This worked in 5 days, the puppy has the concept and is almost ready to try out in the open, another week or so and he will have my trust, 7 months old currently but the pup has the enthusiasm to please...
Awesome vid. My GWP is right around this age. Behavior on recall is almost identical to your sweet girl 😂 just got my e-collar, starting training next week.
Every dog is different. The benefit of this channel is we get to see a variety of dogs under going the same training and the difference in progression. I have to laugh the camera man wife cannot hold her tough sometimes😅 classic. What is funnier is they don't edit it out 😅😂😂😅. Females🤷♀️🤦♀️ we are such know it all, pains in the booty 😅😂🤣😂😅
Picking up a gsp puppy this week. Our lab was (is) a trainer’s dream dog, but I’m nervous the gsp will be a bit more of a handful. Binging all your videos because it’s been 9 years since we’ve had a puppy 😬.
Hey , So my dog fully understands recall , understands ecollar pressure and the potential of a ecollar. Do you have any tips if my dogs istraction is so high that when offleash he engages with a high istraction and blows through the ecollar and ignores recall. Do I bump up the setting/correction on the ecollar?
Love your videos. Question for you I’ve been doing the vibration for my puppy at seven months old and she’s responding super well to it coming to me on the vibration and eating her food. It’s an enjoyable experience for her. Every time I put the collar on she sits down and wants to go train. When do I use the stimulization? I don’t want to use it too much but I know when hunting season comes there’s gonna be times where she might get too far and I need to put it to use or gets on a bird and won’t come back. Thanks.
Not them but i am in same positin if your pup is responding promptly to the vibration and able to return promptly continue with vibration only, I only use a low level stimulate level when my pup is locked in on the wrong thing and follow it up with the audible tone in my case to have him return. But if they respond well don't use what you don't need
I question the validity of anyone claiming shock collars are a terrible tool for bird dogs. Yeah, I got a border collie never used a shock collar on it. She just does what you do. Never leaves more than 30 yards. English setter on the other hand, needs the collar couple times a year. At 30 yards, any dog will listen. At 100 yards, love to see an English setter, with regular breeding from just a neighbor, be in complete control with pheasant in them. Sure some will, others won't. I think shock collar is the greatest thing for dog training since the creation of sliced bread. Don't know anyone in person who doesn't agree.
We got a brittany pup that from day one was independent and training is going well but I can't slack on it or he goes back to being more independent then wanting to do his job... I'll get there before the season starts.
I need to get back reinforce where my 8month old is to go when recalled. Don't assume, as I did, that because your dog recalls to you 99 percent of the time, she is trained. Just yesterday I was mowing grass and my wife let the dog out. she used the vibrate or tone on the collar to recall the dog and instead of recalling to her, the dog just ran faster to me. Thankfully I was across a yard and not across a busy street. S
with teaching the dog to go to another person. Are you training them to go to anyone to get the vibrate off? What if my dog goes to a person in another field or stranger on the road? Hoping they never run off like that. But, does the dog see a person and think I need to run to any person to get this to turn off?
I was training my 16 week GSP tonight with the Ecollar and he ran to someone else. I’ve been the only person working him thus far. How do I make him only come back to me? I suppose repetition?
Repition, my dog won't come to anyone but me. Shoot a bird and im off doing something else, he won't give it to anyone but me. Just an age thing, really came in after our first few hunts
I notice that when you praise or give reward it seems a little light, pet them tell them they are good. I'm not a pro and don't claim to be but i give them lovin's i make a big deal about what they did right, i get excited with them give them a kiss on their mussel or a hug. Is what i do wrong for the training session? Love your channel and enjoy all the videos, been re-watching them as i am waiting for my new GSP pup to come later this year.
They talked about it before in other videos. I believe it's to create a more steady calm dog that can stay focused instead of getting over excited and uncontrollable?
Always amazes me why the trainers in USA rely so heavily on shock(vibration) collars for correction on so many different steps in the training process of a gundog. On the neck around the belly etc etc.... it is so unnecessary for training gundogs. For centuries the best dog men/women did not have this tool and were trained to a higher standard. Love watching the videos but maybe its time to get away from all these fades and learn how to really train dogs the best way. I have nothing against these collars when used correctley but maybe its time to set a goal on a new pup to train without it and get back to the roots of training gundogs. Its so satifying to get a dog to a high level of gundog work or winning on the trialing scene with a dog trained without all the e-collars and gimmicks. A whistle, long lead, dummies, cold game, access to birds and a good understanding of the K-9 Dog Body Language/psychology is all you need......
I fully understand and hear what you are saying. Yes for centuries dogs were trained without ecollar or gimmicks. Also people relied on the telegraphs, horses to plow fields and automobiles traveled at 28 mph. Advancements in technology are part of life and help in all aspects of life including dog training. To say you must have an ecollar is wrong, but to say ecollars can’t aid in training by allowing better timing and more consistent communication with your dog is also wrong. Thank you for watching and your thoughts!
@@StandingStoneKennels LOL, and look at the mess we humans are in......... with our progression and advances in technology. Anyway, just a an observation on watching some of the American trainers but not a criticism.... great channel and great for people needing help and tips!
Love you and your wife’s content! Very very helpful with training my GSP. Can’t wait for the new collars 👍🏽

my question is if the collar vibrate what number would you use. lower number? right?
On DT units vibrate doesn’t change

Are you using vibrate or stimulate while train?
Vibrate!
Great video
Thank you for watching our videos!
The leash was one of primary reasons I like an ecollar. Neither I not my Lab like using a leash.
No I have a English Setter puppy to train.

This is great feedback. We are looking into Brittany's . Thanks for sharing.
I have a beagle/hound mix that has started leaving the yard will a collar help if eight months old or is that too old to start training

You need to rename that pup to “Cyclone” lol great video but I’ll be honest I had to rewind quite a few times because I was laughing at the pup lol

@@caitlindixon1591 makes sense, thanks
When do you know it’s time to stop
Using the e collar? I don’t want to have to leave it on all The time.
Yay new videos
Vibrate like a phone or irritating vibrate?
That dog is freakin gorgeous. I’ve never collar trained a dog and just want to make sure I get it right and not introduce it in a terrifying manor
Thanks for the nice words
Is he saying collar or caller conditioning
My gsp has pretty good recall until she sees a bird or squirrel. Then you can forget about it.
you are training the dog to run between you. It is not anticipation.

ECollars aren't fads. And they are, in the right hands, a superior tool. Do you still ride a horse to work? Or use a mule for agriculture?
This shock collar deal is so new/unfamiliar/foriegn to me, maybe I am, "old school" but I have never used one. I do use a clicker though
Not all do
