    My little Shih Tzu had surgery yesterday, and I’m amazed at how well he is doing! Veterinary technology is just incredible! The Vets and techs have been so lovely! The surgeon who did Ranger’s surgery is Dr. Wells! Everybody at DVSC (Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center) in Grapevine Texas are top notch! They have also fallen in love with my dog! They keep saying what a sweet, lovable boy he is! I have to agree! I can literally see God working through them, which I told them! They then offered to pray over him daily, and for that I’m so thankful! I can’t wait until he comes home on Friday!

      They helped get my shih Tzu weekend surgery. They are true Angels. My boy had severe stage 5 paralysis and I thought he'd never walk again but he's running again after a year. (took about 6 months to fully walk)

      @@Ken-hr4sg my Lhasa apso girl also had ivdd surgery about 12 days ago I think she is a 4 to 5 stage of paralysis. But she had post surgery complications and it’s anemia so she had to stay resting and we still haven’t started the physical exercises yet. And because it took 10 days os paralysis I think that she lost some musculature so it must take long time on her recover, and if she is going to fully recover one day. I don’t know we get so anxious and nervous and afraid all the time. It’s being very difficult to care of a special dog, and with de diapers. But maybe she will get well soon. We hope. But we get very nervous cause she had surgery in almost 2 weeks and we didn’t see any improvement

    This is a great demonstration thank you. I live in China and due to lockdown my dog had to be returned from the vet 7 days after his surgery. When should I start a routine like this? I worry about overworking him too soon and causing him more pain and discomfort.

    Why dont you do the bicycle move in the physiological direction? Forward?

    Thank you so much for the video. How long after the surgery should the therapy start, and how often should we do it?

    • @SEVNeurology
      @SEVNeurology  2 роки тому

      It depends on the dog and the surgery. Your neurologist/surgeon should be able to let you know for your particular pet.

    The video is very helpful. When the pet is at hospital, post surgery in IPD, should the dog be put through NMES or any physio sessions? Or one should wait for 3-4 weeks

      It depends on the dog and the injury. Many of our patients receive gentle PT immediately post op (laser, PROM, ice, TENS, etc).

    Hi. My dog just had a c6-c7 neck surgery (2 days ago). Should it be carried out for urine etc for the following 2-3 weeks or is it safe enough for it to walk by itself with a bit assistance?
    Tnx❤

    Do you know where I can find that type of harness? I found similar but I think that type would work better.

    • @SEVNeurology
      @SEVNeurology  2 місяці тому

      Hello. Unfortunately, the harness used in the video was hand made at our clinic. However, we do recommend looking into Help ‘Em Up Harnesses (helpemup.com) which features a similar hip harness system as the one in this video. Hope this is helpful!

    My dog is post operative ivdd for 3 weeks. He can walk by himself out if his crate and to the back yard for potty. Is it ok for him to sit with us on the floor? He loves to cuddle and be with his humans.

      @SEVNeurology  3 роки тому

      We actually DIY all the slings we use at the hospital, but you can purchase some great ones online that will work just as well. www.amazon.com/GingerLead-Dog-Support-Rehabilitation-Harness/dp/B00GPYF9HE/ref=pd_sbs_4/134-5008751-9237425?pd_rd_w=ch4L3&pf_rd_p=a35b3889-328a-403a-834b-e40052269fcd&pf_rd_r=N9ANY8YSKZ53VYPN4XXC&pd_rd_r=827b1702-a29c-448b-8dcc-76bad9d55677&pd_rd_wg=0EhU6&pd_rd_i=B00GPYF8A2&th=1

      I'll be so glad if I get my dog back alive and on the mend that this will be the least of my worries. I won't be doing any kind of "training" until she's fully well and the vet tells me she for sure isn't incontinent. I expect it will take months and I will clean her up every day for life if it is necessary. I just want her well. 😭
