I have made hundreds of these and I have found the easiest way is to put the parchment paper on your cookie sheet and lay the fabric on top. Melt beeswax, pine rosin and jojoba oil and paint it on your fabric. Place it in the oven on speedbake at 170 degrees for just a few minutes. I have a paintbrush I keep on the cookie tray in the oven (to keep the bristles flexible) and use it to even out the wax. Put it back in the oven for a minute and they are perfect. If there is too much wax I just throw another piece of fabric on top to absorb it and make another one.
Thank you..I have watched a couple videos prior before I found yours.. most all said to wash fabric before ,then used jojoba oil, pine resin and the beeswax.. take a piece of parchment paper, put the fabric on top, sprinkle x amount of the beeswax, pine resin, then dot the oil..put another piece of parchment paper over top and rub with a warm iron..I always like to watch several videos first so not to make so many mistakes wasting the products or messing up on making a salve, body products etc..I ordered the ingredients should be here next week and will be making my own..
This is a fun crafting project for a Saturday afternoon. I'd start out with unbleached, heavier muslin made from organic cotton just to stay on the safe side, since this will likely have direct contact with food at some point. Fabric dyes aren't commonly from nontoxic sources and will leach out and into foods. This happens with microwavable plastic frozen food trays when heated.
This is awesome! It’s so useful that you shared your process to get to the final right way to do it so we can see what works and what doesn’t. Thanks so much!
This is good alternative for people who like to wrap their food with aluminium foil or plastic wrap. I still prefer using a clear container with lid. Good tutorial. Thank you.
I have a selection of brand name plastic and glass containers, most with lids, that work well and last years with proper care. Stretchable silicone is my next purchase for small to medium glass mixing bowls. I recently bought some of these waxed cloths at Dollar Tree to try out, so if they don't work out I only lost a very small amount of money.
Followed your instructions and my wraps came out perfect!! The only difference is that i used a silicone brush and the wax was so much easier to apply to the fabric than using a regular brush and on top of that, the wax did not get attached to the silicone brush and cleaning was super easy.

thanks for the great video. I would use a medium paint roller, you can do it better with that; apply evenly. Aluminum foil only as a base. Carefully peel off and hang to dry.

I think pine rosin has anti fungal properties. It helps trees themselves not rot too much while they are alive. Also it just smells more fresh instead of pure beeswax smell.
The pine rosin makes it a little more sticky but you can make them using just bees wax. For me, they were worth making, it's cheaper than buying them and you can make custom sizes and have custom prints. I also thought they were fun to make! But it really depends on if you think you will use them or not 🙂
Thanks for your tutorial! I'd like to make some but wondered if the wraps leave a waxy residue on the bowl or dish. Also, have you ever used the wraps on produce, like lettuce or cabbage, to store in your refrigerator? Thanks for experimenting to find a perfect way of making the wraps!
Thank you! I haven't noticed any residue from these! The only produce I've tried was half an onion and it worked great (and the onion smell came out of the wrap with a quick wash)🙂
Saw a vid used it to wrap breads, fruits and veggies. I think we can use it to wrap anything as long as its not something hot. 😊 Planning to make some of this too. 🥰
Hi I am so happy I just found your channel. I have been trying to make the wraps but they're not sticking, I have my beeswax I have my resin I have my jojoba oil and I'm just stuck. Thank you for the excellent idea of putting aluminum foil on my iron. I will be implementing that to try and fix my wax. Any suggestions I would gladly accept.
If you havnt figured it out yet lol the resin is what makes it sticky so I’d try to add more of that to your mixture. Pinterest had a recipe that explained all of that but I have only ordered the supplies and not gotten them yet lol
Thanks for the tutorial! Was wondering if I wrap half an onion with beeswax wrap and put it in the fridge, will the smell of the onion seep out to the fridge?
I've wrapped half a red onion for a few days and didn't notice any smell in the fridge, I'm guessing you would probably be able to smell a stronger onion though! 🙂
Wow, I really liked your method! But did you use the iron distribute it evenly? I was going to do the same thing, but I’m thinking I should use a paint roller to spread it out evenly and skip the ironing part but i’m not sure what do you think?
The biggest problem I had was the wax cooling before I could get it spread out, the iron fixed that for me. If you find you have the same problem you could also put it on a baking sheet in the oven to warm it up and use your paint roller while it's still warm, I've even seen people who use a cooking griddle to keep everything warm while rolling it out. All three ways seem to work!
I used a double boiler set up to melt the wax. rosin and added some jojoba oil. The rosin got sticky and lumping and took hours to melt(not exaggerating !). Then I used an iron because the wax mixture hardened quickly. Getting it to the edges was difficult and the rosin separated from the wax as it cooled. Really a mess and it seemed to take a huge amount of wax to get a good coating. I'm going to try heating in a microwave quickly and pour it on using the iron to spread it out. Does that sound like it will work better?
Very interesting. Just a question. Since the wax as to be softened by squeeze it in the hands, don't you transfer the bacteria from the hands on to the foil and then to the food?
Hi, can you please help me? I have cotton upper shoes in pastel pink colour and I was wondering if I should impregnate them with beeswax. Do you know if it will alter their colour a lot?
I’m not sure about shoes but the white bees wax shouldn’t change the color. I would be concerned about the color bleeding if you’re not able to pre-wash the shoes.
I haven't used mine in a while because they need to be redone (the wax does wear off the material after a while) but one of the things that I noticed made a huge difference was cheese. Cheese blocks would last longer when wrapped in wax wraps vs. in a reusable ziploc bag.
I agree that the size options are limited, and I also would like the option of a very large size wrap, but... You found that ADORABLE bee and honey comb design bland?!! 😦🤨

Very interesting. Just a question. Since the wax as to be softened by squeeze it in the hands, don't you transfer the bacteria from the hands on to the foil and then to the food?
I imagine washing your hands thoroughly before hand would be just as safe as it is when we prepare food at home after washing our hands.
We touch aluminum foil too… just touching something spreads thousands of bacteria and potential pathogens. Not much difference here.
The wax paper bled its’ wax onto your iron. Using parchment paper, the wax wouldn’t bleed wax so the foil on the iron is not necessary.
What about pouring it into the cloth and using a putty knife to swirl in?
