All such sweet, beautiful dogs. I'm hoping that Shayni and Bailey are doing well. I was really happy to see in a more recent video that Ellie is doing great. Thank you so much for helping these precious pups!

Hello, my 9yo Black Lab Mix had very similar symptoms as the Lab in the video a few months ago. Only now, it has gotten much worse. He is struggling to walk as both his left legs are weakening. I'm worried it will get to the point where he can no longer walk soon. Is there anything I can do? Do you know of any devices that could help him walk without the use of his left legs? I don't know what to do, I can't stand watching him suffer. I just don't want to lose him.

Can I ask what it might mean if both sides of the head are losing muscle mass, could it be cancer on both sides of the nerve?

Y'all really need to do follow ups so we can know what happened to these patients.

Hi! My 6 month old chihuahua/yorkie/beagle mix has been diagnosed with meningitis via MRI and spinal tap.
However, he doesn’t exhibit the typical symptoms. His symptoms include several events of head bobbing (he seems intoxicated) confusion, ataxia and dilated pupils. Outside of these events, he is normal. He was prescribed prednisone and had zero symptoms for 2 weeks. Symptoms have returned as of 4 days ago but not as severe.
I’m looking for a second opinion and willing to travel or submit imaging & other diagnostic results for consult via telephone. He’s just a tiny baby. 5 lbs. He was the runt of the litter, had demodex, crystals in his urine and elevated liver enzymes pre diagnosis.

I have a 9 year old mini schnauzer who in the past year started experiencing limping on her back left leg which gradually worsened to the point where she is limping now and can’t put her weight on that leg at all, she has muscular atrophy from it and nothing I’ve tried seems to help. She has been seen by vets and at first she was diagnosed with arthritis but a second opinion and another round of x-rays revealed there are no signs of arthritis to be cause the muscular atrophy she’s experiencing. I was told that I possible previous injury or infection could have caused nerve damage which caused the muscular atrophy, however I’ve done so much research and can’t seem to find any similar cases as hers. I’m out of ideas and need help with trying to figure out what this is and how to help my dog. Any suggestions would be really appreciated, thank you.

my 9 year old beagle pointer mix is having a lot of trouble with coordination and balance. vet said she also lost vision in her right eye, and her face is droopy on one side. vet thinks it could be a stroke, ear infection, old dog vestibular syndrome, etc. she hasn’t improved much and it’s been about three weeks since she started exhibiting symptoms. she feels a lot better when she takes prednisone but we’ve had to taper her off of it and her symptoms came back. her mentation and reflexes are just fine, its just her balance, coordination, and vision that are affecting her. we’re taking her back to the vet but in the meantime, any idea what this could be?

Great cases. Can you culture your disco cases? Or just go with empirical (amoxi, enro, metro, clinda)?

Why do people insist on asking questions about their dogs' conditions on here? It's clear that nobody ever answers them. I hope you're not all waiting around for anyone to bother.

It’s not a function of “bothering”. It’s a function of not being able to legally, ethically or correctly give an answer in a pet that we’ve never examined.
We try to be helpful with providing general knowledge. When it turns to a specific question about a specific pet that is in another state or across the world, we can’t reliably answer them.
It’s in your pet’s best interest to be examined by a veterinarian or veterinary neurologist in person.
So yes, we answer what we can. But instead of writing “see your vet, we can’t legally answer specific questions, etc” every time someone asks on UA-cam, sometimes those questions go unanswered.
      We appreciate your question.

Awesome content. How many surgeries do you perform per day or per week? Are they becoming more common? Also do you guys perform spinal fractures or that more of an ortho thing? Thanks!

Hi. Thank you. We perform a fair amount of neurosurgery. It depends on the day, as most of our surgeries are urgent or emergencies. We don’t do a lot of elective/scheduled surgeries. Some days there are zero surgeries, some days up to seven. Most of our surgeries are for slipped disks. Occasionally we will see a back or neck fracture, a brain tumor or an instability.

Hello! It’s unfortunate that I live so far from you guys! My dog recently was paralyzed and we went to the emergency vet and had me pay 4000+ for a possible surgery if the MRI showed he needed it but they found nothing at all that could’ve caused it!
