The one thing that I really appreciated about Ugly God was his level of self-awareness. When you're "doing numbers" and fans are meat-riding every thing you do, it can become EXTREMELY easy to start huffing your own farts, and losing touch with reality. It's like they didn't understand that their music wasn't good... it was just the sound (for the kids) and what was popular. Popular doesn't equal quality. And Ugly God is one of the few SoundCloud rappers that really understood that. That's why he wanted to TRY to do take music seriously at a certain point... but I think it was a case of getting a job you're not really qualified for, and succumbing to the stress of trying to do something you don't really know how to do all that well. And that's not a knock on him... He has said the same about his (and his contemporaries) music. But the mere fact that he had the level of self-awareness that he did regarding his music means he was one of the few who could have possibly gotten better... I think he was probably selling bricks to make some cash after the water money came out, dipped into his own stash, became an addict and then the shooting was a result of being aggresive from the coke.
