Since most of the engineering man-hours were invested by Bajaj, I think the spirit of the Pulsar is within this bike. I have yet to test ride it, though. My views may change then.
1:23 - Honda Highness (seems to) not have worked just because of the availability in Bigwing showrooms alone. If they can expand their showroom numbers, it will definitely garner higher sales.

I can agree with you when comparing the classic with speed 400, but the Hunter I feel gets replaced by the speed 400 hands down. It is marketably better than the Hunter in every aspect of the bike, albeit it engine tuning which is a preference. Plus it is in the same market segment, modern classic. It's an urban commuter with the chops for your weekend countryside ride. And in that aspect the Speed 400 clearly outclasses the Hunter.
Don't forget the sizeable price difference between hunter and speed 400. That tilts the needle in favour of hunter when taken as an urban commuter/occasional weekend rides segment
I have rent the RE 350 and Thunderbird 500 during my trips. I own a Jawa 42. It feels soo refreshing when I am back from the trip to ride my Jawa 😍 the power is much more than RE. The ride quality, handling and braking is on another level. The weight balance is off on the RE resulting in poor handling. I can easily feel the difference!
Both engines are different. RE has long stroke engine whereas Jawa / Yezdi has a short stroke engine just like KTM .. RE is torque oriented as Jawa is horsepower.
If I were to choose between speed 400 and x440 I would definitely go for the harley. That low end grunt and pull is addictive. And there’s not much choice in that category which also can do speeds like 150 and comes at a below 3 lakh price tag. Only possible con is hero’s built quality and aftersales service.
