I'm kinda surprised that you don't know. This song was talking about how girls wants to change who they are so they can get compliments and get liked because the lyric said, "No one will love you if your unattractive." And "baby soft skin turns into leather" means that when you get older, your skin is gonna change and it won't be soft. Girls struggle so they get plastic surgery to be beautiful because they're scared. As you can see, she got plastic surgery because the man wanted her to change but all he did was damage a beautiful girl.
This is why I love Melanie's songs. It's just so meaningful for girls about this song. I'm 12 and sometimes I feel that I'm not that skinny but I don't have to change for people who think that I'm not perfect because nobody it perfect.

It is actually. Her hair isnt that long actually. If you looked at soap and other pictures her real hair is actually to her shoulders, I'm sure she has to trim and cut it from all the dye. Her hair still an icon :D

I was actually planning on getting my teeth "fixed" bc mine are even more crooked than hers and I would see all those commercials like "tired of hiding your smile? are your teeth not good enough?" but I saw this music video and I'm definitely spending that money to fix something that's actually broken now
what's sad is that commercials like that are scientifically designed to trigger your insecurities in your brain. I took classes that broke it down into fragments & the whole point of the commercials is to make you feel like you're missing out, and they make you believe that if you have flaws, you should want to fix them. but some of the happiest people I know are people who don't give a fuck about what anybody thinks. one day we're all gonna be dead, and nobody's gonna remember you as having a perfect set of teeth, or a bad set of teeth, they're gonna remember the way you made them feel, and the legacy you left behind. none of that matters. don't fall for it , get it done if its gonna tmake you better on the inside and not just on the outside. I know plenty of people who have had surgeries , and its helped them be a better them.
