This is the most heartbreaking news I have gotten about what could be going on with my dog... I could never afford the MRI and surgery. My dog was just walking a little slow for less than a week and then didn't eat for a couple of days so made a vet appointment and the day of her appointment she couldn't walk because her back legs stopped working. She has been on rest and meds for a few days but the vet we saw didn't say anything about this being a possibility... She's only 5 and was really healthy before this. I'm so devastated and heartbroken. I won't give up on her as long as she's not suffering and has a chance 😢
Day 4 or 5 of IVDD diagnosis and not being able to walk, regained a tiny bit of movement and feeling in a leg and tail but still paralyzed, has control of her bowels and use a strap under her backside for her to "walk" to go potty, she's on a muscle relaxer, gabapentin, and an nsaid anti-inflammatory... What do I do... I need any suggestions for anything that could possibly help her... Just rest for now, are there diet changes supplements anti-inflammatory foods.... Anything at all that could help?
We treated a dog with success diagnosed with this disease , peeing on her own the first day, walking on her own in 14 days. Running and doing stairs in 19 days. There’s hope in the Alternative world of therapy.
so IVDD can lead up to Myelomalacia? my dog just has been recently diagnosed with IVDD and we cannot afford to do the surgery but I have seen videos of dogs with IVDD doing a medication plan with strict crate rest up to 4 to 6 weeks. would this be the best decision for my dog to (hopefully) recover?
@@MISSISSIPPI_Gurl how is he now? my mini dachshund is 5yo and has grease 5 ivdd,, hes on medication bc we couldn't afford the $8k surgery- it's not even been a week and from the research i've done, it seems he has myelomalacia now- idk what to do..
My dog is 15 years old and he diagnosed chronic kidney failure 1 month ago. Also he is walking or try to walk just like that. I am giving him vitamin B complex subcutaneous injection of course lots off other medicines and herbal supplements. Vitamin B1, B6 etc they are good for nerves as far as I know. Could you give me any advise about chronic kidney failure or this walk illness?
Sort of. Both are progressive. But DM comes on slowly and progresses over months to become unable to walk and years before dying. Myelomalacia comes on suddenly and results in death within a week. Both are terrible but they are quite different.
Lost my beloved dog to myelomalacia two days ago. The pace at which her state deteriorated was devasting.

I was able to afford both the MRI and the surgery, lost my dog anyway, so don’t feel guilty
Basically you just need 4 or 6 thousand dollars to get a MRI then another 10 to 20 for surgery.
MRIs are around $3000-$3500. Surgery ..price ranges vary depending on what it is.
Not sure where you live, but we just had surgery and it was expensive, but not near what you describe.
Best get pet insurance at a young age
What a scam medicine is…whether it’s humans or pets…it’s all a scam.
Makes me so made it costs so much my heart is breaking

Likely not myelomalacia. You may have that with IVDD, but not myelomalacia. Either way, happy for the pet.
