    As a V2, surprisingly feel like it somehow got worse with less options. Appreciate you sharing and doing an overview. Like you said, seems like a side iteration more than anything else for watercool specific build. Still no Matx option as well

    I built in the NR200P original. Air cooled Zen 7 7700X & 6800XT. Intake at the bottom and rear, exhaust out the top. It's cool and quiet under almost all work loads. The only thing I would have wished for is a front USB C. This 'new' version is a disappointment in comparison to the original design. It's hardly an upgrade, as you have adequately demonstrated. I half expected the new version to provide miniATX supported mobos, which it is so close to as is, but to go down the route of only water cooled for an 'upgrade' without even a nod towards better cable management is a strange choice. Nice review. Clear and thoughtful as usual. Thank you.

      At least here in the UK, the non-max NR200 (& P) is extremely scarce (I'm importing one). I'm air cooling it so the V2 wouldn't work even if they do decide to sell a non-max version here

    • @sspringss2727
      @sspringss2727 3 місяці тому

      @morallygreyarea9241 you can air cool I'm the v2...idk where you guys are getting that info from. The best aircoolers for itx case like the terra, t1 can work in this case. You have 67mm of clearance for cpu cooling.

    • @kharak6204
      @kharak6204 3 місяці тому +5

      @sspringss2727 67mm aircooling space, with a gpu in front of it, in a case this big, so why would you ever buy it for air cooling at that point? that's really not a realistic option. The issue is the original nr200 actually supported a bunch of different builds, with a decent price by itx standards, this new one pretty much fails to meet the same budget category when it only supports liquid cooling and needs a riser cable. This looks like just the max case, except without the whole discounted bundle of included parts, which was the only reason i can see to buy the max in the first place. it's kinda just a niche within a niche within a niche

    Bought my NR200P (non-max) a few years back because of your original reviews. It's been a great case. Biggest downside originally was the default coolermaster fans. They used to resonate the whole case. But some Noctuas later and it's nice and quiet.

    Good video and glad to hear more will follow. I'd like to ask for more visualization though. Like when you talked about airflow configs a rough schematic with green and red arrows would have been really helpful. Just show the schematic for as long as you talk about that specific airflow config so its easier to follow. Also a pro&con list at the end might help with reviews in general. To make it more visually appealing do the cons red and pros green, and make it as overlay, semi see-through, so that we can still see you talking in the background

      A flow through cooler GPU makes more sense to build in the NR200P V1, but as seen in the temp charts in this review, using a traditional axial fan GPU, the V2 is within margin of error to the V1.

      tl:dr: People observe the market, want to see things improve in the SFF space in hopes that the newer options are attractive, worth the price, and potentially affordable for entry level budget builds(say 450-700USD or less)
      You might hate the complaints or constructive criticisms, but let them cook, these things may wake up companies into seeing what they need to improve or fix.
      Non-tl;dr:
      to be fair, if there's a issue that a person sees with a case, be it customer, potential customer, or just a observer, doesn't hurt to call out your grievances. Time and place for everything sure, but I'm sure that most folks want to see the SFF Market improve and improve, so more attractive options can be available. mind you, Since CM blew it out the water with the V1 NR200p and NR200, I believe most people had some expectations of the V2 being greater as a successor.
      And looking at the v1 NR200p, the V1 did have more variety, be it: normal gpu mounting(Though the slot size may be debatable for the DUMMY THICC 40 series cards), better clearance for cooling(say: large air coolers if AiO aren't a builder's thing), and switching to side facing from normal GPU mounting (for the V1 NR200P).
      To add on, and I preface this by saying that CM changed their mind on the V1 NR200p Discontinuation, CM at a time had wanted to replace the V1 with this.The V1s were cheaper, had more variety in building, and based on the Cooler size that you had , or wanted to get, you'd have to go for a AiO ,or a low-profile cooler(which may get choked by the GPU preventing airflow from the side).
      Now if they want to make this case feel like an actual upgrade, (since criticisms should have some ideas here and there, though this will never happen), they could take the gpu back bracket to 11:
      -have it be a full back bracket that can switch between a sandwich layout(Motherboard and PSU mount plate attachable in the middle with the gpu mounting behind it, think of the DanA4 ), or a normal layout with the gpu in front(a.k.a the layout you're seeing here).
      -Third full bracket option, the normal bracket for a simple layout that won't require a riser cable(Similar to the original NR200 ) which could allow builds with a larger cooler.
      Let them cook. complaints(when they all talk about a singular problem that they see, leading to the main root issue that needs fixing), and constructive criticisms can build a better product, or at least light a fire when needed.

    • @sspringss2727

      @Unhuman-0111A how is it to be received as criticism when they are both being sold. If/when they only sell one then you can make that argument but right now that's much to do about nothing. I have both versions and both use an aio... one has hpu mounted vertically and the other horizontally. Before I redid my v1(now my wife's) the gpu was vertically mounted with my aio at the bottom(yes yes ik about the caveats).

    I have a nr200p max. If you install 6/32 motherboard stand offs on top of the GPU bracket and secure the GPU on top of those standoffs it will raise it enough to fit 2 120mm fans. FINALLY Cooler Master has created the perfect SFF case and they even include a pcie 4.0 riser..
    I´m happy that you finally can use a 240/280 AiO while using regular fans. Not like the top rad mod where you had to use slim fans which has more noice/less performance compared to regular 120 fans. But for higher tier gpu´s you definitely wanna go regular vented panel for airflow. Still a beautiful case.
    Before I had to use a noctua cpu cooler which I still beg for to come one day in white for my white build. But now I can run a white AiO at least to improve the looks.

  • @petermilian4455
    @petermilian4455 3 місяці тому

    Like you said the main appeal of this NR200 "Liquid" case is the support for beefier higher wattage GPUs with larger dimensions. What would the optimal fan configuration be for those using a card like this who wanted to configure this case to prioritize GPU temps? In your ""Max the MAX - An Optimized NR200P MAX!" video the top AIO exhaust, bottom intake setup had significantly better GPU temps (than top exhaust / bottom intake) so I was sad not to say any top exhaust configurations tested in this video. Do you think this would still be the best setup for GPU temps?
    Also, would top exhaust allow for improved memory, chipset and VRM temps in addition to the improved GPU temps?

    • @MachinesMore
      @MachinesMore  3 місяці тому +1

      The recommendation to not to a top exhaust applies to the glass panel only. In the MAX testing TG with top exhaust did not yield optimal results. For the vented panel I did test with top + bottom exhaust, and there the dual exhaust performed the best for GPU temps. As for board temps, when I tested the MAX the board temps did not differ by too much, and even then they were far from where it would even start to matter- across all these scenarios you have a good amount of air flowing across the surface of the board from the rad, and that is good enough!

    • @MachinesMore
      @MachinesMore  19 днів тому

      I think the best setup if you are using the vented side panel is exhausting from both top and bottom. Otherwise if you are using the glass then it will depend on which component you want to prioritize. Typically for a gaming setup that will be the GPU.

Sure its ok for some users but leaves others who want to air cool and not mount their GPU vertically a kick in the rear. I think they all they needed to do is increase some dimensions here and there and give option for vertical/horizontal gpu mount bracket. Would a 280 AIO with 2x 120mm fans mounted with a Noctua NA-SFMA1 adaptor set be the best fit for this build? Get the full 280 AIO performance while using 120 fans (either T30 or A12x25) to give yourself +/- 10mm more motherboard height clearance if things are tight?
    Would a 280 AIO with 140x25 fans fit? You seem to imply that it would not be possible to fit one despite proper 280 AIO support being one of the big selling points of the case?

    • @MachinesMore
      @MachinesMore  3 місяці тому +1

      280 is fine, most “standard” rads fit since they would be 52-55mm thick. The issue with RAM slots only matters if you go 58mm+. I would just go for a regular thickness 280 and if you want to max out performance, at the moment Be Quiet Silent Wings 4 PRO 140 is one of the best 140x25.

      @@MachinesMore From all of the reviews I've seen the EK Nucleus CR240 with it's 27mm thick rad outperforms all 280mm AIOs with similar 27mm rads using 25mm thickness fans. The EK CR240 with T30's would be a monster and should fit based on what you're saying.
      You'd need a 280 AIO setup with a thicker 38mm rad like the Arctic Liquid Freezer III 280 to get better performance and it does not appear there's any hope of fitting one of those in the top of this case. Maybe we'll get an EK CR280 or other competitive 280 AIO with a standard thickness rad soon. And Noctua will finally release the A14x25's.

If I turn it off and press the power button it will go into my desktop but nothing shows on my monitor. I used it outside as a bench test and everything worked fine except one thing which I didn’t test. The riser cable that comes included. Can that be the problem?

    • @MachinesMore
      @MachinesMore  3 місяці тому

      It could be the riser but it’s odd you get a vga signal in BIOS but not past that point. Usually it’s all or nothing with riser cables. Is your display cable connected to the graphics card, or the motherboard? I would make sure it’s connected to the card. If you have integrated graphics I would also try booting into windows with it and check your settings.

      @@MachinesMore it actually only goes into bios if I cmos it and spam the delete button if not it goes straight into my desktop but nothing shows up on my monitor. Never had that before. • @MachinesMore
      @MachinesMore  3 місяці тому

      Yeah, sounds like the riser might be the issue- it could be defective but one last thing to try might be to specifically tell the board to run the slot in PCIe 4.0 mode instead of auto (if your slot is gen 5 compatible). Usually this is under the x16 settings.

    • @MachinesMore
      @MachinesMore  3 місяці тому

      I don’t think so, mainly because of the clearance at the top. My reference point was the 240 I setup at 57mm was barely touching the RAM latches so a 280 combo thicker than that would definitely be hindered, LF III is closer 63mm overall.

    Cooler Master shot themselves in the foot by only having the vertical GPU mount. They were trying to save money by using a design they already had tooling for instead of making a true v2 version. The sama IM01 is the closest thing you can get to an nr200 with an aio.
