How I Became The Fastest Person to Earn the Platinum Trophy in the WORST Version of Silent Hill 2

- I have played Silent Hill 2 in so many ways I have decided to take on the dumbest challenge - The Silent Hill 2 platinum trophy.
This is the Silent Hill HD Collection version of the game which is notably terrible, even worse the platinum requires you to get a 10 star run from a fresh file. This means not only do you need a playthrough of the game that is near perfect, you also need to beat the game 6 times prior to this to get the ending requirement.
The game crashed several times and it was an absolute chore to play BUT I am now the fastest person to ever fully 100% complete the HD Collection Version of Silent Hill 2.
I hope you enjoy this since I've been wanting to experiment with other challenges in some of my favorite franchises

There was a shocking amount of Platinum gamers who did this since I think the site linked to anyone who got the platinum. Previously the fastest was 20 hours and this shortened it by 8. I was so happy to do regular Silent Hill 2 runs after since this controlled TERRIBLY
@Ecdycis what was the comparison you gave a long while ago for that? You compared it to your dog going to the bathroom in your yard as opposed to other dogs. Something to that effect

Funny thing about the movies, if you look at the Silent Hill Wikis, they cover who played what, right? But they go HEAVILY into detail about the guy who played the janitor and Pyramid Head

Finally finished the vod. You can definitely hear the nerves and fatigue during the final 10 star run. No wonder, it's the significantly hardest thing you have to do right at the end after, what was it, nearly 8 hours of mostly monotony. The two run killing crashes aside anyway.
But yeah, I'm a dedicated trophy hunter myself but I'm a poor speedrunner. So seeing people combine the two gaming sub-hobbies together is somewhat interesting to me. Very few people even try to do it, only Green Z-Saber really comes to mind and he's insane for it.
Regardless, belated congratulations. There's still plenty of room for improvement but I think it's safe to say it's good enough where it is. Doing it just once is an arduous enough experience.
As much as I'm looking forward to the remake I think I'm looking forward to your runs of it more!! 😂 also ec i worry about your eyes sometimes, i think on the 3rd or so play through you rubbed one for 20 seconds straight, please look after your peepers dude 😊 liquid gel tears are good stuff haha

holy shit, i got the plat with 496 damage taken. FUCK THE BOAT SECTION, I literally had to duck tape my controller to my desk and use my palms to rotate the sticks. Thanks for speedrun, I used it as a guide.

Damn i needed a reason to go back and finish the 10 star run on sh2 lmao. I was adament about getting every achievement in the hd collection on 360 and since you gotta do like 4 or 5 playthroughs before you can even attempt the 10 star run because of the endings i just kinda got bored because theres so many issues with that port. I wouldnt have minded playing it that many times if the port wasnt shit lol. i even remember the reason i dropped it was because i got burned out and died to the first pyramid head fight because i was just getting bored at that point and was like "yeah ok, another time"
The guy who made that silent hill sign in comic sans was definitely taking the piss.
Silent Hill 2 HD is basically just that basement theme from the dual shock version of resident evil 1 directors cut, but in video game form

Although the 100% achievement runs aren't the most amazing challenge, they make for really fun streams: gettin' to hear Ecd yap for 12 hours about the gamestop employee while grinding out a game. By the way, a bit of a throwback to an old stream, but did you play Forbidden Siren 2 yet? I think your speed-runner heart would appreciate the ruthless hard-mode time trials (and, well, the cool horror experience...)

Unfun fact: doing this on the xbox 360 version permanently locks you out of ever replaying the game in full, as a coding error will make the game freeze when attempting to get an achievement you've already got, once all have been obtained once.
Not that I think you'd want to go through this experience again!

One of my homies played this version it was his first silent hill experience and his first ps3 gave he ever got a platinum in. I feel so bad for him man he deserved better 🙏.

The first try I had on a different account I had the run choke on 10 star because the bug room bodied me

Hmm, it's tempting. If I could pay to demand you playing some random ass game I want...I almost feel like I kind of would. There are a bunch of niche horror and horror-adjacent games I like (i.e. "Yomawari" as one example you'd know) that have mostly just been forgotten. Though at that point, the chances of you actually enjoying them would be nil since you're being forced into it, and that honestly would hurt me more than the price tag.
For large rewards such as this I tend to make them things that are ambitious/difficult but would likely be something I think would be momentous to stream

Why is this considered the worst version?
They lost the original source code of SH2 and they had to remake it from the beta. There are a TON of issues as a result in gameplay, aesthetic, fog, really everything
@@Ecdycis Is it the same for Silent Hill 3 in the same collection?
Not sure if it applies to the ps3 version as well but the game is really prone to crashing making the 10 star run even more tedious
