  • YOU CAN’T FIX WHAT YOU CAN’T SEE
The key to paint correction is having the right equipment and knowing the right angle to see the imperfections. No matter how good your polishing system is, you need to be able to inspect the surface before correction to determine the best plan of action, during the process to monitor progress, and after to ensure the desired results were achieved. The RUPES LL150 Swirl Finder Penlight is optimized specifically for paint inspection on the widest variety of paint types.

Does it matter how strong the light is

Does my inspection light need to be a certain number of lumens and/or kelvins to be effective?

When using the Rupes Penlight, should you only use it indoors without sunshine? Can you use it effectively in the direct sun at a customer's house? If outdoors, should you keep the sun behind you or if it's in front of you should you block the sun with a piece of cardboard or something? Thank you.

You mentioned your lighting in your facility. My self and several express tunnel car wash owners have discussed trying to get proper videos of cars before and after the car wash for liability purposes. Some of these express washes will wash upwards of 1,000 cars in a day. If the average value of a car is $35k each, then that is a $35m per day exposure or $12.7B exposure in a year. With that in mind, money seems to be of little concern when trying to design a way to catch any scratches or flaws before a car enters the wash. I’ve see various systems in Luther industries for detecting paint and body flaws, such as UV lights, laser grid systems and others, yet our industry seems to not know much about them. Can you comment to any methods or systems that could help our cameras detect paint and body flaws. There are several locations that could be used to view the cars either stopped or in a controlled speed of motion. We could even add a section of the tunnel that could be totally blacked out or whatever maybe needed to control the lighting environment to allow for proper application of this type viewing. Any and all info would be greatly appreciated, or even pointing me towards other industries that may be able to achieve this.

Great video once again. I wanted your opinion on weather there is a difference between a normal led flash light and a paint correction light to find paint defects. Thank you

I recently acquired my father's 67 corvette. It's a driver, not a show car, and I'd like to clean it up. Question: Any advice, tips, or concerns working on single stage paint over fiberglass?
