- Johnny Depp unveils 'Five', a deeply personal self-portrait.
The artwork originated from a still taken during a shoot for Dior's 'Sauvage', directed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino, and was chosen as a tribute to Dior's unwavering support through a difficult period.
This deeply intimate art project holds profound meaning for Johnny, who believes it acts as a reflective mirror, urging contemplation of our mental health and that of those around us.
Each artwork sold contributes $200 directly to Mental Health America, a US-based nonprofit breaking down the barrier to treatment and services for those suffering from mental health conditions.

Dior's loyalty is one of the reasons we know there is yet some hope for humanity in this period of history.
They just think it won't be more profitable to cancel the contract. It has nothing to do with altruism. The reasons to have hope for humanity are probably far away from the world of movie stars and big companies.

Maybe they were smarter at Dior, and didn't do the same mistake.
If I search on LVMH's website (the brand who owns Dior), where they mention their financial report for 2022, I find this:
"Highlights of 2022 include: [...] Strong growth in perfumes. The continued global success of Dior’s Sauvage, once again world leader in 2022"
If they were making less money because of Johnny Depp, but decided to continue working with him anyway, then I'd be impressed.
But it seems that they are not losing money. When presenting this financial report to the press, Bernard Arnault (LVMH CEO) said that Dior Sauvage was “a leader in perfume sales” over the course of the year, “achieving remarkable success” that was “driven by the image of Johnny Depp.”
It doesn't sound like "I don't care if we go bankrupt, I will always stand behind Jonnhy Depp".
Yeah, but we all know Disney loves making mistakes nowadays 🤷🏻♀️ That Dior hasn’t cancelled still evokes hope of sanity for the future.

Johnny was mainly used. His image being used in multiple purposes: who doesn’t want to be Johnny? Either portrayed used as a “ bad wild man” or “ a misunderstood vulnerable rebel without a cause” .
Anyway you put it : The group was making money on broken man. Such people have no empathy.
Johnny Depp & Jim Carrey are true artists and have deep connections with their crafts i.e. acting, painting, etc. ! They are a couple of Hollywood actors/celebrities that I still have genuine respect for as MEN & Artists !
I feel like I'm always learning a little more about Johnny. I am also an advocate for mental health awareness. Every one of us has been through SOMETHING we thought would completely break us. Sadly, there are those who don't pull out of it.
Through healing & deliverance they will pull out of it!! :)

Indeed, I went through auto immune disease turning bad. IC for surgery went awfully wrong. Blood transfusion.. well as Steven Tyler sings “ you have to learn to crawl..”
I had to learn everything.
Actually I couldn’t have done it with 2 great specialists surgeons by my side. By now I see :” yep glass half full, let’s get a smaller glas” :))

Well said... well said! Oddly I also find relaxation in painting. Though I do sooo much more. Adore painting. A friend once said as we painted together "The is my Zen time". Small glass of wine and we painted the day away. Started painting Fantasy figures, as of late I'm doing Abstract Canvas paintings.
I'd bet he took his time with it, and with thought from many perspectives.

The eyes are the mirror to our soul. They tell so much and at times the story doesn't end . Makes you want to see more know more. Johnny this is beautiful.

I appreciate the explanation about the self portrait because I have seen it ( or maybe some unfinished version ) online and wondered why Johnny painted a "dark" self portrait. The portrait does reflect pain. I am so sorry Johnny had to endure the cruelty...so glad he survived it. I have also seen the beautiful Dior ads. Thanks so much for the video.
We don't really look at ourselves to truly see what is happening to us. Ex: avoiding mirrors and reflections.
We think we are 'acting normal' because we are trying to hide the truth. It's not necessarily what every one else is seeing.
Our eyes and facial features don't lie. The show the wear and stress.
A self portrait is recognizing the hard truth about what is happening to us. We can never really change if we don't see the truth of the matter and its effects.
With too many details, I hope this makes sense.

I love the fact that money is being donated from Johnnys work to mental health. I paint to help my mental health and Im looking to donate some of my work to help the local centre for mental health that has saved my life several times.

Captured the pain of that experience for sure. Art is the unforced expression of lives that do not ask us for permission. And yet we overcome. As Johnny has done so adroitly so openly so that others who are suffering can see hope and a way out of pain back to their purposes in life.

I had a look at this painting in Windsor a couple of days ago. Johnny has such incredible artistic talent. Was great to see.
This is just beautiful. Fully explains JD's perspective on his portrait. My only wish was that he had never experienced such horror from someone he loved again after his childhood. For JD to rise from all that abuse and be able to bring love and laughter to sick children and their parents is a miracle in and of itself. Beautiful Art, JD. ❤️🤗😍🤩

@tobes911 hi, I did ask him how he was & he replied I'm really really good, I'm in a really great place now thanks for asking & caring. He also kept hugging me & kept saying thank you thank you for all your love & support throughout everything, that's what got me through it all, everyone's love & support & I can't thank you enough, I'm really grateful. Personally I think he's gonna struggle to get over it but he will eventually, no matter how much he tries & how many good, supportive friends/ family you have around you (& he has that with the Vampires, you could see the joy & friendship when they were on stage, they were absolutely amazing). How do you ever get over everything someone you loved,but never loved you, doing all those horrible things to you & also being taken in by a cold, calculated, conniving, lying person? I bet his trust in people has gone out the window now. I know mine would have but he has a good heart & seems to see the best in everyone as he has proven time & time again. He came over as such a shy, softly spoken man (beautiful voice & eyes), very grateful & gracious with a big loving heart. He's not perfect, as he said in the trial, but I think he's near enough as can be & after all the kind & generous things he has done for people, especially seriously ill children, over the years he sure as hell deserves a full & happy life.

(These very basic portrait 'paintings' are created by high school students, in art classes, by the thousands.)

Remember the friendly guy who lived as an artist in Johnny’s house from the trial. He did portraits as well (very different). I wonder if they learned anything from each other? If so, what? Maybe what they didn’t like ? Maybe what’s possible? Although I happen to thorough Johnny’s perspective myself . Many would love the famous portrayals of all the ones the other guy did (I’m sorry, I can’t recall his name just now). He’s the one who looked directly at Amber in the very beginning and said to her, “You know, it didn’t have to go like this. It really didn’t .” 😊
You don't get ethereal from a photo as much as painting it in. Then, it's pure creativity.

Drags out the depth of emotion as he paints, and it shows some of his extremes.
what a gift to be able to look inside yourself and be able to paint your pain. The eyes tell you so much of what he went through and what scars his soul. This is part of a healing process. Johnny Depp is incredible talented in many ways. He's made millions with his creative talents, this is an example of how no matter your level of success or the depth of your fall pain finds us all. The point is to recognize that you're only human and as such we must embrace the pain as much as we do our joy. He's not afraid to share himself both with others who have suffered similar situations. The self portrait is a reflection of how he sees himself, ho a beautiful face hides a myriad of emotions.

Haunted, heavy, hurting. Johnny didn't have to say anything. The eyes say it all. I hope this helps him during the healing process. I couldn't do anything creative during my darkest years, which odd since art was always a way to express myself when no other way would do. I wouldn't be surprised if this was his best outlet, too. It is often so with creative people. Johnny seems to smile a lot more these days.😊 He deserves all those hugs he gets from people.

It's not easy to do a self portrait in my opinion. People tend to move pass their emotion and hide it, move on. So to "spit out" all that through a painting or drawing and at the same time trying to convey a message through their mediums for the rest of the world to see is really a hard thing to do. So much respect for people that can do that
