I love the FIAT 132 GLS, my childhood memories with my older brother, it reminds me of him and never forget that time of his youth with his car, he had 132 GLS 1972, rest in peace my brother.

Fix It Again Tomorrow was the acronym for these in the 70s. I did my apprenticeship on these. If you got a good one you had a great car. The bodies were the biggest let down. The 132 was, in its day, a good looking car. It went well, was comfortable and, if serviced regularly was reliable. We had a customer who ran one as a taxi, it covered over 200,000 miles without major problems. The 131 had problems from the start. I remember being called out to a broken down 131 that the customer said had "gone bang" and had managed to coast into a lay-by. On opening the bonnet (hood for our cousins across the pond) the large hole in the block with a conrod sticking through it gave us a clue. It turned out this was the tip of a very expensive iceberg for FIAT. Apparently the workers in the engine assembly plant didn't know how to use a torque wrench, with the result as previously described. There was a recall campaign to replace the main and conrod bolts on all 1300 and 1600 engines. Another problem was with the 131 was what many customers incorrectly described as "pinking" when blipping the throttle. It turned out to be end float in the gearbox layshaft. We had to change the oil for a different type and if that didn't solve the problem the box had to be stripped and the layshaft thrust washers replaced. A FIAT garage was never out of work.
I was to young to really appreciate these Fiats, but still have memories of them. I loved Fiat, but in the 90s was put of so badly by a salesman, that I never looked at the brand again. As a kid, I learned the acronym First In All Trouble. My experience was that you cannot break a Fiat engine if you service it properly and they can take a very hard beating. Also know about a person that have done almost 100000km with a 1100 Uno and did not know that you had to service an engine. Unbelievably, but the engine was still running with plugs that almost did not exist and oil that was a thick paste. Two engine flushes and new plugs, filter and oil and it just continued running.
I had a 132 in about 87,2.0 litre, loved everything about it apart from the sun visors that nearly sliced my head off when getting out of the car one day,mine was silver but I repainted it black and de badged it,no-one knew what it was from then on,I still miss it..

I had a 78 131 BRAVA, with automatic trans. It was fast as hell,and would corner like no other car. My dad had 132 in red back in 1970s - fast one too did 140 km regulary on highway (back them in Finland was experemental like in Germany no speed limit)
1981 131 1600cc MirafioreS 1977 model year Manual gearbox was my first car, a couple of years later I bought a 132 GLS 1800cc Automatic 1978 model year gearbox, but the 132 would be my choice if I had to choose now.

Our S reg (1977?) lost its timing belt at 2 years and 25k miles, and threw a rod at 3 years old and 30k miles. Quiet and comfortable, but a strange booming sound on motorways - possibly the overhead cam? Champagne yellow
I recall the 131 I don't believe I've ever heard of the 132 as far as seeing a 131 I remember something about them being an important but I don't recall actually sing one it may not have got my attention I do remember something that I'm going to Google up in Rome just outside of the Vatican City in 1975 I recall seeing a few Fiat limousines two of them were that beautiful dark blue and there was one black I've never seen them before or since these were the only three that I've ever seen I'm going to Google them up and find out what model they were based on
I believe I was completely wrong I could not find a Fiat limousine in that time era I believe what I was seeing was probably a chauffeured 131 actually three of them
I really like the 128s especially the two door dark blue embassy blue yes and a tan interior I suppose I'd have to have an FM radio that's about all you need in those really love those cars they were joy to ride in I never actually drove one

Macchinoni per cuel tempo. Solo un difetto grandi consumatori era difficile mantenerla. Penso che per cuesto motivo 131 ha avuto maggior successo motori meno consumatori il diesel te lo scordavi. Fiat 124 era il meglio di cuelli tempi. Non tutti potevano comprarla per il suo costo ma e rimasta un desiderio di tanti noi poveracci.
