GS300 Turbo Install

- Just a quick video of my turbo installation on my 2001 Lexus GS300. It’s completely stock. I’m running the stock ECU, 6PSI high, and 4PSI low (wastegate spring) This is a kit I pieced together myself, a nice very mild stage one setup.

I’ve been getting a lot of questions, just so you guys know, everything is stock minus the exhaust and turbo setup. Stock fuel system, stock internals, and stock ECU. I do have a GReddy Ultimate, and a boomslang plug and play harness, just not installed. JUST SO YOU GUYS KNOW, THIS IS A VERY MILD STAGE 1 SETUP. You will not make 300+whp on this setup as is, safely and reliably. Again this is a MILD STAGE 1 SETUP.
Props man, I got a 99 I’m wanting to do... so nervous my first time but good seeing yours. Sick ride man 💪💯
@@dt1productions918 thanks! It was my first time boosting too! Best advice I can give is to not be afraid, make sure you got another ride, and be prepared to spend money as you tweak your setup. My Lex has been down a few times, but that’s all things I’ll discuss in my follow video, currently shooting scenes still.
what turbo do you have on it and where can i buy it?
Sold my gs a while ago. I plan to import an aristo in a couple years. This here is a good start. If u can do a fuel upgrade and a tune next i think ull be really happy with the results. This is a great car to have and build on. One of my all time favorites.
Whats the name for the turbo
The dog in the window at 3:33💀💀
Yeah my guy Caine wanted in on some of the action. I was waiting for someone to notice it!!!
Great build, Love to see brothers perfect their craft. 🤘🏿💯
Thank you brother ✊🏾
Sick build, nice work doing your own turbo setup!
🙏🏾
looks slick my dude!!!
Dope. Getting my gs together now
Good job bro, liked the content
Thank you, appreciate the support!!! More content coming soon
😎 Long Live Tha GS Baby.👌
🤘🏾
So sick dude
amazing i have the same color and year as well as gray interior. i also plan to do this
Just finished this up on my lex on a 3.5 psi spring and when she hit boost she feels like a whole different car!
Ayyy good shit bro
What manifold are you running ?
Or were
hell yeah🔥🔥🔥
Good job my brother nice Ride God bless you
Thank you 🙏🏽
Yeah... .nice work bro. I wanna instal on my mark2 grande
slick car man.
🤘🏾
Damn! I've been looking for one of these vids for a long time. awesome work bro. Have you ever ended up tuning the car? or just kept it as it sits? Lastly, do you have instagram? Would love to keep in touch and see how the build goes. Subscribed.
Jamal Knapp my IG is dhatlex
Damn bro that’s fucking Awesome
I see you G. Handle you!
Apex VisionTV You already know bro! Thank you for the support!!!
did anyone notice the first whole minute was synced to the beat that shit had me trippin
Love the build. Are you runnig gte piston and rod or just the stock ge pistions and rods?
DreadsmitDrift Thanks!!! Stock GE VVTI. I’ll be upgrading internals next year, hopefully
Dope work man🔥id be down for a stage 1 for my gs3.
A lil kick Is all you need sometimes.
you should check Power Dynamix, they (back early 2000's) are the ones that made their money on making big power out of the gs platform. They use to sell trans upgraded sprockets for the trans to make some good power on. You've got a sick build.
Yeah I very familiar with them, thanks 🙏🏽
Nice broo great ✌️
bro the dog in the window at 3:30 has me dead
😂
can't go wrong with a smoke break
Nice man have a question what turbo manifold did you buy ?
Cx racing
I am aware that in this video you are on stock fueling systems. May I ask if you are running an afr guage? If so what kind of ratios are you running? Idle, mid throttle/low boost, and WOT/full boost. I’m currently troubleshooting my build which is very similar so any feedback is awesome and very appreciated. I love your build and will continue to support
And if possible what gate pressure are you running and what actual boost number are you hitting?
*Dear GTE fan boys that have driven up the price of the 2jz, THIS IS THE SAME BLOCK MINUS THE OIL SQUIRTER. Everything else is fairly easy to upgrade*
Love the build but quick question how much psi are you running
🙏🏽 I’m running a 4PSI spring. I have a Greddy Boost controller wired up, it’s just not plumbed to the solenoid
👌👌👌👌👌
This is exactly the type of setup I want for my 2000 300GS.
Links to gear in description would be appreciated 👍
I got links in my newer video. Ppl just come to this one only. Guess UA-cam only push this video.
I just wanna know when you bought the turbo from and how much did it run you?
Where can I find all the part I need to do this setup and how much will it cost me?
Dog in the back at 3:25 🤣🤣🤣
Yerrr is this a Aristo swap? Or na-t? I can’t wait for the warmer weather I got so many parts just chillin waiting to be installed on my 03
Bro it’s NA-T you’d definitely know if I swapped a GTE in there. Good luck with the 03 and happy boosting!
Where’d u get the turbo kit from?
i just got a gs300 with 174XXX miles, i wanna get a turbo but idk if it can handle it, what should i do?
hellyea stage 1 turbo setup! you just motivated me to boost my GS300, noticed we dont have to relocated ABS like the IS300 guys have to do to! im guessing your running stock ecu under 10psi?
my question is do you still have all 4 o2 sensors hooked up? if so where do you have them located?
I converted B2s1 into B1S1. So I only have one o2 hooked hooked up to the down pipe.
Sounds very nice but just wandering if it was mapped already when you recorded it?
Naw it’s running on on the stock ecu. The piggyback isn’t installed yet.
@@DhatLex how long have u had it on the stock ecu? any issues so far on low boost? how about the 02 sensors?
@@alvinheu I haven’t noticed any issues, and as far as O2 sensors you’re gonna wanna run them but use a O2 spacer on the monitor sensors. That would help with keeping the cel light off
can you please tell me where did you buy this complete turbo kit
You on stock ecu?
How many miles was on the gs300 when boosting it?? I have a 232k gs300 and idk if I should boost it. I know the motor is health but that’s a lot of miles
Kan 1337 235K
@@DhatLex Damn! I have 3 gs300's 04 124k, '00 ( #10 built ) 170k, and '02 with 175k. Thinking of playing with the 02 since it's the one I don't really care about lol.
I have this same exact game and was wanting to start putting things into it, but I’m just not sure what parts to purchase. Any tips?
Do your research before you buy anything
Nice build bro. Did you do the Alluminum piping work?
@@GasBrakeSim naw I had someone fab it up for me. Back then I didn’t know how to fab, now I do 😂
Hey brother, quick question, I noticed you had the oil pan tapped with a fitting welded, so you never tapped the actual oil sump? Have you had any problems with that? I planned on doing the same for my IS, but my other turbo friends said that wouldn’t work.
Tap the oil sump.
I have a 2001 gs300. I'm looking for the same thing a mild turbo kit . Here In Texas gets crazy hot so want my engine cool . Where can I find this turbo kit? Thanks bro and car looks awesome. 👍👊💪
Thanks bro 💯 I pieced everything together, and I had a shop fabricate my intercooler piping. This is a one off setup. You’re going to have to piece your own setup, or buy a kit. If you google GS300 turbo kit, they should pop up. Or you can look up 2JZGE Turbo Kit, but you might have to tweak it to get it to fit and work properly on your platform since it’d be a general 2JZGE Turbo kit. Hope this helped and good luck!!!
Props bro. Excited to see you add fuel mods to this 👍🏼
You and me both!
what kit is this im looking for a kit to do just this and still be reliable without dropping a brick to upgrade fueling and internals
It’s a kit I pieced together myself. I am going to do a follow up video, just wanted to test everything out, and give you guys a true review on my setup. Like, subscribe, and stay tune!
On a scale of 1-10 how easy was it to install? I plan on doing this to my SC
Honesty the install for me was easy, the R&D is what was hard, and costly. For you with the SC300, I believe they only came non Vvti if I’m not mistaken. The only thing I can think of is the distributor cap getting in the way, but I believe you can work around it, or do a distributor delete. I haven’t done this in a SC300 so I can’t really say much on that platform.
what turbo kit did you use i just built my motor for a turbo and not sure which one to get
It’s a kit I pieced together. I’ll have a update video soon. To answer questions a lot of people have been asking.
same cant wait for the vid i have no idea what turbo to get
How much would the parts cost to do this to my 06 gs 300 awd?
This is exactly what I needed to see. Do you have a wideband hooked up? I picked up a kit for my is300 and was looking into a return setup but if your gs runs in the safe range with the factory fuel regulator I may skip that step for now. Not looking for a ton of boost just want to get the kit installed so its not collecting dust. I like the 4psi spring idea. I've never had a boosted car just been watching a pile of videos to see what im getting into
I’d run the fuel return mod along with a RFPR. Better to get everything out of the way, so you don’t have to keep going back. Get a piggyback and a nice light tune so everything is good and you don’t really have to worry about anything.
@@DhatLex what is an rfpr? sorry for my lack of knowledge. Is It technically safe to just run 4 psi without it and the return
@@ryandabeast1 raising rate fuel pressure regulator, and you’ll want to run the fuel return mod with it.
How much horsepower do you think you're running? maybe something like 250rwhp?
Idk, I raced a WRX and beat it. I raced a V6 accord and beat it. I also raced a V8 Cherokee and won. I did think it made 250-265whp but I really don’t know. Hella factors come into play. Hopefully I can free up some extra funds to get some proper dyno runs, and tune in.
Bro I have watched this video like 4x now I decided to order an XS turbo kit and run it on the stock ECU like you did with low boost, can’t believe these 4000 pound cars have 180WHP 😂 Feels like I’m about to die merging sometimes lol let’s fix that !
@@ssjdavid appreciate it, just make sure you do the fuel return mod, with a rising rate fuel pressure regulator.
@@DhatLex hey bro did you have any issues with misfiring? I’m getting them in Cylinders 1-3 and VSC is stuck on I already changed spark plugs
@@ssjdavid did you check for any vacuum leaks, have you checked your O2 sensors? What fault code did you get?
@@ssjdavid also check your coil packs and inspect the wiring
@@DhatLex turns out my battery terminal had buildup on it and it wasn’t making a good connection. Misfiring is solved but still trying to get afrs right other then that the car is superb.
Have you had any problems so far with stock internals?
No problems with the internals. Again It’s not like I’m running tons of boost either
I seen yu got a rev 9 turbo I cant fit a v band on it. Was there a specific v band yu put ?
Paisa Style Nope, just a regular V band
3 inch v band ?
Did you change the head gasket or head studs or just leave it be? How has it been with running around 5psi?
Nope left everything unopened. She’s been running fine. So Far put about 25k miles on her.
@@DhatLex Did you ever put fuelpressure regulator in it?
whered you get that intake
Hey bro did u you upgrade your fuel system at all?
Nope completely stock. Saving money for fuel system now.
How much did you spend for the turbo kit?
He said its a custome kit made by him so i guess it could be around 2k to 5k
What turbo kit is that?
Where did you run the oil lines for the turbo?
The feed is ran from a oil filter sandwich plate adapter, and tucked underneath the engine cover. The return is ran to the oil pan
What turbo kit are you running
He mentioned it on the first comment
@@jxrioss21 oh shit I’m blind thx bro😂
how much did it cost i know nothing but i gave a 2001 gs300 and i wish it was faster 😢
At the time about $1800 give or take. Now, it’ll probably be closer to $2800 give or take, & that’s if you’re doing the work.
That section you put your maf in.... where did you get it??
Part is off of my old HPS intake, just had my fabricator weld it in.
@@DhatLex df and it didn’t throw off your fuel tables?
@@okistash3075 naw it’s the same size as the stock housing.
I found your amazon review on the turbo lol did the second one leak?
This has the original 2JZ-GE right? Is this the VVTI or non-VVTI motor
Vvti
@@jason-le4ke are the vvti's better for turbo builds
@@shadmanzaman1247 in my opinion yes
0-60 now?
What kind of turbo
Did u tune it after install the turbo
Nope, you can follow the build, still going strong ig is Dhatlex and car club is Lexus Legends
Did you tune it on stock ecu?
Nope, can’t tune Toyota ECU, they’re locked.
that was wrong place to tap into the pan
you need to drill into the aluminum upper pan
you need to be above the oil level otherwise the oil drain can back up and blow out the oil seal in your turbo
I got it running into a scavenging pump. I do plan on tapping into the upper oil pan. Initially this was my first time and I was scared of drilling into my oil pan, but I’ve done it a couple times now 😂 appreciate the info tho
@@DhatLex i can weld a fitting onto one of the many upper oil pans i have and sell it to you
@@mrkouki180sx I’ll either do it myself or have my homie do it. Goodlooking out though
After 5 months how is it holding up?
She still running strong. Y’all can follow her progress on IG dhatlex
Is this trustworthy enough to do too a daily driven gs300?
I daily my car except for the winter. Most of the issues I had was because of trying to keep every “budget” friendly. Cheaping out on fittings and some parts. Honestly it’s really a question of whether or not you trust your skills and knowledge.
@@DhatLexI live in Australia so I'm sure temp won't really be a problem, I guess it's just up to my wallet :(
@@BroShed69 yeah you’re going to want to run good oil cooler and transmission cooler. Run a new radiator, you know proper heat management. Just buy stuff bit by bit and install once you have everything. I was stacking up on parts for awhile before I actually did the install. Still a couple more things I want to install before I feel it’s perfect. But don’t give up and plan out everything you’re going to do.
Top speed now? 0-60 in how many seconds after the kit?
Stok ge pistons & rods?
zura matiashvili yessir. Doing a rebuild next year!
Wow I wish I was able to do this. Lol I’m too scared to blow shit ip
could you tell me the parts you used for all this? The intake, turbo, etc..? Thanks man, really appreciate you
Dhat Lex just stock?! I’m confused lol... what turbo? And liked and subscribed too 👍🏼👍🏼 tryna turbo my Gs too
Mikey Martins I’m sorry bro. I gotta Rev9 turbo. A PowerGo MotorSports schedule 40 2JZGE manifold. XS power down and mid pipe, custom intercooler setup, GReddy FV limited Version BOV, XS power 50mm wastegate, no intake but I do have an autozone spectre air filter, and a GReddy Revolution catback (already had that) as far as the internals, and fuel all that is stock.
Also thank you for the support. I’ll try to make another video showing what I brought.
Did you keep ac and ps?
Herbert Barringer yep gotta have my AC and power steering!
What exhaust is that
Greddy Evo2 I believe
What turbo kit is this
Tariq Walker custom kit pieced together by myself
Straight pipe?
Catless, with a GReddy Catback
is it still an automatic? if so how much power do you think it could handle?
350 is Max that the stock transmission can take
@@ChefNorrawitJ From what I heard and seen, they’re good for 400-450RWHP (Healthy transmission) but I don’t go by HP because torque and RPM is what destroys the A650E.
@@DhatLex just gotta watch that 3rd gear
careful with the piston rods . I know youre only making like 300whp but still.
Just got a 2001 with 89k miles in mint condition, leather still smells new
All 2j's rods along with the crank are Forged, it's the pistons along with the 10.5 cr that are the concerns.

So lower the compression and should be mint? Any problems with the car yet?
Nope. I daily to work everyday with her. Just planning The fuel setup, right now.
@@DhatLex thats sick bro. 💯🤙🏾
no mods on pump injectors?
Stock fuel system. I plan on upgrading the rail, FPR, & FPD. God willing this Spring
Hey dhat lex, did you upgrade the ecu? I got the same engine and did a cxracing kit but haven’t run mine in the street yet.
Everything is stock internals on mine also. Sweet pulls
@@motoengineer8671 I have a Greddy piggyback and a boomslang harness, just never installed it yet. I want to do my fuel upgrades first then get the tune, that’s why I’m running a 4PSI WG spring. It’s enough for you to notice but it’s not too much for the stock ecu to handle with a RFPR. Honestly before you run it on the street do the fuel line return mod and upgrade the fuel pressure regulator. Our stock fuel pressure regulator can’t really do much once you go pass 0PSI, it’s not designed to see boost.
@@DhatLex thanks!
how many horsepower?
Idk, but I did race a stock GTE and won
@@DhatLex How much did you spend to make it turbo everything you put in it?

TBH bro I’d recommend going with a Mishimoto 3in setup. That’s what I plan to upgrade to
@@DhatLex any tunes ?
Hmm... The fuel system is even stock? I thought it needed a fuel return line
Jeremy Wu xi nope. Once you start to go above 8PSI then you’ll want to run a return
how much did it cost you to turbo it? i want to turbo my gs300
Including my GReddy EBC, & Innovate Wideband, about $2-2500 and that’s on the low side. I also brought my stuff before the recent inflation, some items I had before Covid.
How much boost?
