Dice's Droideka seems enjoyable but does not follow the real Droideka in the most representative way. They are flanky it is correct but they are also very tanky. Low damage could be logical for game balance's sake but it is better to give it a more powerful shield or If Dice wants to stick with flankiness of Droideka over tankiness of Droideka then they just should add a damage distance buff without touching shields. I think second option sounds better. Well they can make droideka a infantry type which act as a tank as it supposed to be but being an armored car / light tank instead of walking tank is more balanced and also more original idea.
Hi Calum, there may be someone even earlier, but “how to not suck” was stolen by Quinn from a guy called The Otaku who did Battlefront 2015 videos. He seems to have given up now but was really amazing. Cheers.
I absolutely love the hit and run gameplay style of the Droideka. Didn't take me long to realize to play this way, because it's just perfectly built for it. BUT i do think just a tiny buff on the Blaster damage at medium range would be good. There's this weird distance where you swear you're close enough to do decent damage, but you're really just shooting marshmallows. Health and Shields are perfect imo.
One other really good use for the droideka is running distraction operations. Don't underestimate the power of rolling back and forth in front of the enemy spawn and then leaving for a bit to heal, before repeating. The sheer number of clones that have basically thought: "Oh cool, I can kill a Droideka!" and shot at me, _barely_ scratching my health pool and wasting time that they could have spent running towards any of the several objective markers, is astounding. One Droideka can distract a good third of the enemy team or more like this, and it really does make a difference and help thin out the opposition your team faces.
The only 2 buffs I think Droidekas need are: Running over, or at least knocking over and doing a bit of damage to enemies while in wheel mode. Less damage drop off at range. Oh and maybe give enforcers back the Explosives expert card, but make it also buff droideka’s shields. Maybe rename it “Tech Expert” it something.
I agree, you'd imagine that as a ball of metal (like grevious' claw rush) you'd be able to do *something* against a clone when you go to roll over their good toe, amiright?

The terminator theory is how I was going about it. Nice tips, thanks. I wish they would have gave the Droidekas their own cards. Would have been nice and fun to get. The roll could damage the opposing player. Doesn’t need to kill them like Grievous. They could give it a buff....
I manage to do fairly good with them, but they still need a buff. Lightsaber users are way to powerful against a droideka, especially how the lightsabers pull the droideka towards them. They need transformation damage reduction, shield buff, mid range damage buff. You know, the usual stuff everyone else is talking about. They should be more powerful, because in the movies and tv shows they were highly effective, expensive and relied upon. Much more than the B-2s and B-1s. They may be balanced at the moment, but that doesn't matter. The lore dictates they are a good bit more powerful than they are now. In the Phantom Menace, Qui Gon and Obi Wan literally run away from them and use the force to enhance their speed for good measure. Right now, when a droideka pops up on the battlefront I am not scared at all. I want to be scared and intimidated by them. But sadly I am not and view them in most situations as an easy kill. Though I have noticed people using them more competently, its still few and far between. They can be very good in certain situations. But I believe they need a buff for improved game mechanics and to coincide with the established canon lore.
they still need a buff. They should be a good bit more powerful than a b-2 super battle droid. They cost the CIS considerably more than a B-2 and a B-1. The rolly boys need to be objectively the most powerful infantry reinforcement on the CIS side. This would, of course, come with a high battle point cost. But that's not a problem with me.
Droidikas definitely need a shield durability buff. Make it have at least twice the shield health it has, either that, or increase the damage for Midrange, but not so you're able to kill troops from across the map
Funny, I figured this out all by myself just by playing the game and now my enforcer class is at level 40. Excellent explanation bombastic, people are gonna need these tips.
I leveled mine up to 50 using the Super battle droid, effective as heck on the front lines whereas the droideka is a flanker, good to exploit having 2 enforcers in your deck, isn't it?
you can also do the jump transformation trick to be able to shield and start firing a split second earlier, basically while your doing the final part of the uncurling animation because the game registers you starting the animation midair.
Rule #4 If your going for a head on attack, never pop out of rolling in front of your enemies. When you transform into turret mode it leaves you exposed and you can take a lot of damage. Transform BEHIND COVER and then walk into the battle. It may seem slow, but it's worth it.
I have done many matches only Droidekas and gotten top 2 and 3 they don't need a buff when you know how to play them I don't really even use your rules all the time I fallow my own but these will help people for sure to do well with them!
In supremacy, play for Seperatists, after you capture a command post on the republic cruiser, play as a Droideka and roll to the weak points to fire at. The clones will have to worry about you and the other homies coming that way. A droideka with the no cooldown ability plus the rest of the fire can fully destroy one weak point. The destroyer form of the Droideka is hard to push with a force user so you can put pace and maneuver them.
I play droidekas a little differently I always roll straight to a point in capital supremacy and activate my sheil first thing when I get there and then I go full defense mode but if my shield goes down I run to cover so it can recharge and when it does I go straight back to where I was and if I see a lightsaber hero and there are like 2 other droidekas there I just start firing and then they start firing and if the hero does not run away they die in like 10 seconds
From the start I didn’t think that the Droideka needed a buff. I would say I use them correctly and really enjoy. Anyway thanks for the vid #StayBombastic
Easy tip to win 1v1 if both you and them see each other, jump and transform at the same time it will cut the shield deploy time in half and your weapons are ready faster meaning instant shield and guns during transformation. And even tho Droidekas aren't the bad-ass machines I was hoping, they are by no means completely useless. I highly advice this video to those struggling with Droidekas because I can confirm each of these tips are everything you need to git gud at Droidekas.
Droidekas rolling over or knocking down enemys would be nice :D to balance it out maybe you'd loose your momentum or have to jump at them to knock 'em down
3:00 Fyi bb, Assists count as Kills on the scoreboard As for my opinion on buffs for the Droideka, they should get *ONE* knockdown effect per enemy in ball-morph, if it's too overpowered DICE could lower their turn radius and/or speed.
I will have to try these rules next time I play Droidekas. Maybe they could deal a small amount of damage if they roll into someone, but I would say no more than 10-15 points of damage, to keep them from being too powerful.
I’ve been saying this flanking is best way to go and I’ve seen doidecka just pop up few shots of well ion build nails. Most is trying run and gun this is not the play-style for this unit. Imma add four rule don’t kill Jedi unless you flank they don’t see you is best chance.

While I haven't kept up with patch notes, etc. (and I'm a year late), on launch I felt they needed a buff to their shields, don't think quite as much of a buff as I used to, to the shields, but tweaks here and there wouldn't hurt. As for the Droideka itself, I find using it in a sort of "wolfpack" with another Droideka or if on the defensive a Aerial B2 or two works wonders, especially against vehicles which have a rough time targeting both as Droidekas move to fast in ball form to easily target and Aerial B2s can jump clean over them, allowing for some pretty quick and clean kills, if they were in a situation where they had to fight say an AT-ST they'd decimate the AT-ST easily since it just can't keep up with them, their really underrated vehicle killers from what I've seen.
Since shields don't regenerate, if I am in heavy combat [and have the enforcer card that makes you gain health on enemy kills] I will overcharge my guns and drop my shields when they are low! Also you can reload while rolling =D.

@Clone Shocktrooper that loves the Republic yeah but the death trooper is supposed to be an assault class so- it’s kinda the purpose of it.
The droideka needs at least a shield buff. A heavy trooper's shield is stronger than a droideka's shield which is kind of stupid...
You can't shoot through those tho...I think that's why they're stronger.
