    =======================================================
    Hey guys! Welcome back!
    Today, we got the chance to review the FMS V2 800mm warbird! We got this warbird because we were impressed with the other FMS 800mm size warbird, the FMS F4U Corsair. This plane just like the F4U had the same type of build where you had to install all the control horns manually. It was not difficult but it was tedious!
    All the reviews we read about this plane showed that this plane is inherently tail-heavy! The reviews were spot on! In order to achieve the manual recommended 40mm CG, we had to use a 3S 1300 mAh LiPo along with eight 1/4 ounce steal weight! Even with that, it was still a bit tail-heavy during flight but was adjustable with trim. To do this, we had to shave foam off the nose cavity and stick the weights wherever we could fit them.
    In flight, the Zero is an absolute blast to fly! With the 3S she is agile and fast!
    Needless to say, this is not a beginner plane! Flying and landing this rocket of a warbird definitely requires some previous 4-channel stick experience.
    The good news about this warbird is that it is able to taxi and take-off very straight unlike other tail-dragger warbirds like the F4U.
    Because this came as a PNP, you do need to supply your own transmitter, receiver, LiPo and LiPo charger.
    Overall, we are happy with this warbird after we got over the CG hurdle!
    Enjoy the video and please subscribe to my channel! Thank you!

    I have watched a few videos of this plane before mine arrived. You guys were the first to identify that achieving the CG required significant weight being added to the nose. And, yes, I found that I had to add some lead to the cowling to achieve the proper CG. I also found that I had to change out the servo arms on the rudder and elevator to be able to come close to the manual throws. The elevator is still short of desired.

    25 seconds in the air and Jon did a low double roll on the first flight, I can only dream of being that good.

    Jon you're a great pilot buddy. Man that was a lot of weight needed to CG the plane. I never owned one of these 800 size warbird they seem to fly a bit squirrelly. You made it look easy Jon. Thanks buddy

      Thank you! The FMS F4U 800mm that I flew three weeks ago required no weights and balanced well on a 3s 1000mAh. I think its just this particular FMS model. All the reviews I read all had the same feedback.

    Had one but it was before gyro was something I knew about and it didn’t last long. Started buying 1200mm series warbirds. The small planes are good to transport many of them but if you don’t bring them back. Do you have a FMS 1100mm Zero? I’ve even took a 1400mm FMS Zero and mod it into a Kate torpedo bomber, Flyzone Zero into a Vale Divebomber and one into a 1145mm Oscar. All w/droppable bombs and torpedo 😃👍🏻✌🏻🖖🏻

    It is 790mm I have one and measured mine...problem I have is I had to add a lot of weight to the nose....70g of nose weight stuck under the cowl.. to get 40mm mark, using a 1000Mah 3s......thanks for this video as until now I thought I had made it wrong.....

    I got this the other day and tried several times to fly it with no luck. Not sure what I need to do but even with all the weight in the front it was still performing horribly. Not flying it with a giro and with a 2s battery like it was recommended. What do i need to do to make this plane fly right? I’ve crashed this every time I’ve put it in the air. Help😢

  • @rustyshacklesford4576
    @rustyshacklesford4576 3 роки тому +1

    I didn’t need to add any weight and that’s using both 1300 2s and a 1300 3s I prefer the 3s though!

    I saw your review on horizon hobby about this plane. I did the link and now I’m here! Also what’s the lead? Xt90 or xt60

    • @JonsRC
      @JonsRC  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks! The ESC lead is actually a red "JST" connector. If you skip to 05:41 of the video when we open the hatch, you can kind of see the ESC lead. The 3S 1300mAh LiPO that we used actually had an XT-60 connector so we had to buy an XT-60 to JST connector to make it work.

    Good job john, adding all that weight kinda tells me to stay away from it, not a fan of fms micros that need extra work to fly correct

    • @JonsRC
      @JonsRC  3 роки тому

      Thanks! Yeah. We weren’t too crazy about the mods either. But, the good news is she taxis straight unlike my FMS F4U and once she is in the air she is a blast to fly (once trimmed out).

  • @rafaeltorres2886
    @rafaeltorres2886 3 роки тому +1

    Cut the power and look at the glide rate
    then you'll know if your cg is good your thrust angle could be off creating up thrust under full power.
    Before adding weights consider installing a heavier battery pack instead it would be more useful if there is enough room for it.

    • @JonsRC
      @JonsRC  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the tip! Yeah we are going to look for maybe a 3s1600 and see if that will work.
