They do same with drug money in Canada. Apparently they say our rcmp has more technology then we can imagine. I’ve heard some stuff that’s prototype that’s not even out for people yet
Most people don't know that a lot of the money taken in assets forfeitures is taken from innocent people just traveling with a larger then normal amount of cash.... Say your going to another state to purchase a car from a private person and your taking cash if you get pulled over and can't not prove where that money came from they will take it
With asset forfeiture that’s not always drug money! You could have a large amount of money and they would confiscate it saying that it “may” be drug money! There are many cases when the police confiscated money that had nothing to do with drugs!
There are a lot of documented cases where they confiscate money and never are able to provide any evidence of criminal activity but in order to get the money back you literally have to sue the department and by the time the legal battle is over you've spent more than what was taken on legal fees... it's disgusting watching them brag about it and have a day on the lake with the new ill gotten gains
100% if you get stopped for speeding and they search the car and find 20k they may take it from you if you can't show where it came from so don't ride around with money
SafeBoats, the company that built this boat, are by FAR the industry leader for public safety boats. The U.S. Coast Guard used these boats for many years. The Coast Guard is now using Metal Shark boats. If you talk to any Coast Guard personnel they will tell you they miss the SafeBoat. We recently purchased a used 25' Coast Guard SafeBoat, restored it for Public Safety use and are inservice doing patrols on the water every weekend. These boats new cost $400,000 and higher. If your interested, you can see our restoration by searching UA-cam for Nassau Bay Marine Upgrade. All the work was completed by our volunteers. Bottom line.. SafeBoats are AWESOME!!
civil asset forfeiture, oh yes that warrantless seizing of peoples cash. Not always drug money and lots of times no one gets charged with a crime yet loses their cash.
Dude. Either way there out there saving life’s. I would bet you that if your family member was in trouble on the lake and because they had that boat they were able to save he or her you would be happy they bought that boat
Even if it was purchased with our tax money I personally would be ok just by the sentence the officer said about think about what if it was ur family member needing help
Forfeit asseture, is a great idea but unfortunately you should really look at how this law is abused by certain law enforcement agencies. Look it up. I was traveling to Florida to buy a used drag bike. I was pulled over because some officer wanted to rob me. I had a beautiful F350 dually and Atc trailer. And 10 grand cash on me. Thankfully I had the ad, the ebay transfer receipt for the down payment. They had no reason for pulling me over. They asked to look in my truck and trailer. I had nothing hide, I'm not a criminal. But when they saw I had cash on me they took it from me. Then asked me if it was from or for drugs. I spent 4 hours explaining that it was for a vehicle I was buying. I showed them all the paper work. They kept telling me that the paperwork I had was fake. They continued to tell me that they would have to keep the money under the forfeit asseture law because they didn't believe me and I would have to come back to court to get it back. Thankfully I was able to get through to the bank. And the bank manager helped me to get my money back. They made me feel completely helpless for those 4 hours. The worst part was when the other officers showed up for backup, I overheard them saying: " hey are we getting a new truck today." After that incident I lost a lot of respect for law enforcement. I looked up this law and found out that the number of times people were robbed by officers is far more frequent than you may think. That law needs to be altered for innocent people. And those officers that abuse that law should go to jail. I have nothing against decent and honest cops. They have a tough job, and using drug money to pay for the tools to fight crime is a great idea, but when innocent people get robbed of their belongings....well that just is not cool. Yeah, I still get PTSD like symptoms when I see cops on the highway. I'm still upset at the way that those guys treated me. If you're wondering if I'm white, no I am not. Awesome boat by the way.
Great video guys. Didn't realize y'all were so close to me. I'm in Troutman and I travel that route often! Love seeing this new Sherriff boat close-up. Thanks for doing it.

Did you think a boat could have electronics like this??
yes brad. lots of drug dealers out there, lots of boat money.

The technology was great and surprising how open they were to share that vessel with you guys.

Love your stuff i don't support theft and they stole that money to buy that boat.
I was the 13th rescue in lake Maurepas in south Louisiana, and I was their first recovery able to say Thank You. That is a Hard job
To clarify I was the 13th recovery that year. And it was spring.

North Carolina. Mooresville. Lake Norman.

Man that’s awesome the sheriff went above and beyond. Great job SIR
That's what they should do with the drug money. Buy more drug sniffing dogs, in Arkansas last week 1632 lbs of drugs by a dog named Thor.
That’s what all the drug money or any other thing they. Confiscate and can sell at auction should all go back to the community to purchase boats like that cop cars, motorcycles whatever the police department needs should be funded by the drug people
Drug money that’s recouped within counties should go back to the county since taxpayers pay the Sheriff salary
If filmed with a GoPro, you should be able to turn on the G Force meter and see what the forces were. Should have been saved with it I think.
It's nice to know that money goes to a good cause. 👍
