  • I shot a lot of ammo and came up with a lot less conclusions than I thought I would. What I finally came up with, well... that is the subject, isn't it? I also have another conclusion about Gen 5 Glocks and what bullet weights they prefer.

    Your “rested” pistol technique looks pretty flawed if your goal was to have the gun recoil the same each shot…a dedicated pistol rest or a proper proven sandbag technique rather than rolling and bouncing off the table top cushioned on the meat of your hand might yield a more credible result…KKM barrels are match grade excellence in my experience.

    Maybe have a camera real close to the target to record which number shot is the flier every group, might really be something inside the gun, mag or even weight difference, id say weight difference maybe if was last shot the flier the gun being more light and have more instability. I don’t think it’s you. And is very important if we figure out these fliers together cuz in a self defense scenario that flier might be the one going loose and hit someone else and something that we not intent to hit

    • @graydogllc
      @graydogllc  4 місяці тому

      Based on everything I have seen, it is definitely the first shot. I don't think the difference is going to make a change in a defensive shoot, or at least I hope not.

    It looks to me like the kkm barrel was quite a bit more accurate .. I don't know if it's worth $150 more than other barrels for edc .. I've been getting my barrels from Spectre Supply lately they seem just fine so far 👍

    The most accurate pistol I’ve ever shot was a Canik that I got like 13 years ago If not longer but they said it has a match barrel at the gun shop and at 15 yards that gun would put 18 in a 2” circle every time it was incredible I didn’t do any testing with ammo I always just shot cheap ball ammo then one day I figured I needed to upgrade and I miss that gun over 7000 rounds that I know I bought all without a misfire not sure how they are now but man for 250$ that was a steal how far are you shooting your groups ?

    I had a Ruger P85 that did that.. that first shot was always out of the group no matter what I did or how I ran the slide home.. of course that made the gun worthless to me as I enjoy hunting.. ultimately got rid of the gun..

      According to one of the guys who works at ransom rest, that first round flier is pretty common. With the 17 I just aim 3" left for the first round now.

      @@graydogllc Although I have never used a ransom rest..as a handgun hunter and reloader I have shot literally thousands of rounds off the bench testing loads bullets and guns over the years.. the Ruger is the only gun I've tested that would lock up weird on chambering the first round.. in the day of CNC made guns.. I think common is an overstatement... in my world a handgun that won't shoot 2 in or less at 25 yards will find itself on the chopping block.. in this time of CNC machined guns most hunting type weapons and service autos should meet this standard.. I would sell it and get an example that's built correctly..👍👍

      @graydogllc  2 роки тому

      @@6fiddy309 you must chop a lot of pistols. There are very few that will shoot 2" or less from 25. Glocks won't. Smith & Wessons won't. Maybe some Sigs, HKs, and custom 1911 actions.

      The KKM barrel proves more accurate than the factory one with 147gr bullets. With 124s it is a wash. I've found that gen 5 glocks prefer 124s, at least in my hands and with my testing.

    • @freakpower91
      @freakpower91 2 роки тому +1

      115 are the most common though. Doesnt the 147 produce more recoil? Seems like it might negate the accuracy boost if you are running a competition

    • @graydogllc
      @graydogllc  2 роки тому

      @@freakpower91 115 is most common for practice/bulk. 124s and 147s are much more common for defensive or competition use. And recoil is largely a virtue of the amount and type of powder, no matter what bullet weight. I ran 147s with fast powder for years due to the very light recoil impulse.
