Thanks so much for watching Helen! You definitely could use craquelure paste. That's something we've never worked with before, but it would add more of an aged finish!
thanks so much for a very clear direction... the table looks awesome! I think I'm going to do with this method on a more modern but discarded entertainment center! I'm planning to make some shutter doors after putting in some shelves and turning it into a pantry... this paint method will make it almost unrecognizable from it's original life!
I am so glad you showed up on my you tube feed. I love the look of Saltwash. I have subscribed to your channel and look forward to watching and learning. I think you did a great video.

Thanks you for the video!! You helped me very much. My sister had Just started making a dresser for me.unfortunately it is only half finished. That was her last project. She died. 😭She was only 43 years old. She could do it perfectly!!!!! my sister loved the saltwash technique. That reamains my last memory. Janine from Germany
Thanks for your sweet comment Janine! I'm so sorry to hear about your sister. Losing someone special is NEVER easy! ❤ You have me tearing up. Maybe trying to saltwash your own piece of furniture would help you feel closer to her and you can create some new memories while still thinking of her.
Thanks Audrey! SaltWash is so much fun to work with! If you give it a try let us know how you liked working with it. That is a really cool texture and I love the variety of colors peeking through. It IS Coastal. I thought you would do something more Coastal for those glass pockets.
Thanks so much for watching, creating with Saltwash really is fun. I love all the colors and textures on this table too. What would you do in the glass pockets? I guess it could be cool to add some sand and small shells.
@@2thesunnyside Yes! Something like that. So many possibilities. Could be fake, could be real. Or small illustrations of seashells? Driftwood? Small glass pebbles? That would be pretty.
Thanks so much Sophie! The finish really is dependant on where the paint is going to be applied. A flat finish would be best for a ceiling as it will show fingerprints and won't clean! Satin and or semi-gloss are good for furniture pieces because they do have a little sheen, and will clean up easily. Eggshell is our preferred finish for walls. It's not shiny but it still cleans up well.
Great question Jeff. You're right, there is not finish top coat applied to this project. It has held up really well, just like any other painted piece of furniture. I'd say if you're looking to get that extra protection you'd definitely want to add a top coat.
There's really no good way to explain that other than the difference you'll see starting off with a new piece of sandpaper as compared to how it might feel like you're sanding slower as the paper gets dull. Hope that made sense.
when you are spot painting with the 2 different aqua colors is that with the saltwash again or just regular paint. i couldn't tell. this technique will hide a multitude of sins!! love it :)
Thanks Karen! Sorry for being a little confusing, yes we used the saltwash mixed in with all of the blue colors. The white layer (top layer) is the only layer we painted without saltwash added. Hope that helps.
You can watch tutorials and read more about saltwash on their site. There's really not a wrong way to use saltwash, it's just personal preference. I'd suggest playing around with it on a scrap piece of wood or something to get the feel for it and see how you like it before committing to your main project. Remember the key to getting that weathered and salt worn finish is to sand the project after it has dried. If you feel that you've applied too much, you can always sand it a little more in those areas. Hope this helps.
It's funny that you say that, because my style is always changing. Now that it's several years later, I do feel it's pretty busy. I do still like the weathered and worn look but if I were to do it again, I'd use less colors and wouldn't add as much texture.
Wow!!! Totally was NOT expecting the finished product to look like it did. Great look.
Isn’t it a crazy technique? Next time I think I’ll just use two colors for a less busy look, but it will still feel weathered
Thank you you tube for a suggestion for me. I LOVE this product and process. Thank you for sharing. A new fan.

Thanks this helped me do my first cable, which was my grandmother’s but I’m using Anne Sloan chalk paint
That's awesome! How did it go?
I am in love with the table and the colors. What a great project! Thank you for the tutorial.
That is gorgeous!
Thanks for watching
AWSUM LOOKS GREAT!!
Thanks. A little different than the traditional painting methods, but it does have a unique finish.
Lovely work, ladies. A terrific result on your console - I think I might be using some Saltwash very soon. Thank you for the video!

Thanks so much!
you are super. Thank you! and in this case you can use places craquelure paste. if yes, what kind of craquelure.

❤ very cool work, but I really wanted to add craquelure. do you have any work with craquelure
We haven't ever done anything with craquelure. Sounds like it's something we should look into though!
Came out awesome👏👏👏🙌💕

Woww very nice, I love it !!!!♥ What finish do you take for PURE WHITE and colours paint, flat, satin, semi-gloss ?
Thanks so much Sophie! The finish really is dependant on where the paint is going to be applied. A flat finish would be best for a ceiling as it will show fingerprints and won't clean! Very lovely look! Only I do not feel like doing it myself just because I hate dusty sanding process 😀
😂 We totally get it! Sanding is messy for sure! Too bad that's the key step to creating this look.
Great job! Thanks so much for posting. I absolutely love it! Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for your comment!
Club of Paris will do it and it is chipper and regular salt!
Oh, good to know! Thanks for sharing! I'm always looking for a better deal.
Club of Paris? What is that?
Considering the salt, and apparently no clear finish top coat, is the piece water proof/resistant?
Great question Jeff. You're right, there is not finish top coat applied to this project. It has held up really well, just like any other painted piece of furniture. I'd say if you're looking to get that extra protection you'd definitely want to add a top coat.
How many times did you need to change the sandpaper when sing the dial sanding.
There's really no good way to explain that other than the difference you'll see starting off with a new piece of sandpaper as compared to how it might feel like you're sanding slower as the paper gets dull. Hope that made sense.

Hi guys, I've tried to do a piece with this technique but what do you wipe the dust off with? Thanks 😊
You can use a vacuum to get most of the dust up, then wipe it with a damp washcloth. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
Is there a troubleshooting for saltwash paint (when applied too much or wrong placed)?
You can watch tutorials and read more about saltwash on their site. There's really not a wrong way to use saltwash, it's just personal preference.
