Fabulous! Looking forward to moving back to Raleigh in three years after I retire from New York City! It’s amazing what North Hills has become over the years!
I'm glad you think so. Since we moved our office to North Hills, two years ago, we've been able to see firsthand how it's grown and they've really done a great job with being very intentional about having all of the aspects that add to a great community. It really is a pretty special place. Will look forward to seeing you when you get back from NYC.
Nice video, Gretchen. A few thoughts. The development of Raleigh is sorely needed, but the increase in traffic will be a serious problem, along with parking issues. These two factors already pose difficulties, especially at lunch time. A bus station will only create more problems. Residents of adjoining neighborhoods are not happy about this proposed bus depot in NH. People will still drive in, and not take the bus. Some serious thinking needs to be done before we get too excited about this growth. Also, the restaurants in this complex are not all good. A few of them need to rethink their food quality and service. Raleigh tends to hype but not deliver on the promises. Our state motto is, “To Be, rather than, To Seem.” Raleigh needs more “Be, and less, “Seem”. We enjoy North Hills, but hope that thoughtful planning more than just making money, and quality over shallow promises of an experience, will be the result of this growth.
I certainly understand your thoughts around the development of North Hills, in addition to increase traffic and the discussion of the bus stop. I agree that traffic is definitely higher than it has been in the past. I know that there are plans within Raleigh to open up the road systems to ensure traffic can be disbursed as needed. Mass transit is a part of this equation that Raleigh has definitely lacked. I would love to see this improved since an improvement in our mass transit system would definitely help get some cars off the streets.
