, is it supposed to be used before the curl cream/leave in conditioner or in between the cream and the gel?
Yay! thank you! It says after leave-in and before stylers, which would include cream. Since I don't use a leave-in and just use a cream and gel, I usually apply the spray first to clean hair, then follow up with cream and gel.
The Shark is an amazing dryer and I still recommend it! I switch around but have been reaching for the Curlsmith one lately because it still dries my hair quick but with less heat
I already recently bought the Shark and still figuring it out. The price is about the same. Downside is that it's heavy, which means I won't likely travel with it.
Deb - can I ask if you’re UK based. I think the shark is different in US vs UK, and just purchased shark but concerned about what you say about high temp. Also do you mean appliance or air flow is too hot? Thanks
I wish the dryer itself wasn't so long. I've been using a really cheap diffuser because it's the only one that isn't so long that I feel like I have to be Mrs Incredible to hover with it, and I can't justify the price of the Dyson or the Shark!
I don't think I can ever go back to that style of dryer after using the Shark... simply because I have short arms and the Shark is so much easier to hold. I will say, however, that the little kickstand feature on this one is pretty nifty. But the diffuser bowl does not look deep enough. It looks like it would just smash my long hair if I do the scrunch/pixie diffusing.
I live in Germany and am wondering if the voltage says 110-220v on the power chord. Would you mind please checking to see? I’ll be so excited if I am able to use it here!
Hi Gena, could you compare the Shark hyper air with the curl smith dryer? I am trying to decide between both. I have long, High density, medium width hair. Any thoughts here?
Hi Gena! Hope you’re having an excellent day ☀️ or night 🌙 lol. I want to ask what is the wattage of the dryer? I tried looking for it in the website and didn’t find it. Thanks in advance 🙏🏼
If you want the large size dryer and don't want a dryer that gets hot, get the Curlsmith. If you like the really long prongs and more heat, go with the Shark!
Hi Gena I tried to diffuse my hair upside down but the problem is the hair from the back area separated to right and left and then when I finish diffusing and turn my hair upright, i find gap “space” in the back area , Is there any solution to prevent this or i should diffuse it upright position only??? I contacted curlsmith and got following response- It is currently US exclusive but we may consider bringing the the UK/EU soon!
How can you remove the diffuser? I have the dryer and it is completely stuck and I cannot remove it, it is impossible.
plop and hover, but I'm going to incorporate the pick to the crown

Laifen Pro
Laifen Swift
Bellissima Diffon Supreme

Yeah just a little bit but not enough to where I feel like I have to turn it off in between sections. But you could
I’m only just realizing I’ve been taking care of my hair wrong so now im tryna undo years of damage 💀
Do you use the prongs to lift your roots right after you're done plop diffusing, or do you wait until your hair has dried a bit more?
I sort of do some of both. I would say I do more route lifting with a prongs towards the end
