I was born on the coast. Great growing up as a kid. We would be in the sea at every opportunity. Obviously, as a kid, very often you weren’t always prepared, but no one worried about that sort of thing. The freedom we had back then was great. 55 years on and it is a very different story, unless you have a small boat to find somewhere secluded. Happy days. 😊
The oldest paddle steamer operating in the UK Nick is the “Waverley” which operates on a number of routes along the Clyde Coast, the Bristol Channel and the South coast.
The Kingswear castle was built in 1924 at Philips yard on the dart now Noss marina it’s the oldest paddle steamer the Waverley (built 1946) is the oldest seagoing steamer as the Kingswear Castle now only operates on the river Dart.😊
The Waverley has been giving tours around the isle of Wight this summer. She trundled across Sandown Bay a few weeks ago while we were there having lunch.
Days like that are why we boat Nick. Makes the cost's, the repairs, the often dodgy weather, fade from memory... You don't just do boat reviews, you share a bit of your life and your contagious passion and enthusiasm for what you do with us too Nick. Hope you're okay. Cannes done now, Southampton next no doubt. Be well 👍🛥
Thank you for the great video. Wonderful escapism, I look forward to every one of these type of videos. Whatever your trials and tribulations Mr Aqua, you're always a treasure. Glad you didn't sell the boat! Keep boating, and we're with you always. 😊
This was like the taste of a home grown tomato - nothing compares to that bought! The flavour of being on the water, the unexpected companionship of friends and the sociability of those one passes by on the river. Smugglers was as ever perfect in her nature environment and as you put it just ‘Bliss’. Thank you for taking us along.
I'm disabled following a spinal condition and have accepted I'm unlikely to ever be able to do some things I've always wanted to. Owning a boat is one of them. Your channel, especially these videos, give me access to something I thought I'd never have. Thank you, Nick. God bless and Happy Easter.
Thank you, it really has, and thanks for taking the time to reply. I'd watched your tours previously and my little girl became a fan, wanting to get me a boat when I finally retire. Then things went wrong and I'd given up hope. But your boundless enthusiasm and the richness of the videos gave that back. You really do give an awful lot to this community and we're very grateful. Thusly... 🤣 Every blessing. 🫡
Don't forget the "Waverley paddle steamer" had the pleasure of a Southend-on-Sea to London tower bridge trip last year, She would make a very good boat tour and I'm sure they would appreciate the extra publicity, she is an amazing pece of classics kit 👍 and they are currently down south doing trips as she normally lives in Scotland..
Thank you for sharing your day on your channel. We only want you and I am glad you have good friends around you. Off to Southampton tomorrow to dream. Take care looking forward to your next video.
A different video to what I normally watch on your channel, and beautiful. Seeing super yachts is one thing, but to see the adventure and enjoyment that boating brings is on another level. Thank you for sharing your adventure 😊 x
A very nice boating adventure with your very best friends (I adore them)😊The scenery, playfulness, the pure friendship and love of life is truely heartwarming 🙏 Thanks 😀
That was great Nick. Bit of everything. Just proves that pottering around in boats is relaxation....its not all about great journeys. The paddle steamer was beautiful Dancing Star was looking nice anchored in the entrance of the Dart! Boating people are always happy to lend a hand, unlike life in general
Hi Nick, And thank you for this show with the Smugglers Blues out again for a nice relax day on the sea with some frends Sally and Greg both with a Jeanneau 805 looks great together then on the end sailing back very slow to your dock that was nice and relaxing also for us Thanks again Nick that is a nice show
I suspect we all share the same feeling about boating…the rejuvenation and semi-isolation from the rigors of the world where our problems are eclipsed at least for a moment or two. The salt-air tonic that helps us breathe again. All the best.
Hi , we will need deeper pockets , than the depth of the river , to run that one . Great to see what can be built though . Yes on days like that it is the only place to be and far from the maddening crowds , of land lubbers . Snap davits , worth their weight in gold . Thanks for the video and who played along .❤👍
Hey I love your videos, my love of boats came from a family friend owning one in brixam 10 years ago he still owns it to this date ,I love the idea of one day owning one of my own one day 😊👍 I love the fact you get to go and see every kinda boat, but the smile on your face every time you get to your own just makes me want to own my own version of smugglers one day even more 😊
Not the only paddle steamer Nick, there is one called the waverley which at moment going from clacton on sea pier, nice to see u out on boat again before winter
Surely the world famous Waverley paddle steamer, must be accounted for ? Summer spent on the west coast of Scotland. She used to berth over winter in Southampton. You may have seen her there ?
Not a bad day out to an isolated cove for some fun and frolics with your friends Greg and Sally, nick in the lovely September sunshine just a perfect day.
Clutch of 805's , great boats. 4 weeks without one was tough, especially as September's weather started so well, luckily the new boat collection from Plymouth to Solent went well last week, we did wave as we went past Dartmouth, honest!
One of the best ever Nick. I really liked that one. Gives us plebs something to work towards. And kudos to you for taking a dip without a wetsuit, whilst your compadre had one on....i think I'd be wearing a drysuit in the UK nowadays cos I'm a wuss😂. Please keep em coming, i really like your boat reviews, but seeing you enjoy the water in a (relatively) affordable boat is much more interesting....for me at least 👍👍
Clear enough water to be in the Med! What a fantastic day out, most enjoyable. I love the view of the land from the water, such a beautiful area you live in.
January 3rd, new years here, already craving some SB2 bliss (particularly since mortgage increases have pushed back my long awaited boating dream another year or two !
Many have mentioned the PS Waverley, berthed a few miles from my home. It matters not that maybe she was unknown to Nick, he surely knows about her now due to the number of mentions on here. This is not a criticism in any way, but rather a brilliant platform for subscribers to add knowledge and fun to what is a super channel, Nick! Indeed, so many people love your trips where you showcase your own love of simply being afloat! That's what it's all about after all, and I bet you had even more fun than the Lurssen folk! I attach this link just so the Waverley gets another view or two...Danny Wilcox has a fab channel showing the West coast of Scotland where he tours extensively in his small inflatable boats, so for those who want to experience the beauty of this area the photograpy is superb. Not a competitor for Aquaholic, just another place to see beautiful scenery from a small boat. Thank you Nick for sharing your personal experiences on your own boat...we all appreciate them, and persdonally I like them more than the tours of boats I can never afford. The joy of being afloat? You bring it to us! ua-cam.com/video/7tzHq6OK6yM/v-deo.html
Once again Nick I really enjoyed watching that. Do you know what, as beautiful as that multi million pound super yacht is, I bet you spend more quality enjoyable time on your boat than the owner of that does. Happy boaty boating xx
Love the Airplane and Police Squad references! 😂 As always, thank you for taking us along with you! That Lursson…..SB3? 🤣 Have great weekends one and all and Thanks again Nick!
Lovely Nick but you forgot The Waverley it’s still running as a commercial paddle steamer and is ocean going.I see her moored in the Clyde during the close season on my way to work.I also see it regularly sailing past our house on the shore front in Troon doing its “doon the water” cruises in the Firth of Clyde
Perfect day...It's been an odd year. I got into the sea last week for the first time all year...that is very unusual for me, normally I'm in from May until September. So I get this. The Spring was very odd, very late and threw a spanner in the works, Summer was a drought. For me personally this Summer was a right off, but now I'm back in the groove, wanting warmth and clear waters for snorkeling. Lovely to see people, normal people, enjoying their leisure time. The mega yacht was spectacular but at the same time slightly ostentatious and ugly? The Dart looks superb.
So great Sally would Play with your dingy when Marianne are on hollyday. Love the good humor you have with Greg and Sally. And what a awesome day on the water. I Wish i Can try that one day, my boat friend are a farmer, and he allways have a lot of work to do. But one day 🎉🚤
Interesting interview with Simon Jordan here is the excerpt … I also have a yacht moored in Marbella. I bought it nine months ago for £3m. It costs £150,000 a year to berth it, £60,000 a year to clean it and about £200,000 a year just to take it out - all good fun."…..bit more than10 % of value then. Then add depreciation of at least 10% and boating must be the most expensive hobby in the world.
Nick, I was so thrilled I wished to hit the like button at every cut, ( at times every frame ) but the best I could do was ride along for the entire video till the end! Thanks so for sharing our UA-cam friend!❤
Awesome! Nothing like chilling with friends on the water…. Boat show today and then viewing a boat tomorrow, the same as yours and and Gregg’s…. See if we can do a deal
boat spotters delight ------- paddle steamer -- superyacht and 'aquaholic' ..... whats the chance of that !!!!! ......
“Suffice to say they’re out” what a great lady.

Can’t wait for the spring 2024 🙂
Can't wait for summer 2024❤

Great to see you out and enjoying yourself again. Real friends, a good boat, and a fair wind. It's all we really need...
growing up near the detroit river where it meets lake Erie, this is about every weekend for us during the summer. It was the best of times.
Pure bliss of a day that, a day on the water is a tonic for everybody. Thanks for sharing Nick.

Outstanding! Love this kind of content. Nick, please give us more of this. Thanks

Great stuff Nick, once again you’ve captured and portrayed the essence and emotion of boating. Stunning conditions and scenery.
Many thanks! 🙂
Was pondering about the temperature of that water. Your reaction when you jumped in is all the answer I needed 😅

What a lovely second-hand excursion this was. Perfect antidote to a busy day in the salt mines!
Wonderful scenery. A lot different to the SW Florida coastline where I'm at!

Looked like a sublime day out. I could see you didn’t need the help when berthing but it’s always nice when someone offers 😀. Thanks for sharing Nick

Fantastic video thanks for sharing it was the best day of this year, we followed you out, great to see a large super yacht in the river.
I thoroughly enjoyed that
Great to see you enjoying smugglers blues ❤😊
Great to see so many people out enjoying the water.

Hi Nick, I really like the blue stripe on the hull of Smugglers. It’s such a small element of design, but it suits the boat really well.
Love the Airplane and Police Squad references! 😂 As always, thank you for taking us along with you! That Lursson…..SB3? 🤣 Have great weekends one and all and Thanks again Nick!
"Surely you can't be serious,

Lovely to watch. Originating from Plymouth but now living in the Midlands you give me my regular on the sea fix.
Thank you.
Unless my eyes are deceiving me, your boats are the exact same model. Pretty cool
Correct! 😃
With nearly 500k subscribers you’re doing a great job. My favourite channel, hands down. Only got 15yrs before I can retire and buy my first boat. 😂
Wow, thank you!
Best days out are always unplanned they just happen. Great to watch.
Beautiful display of the boating life! It's so much more appreciated when you can relate to it but I hope everyone gets a grasp of its nature.
Nice chill out day. Can’t beat a bit of me time away from everyone. Nice one Nick.

Steam trains and a paddle steamer...talk about having your cake! You're enjoying yourself absolutely too much and I'm more than a bit jealous.
Makes every cent of the mooring, insurance, maintenance, fuel and storage worthwhile.

Im going to have Hawaii 5-0 song in my head all day!
I think the“Waverley” is also a passenger paddle steamer operating in U.K. waters…
Looks like a classic day on the water for you guys!
You need some Fastfender hooks 😊
So great Sally would Play with your dingy when Marianne are on hollyday.
Love the good humor you have with Greg and Sally.

Another great video with fantastic scenery. Did i hear a few bars from Hawi - five O ! Greg's got it sorted
What a great pair
Dont forget about the Waverly paddle steamer.
You and your friends had just as much fun on Smuggler as the Superyacht owner did , guaranteed. Thanks for sharing and hope Marianne is ok (?)
Didn't Nick recently say that Marianne was going to visit family in Ireland?
Interesting interview with Simon Jordan here is the excerpt … I also have a yacht moored in Marbella. I bought it nine months ago for £3m. Some interesting numbers...
Im pretty sure for £12,500 a month you can just buy a house with a dock to keep the boat at.
I think the Waverly paddle steamer also operates commercially in the U.K.
Hi Nick, we love watching your adventures on your boat, even nice quiet ones! Wondering where Marianne has gotten to.
