FunkySpunky91 I see. I kind of felt the opposite. I thought he was a perfect fit in Metallica. Are you a Metallica fan overall? A pre black album fan? Post?
mrhoffame I guess it's all personal opinion really. His style of playing has completely changed since he became a member of Metallica. I'm a bass fanatic and I loved his style in Infectious Grooves (one of my favorite bands) and then him playing a different style for one of the most mainstream bands in the world. I did like Metallica at one point, which was definitely pre black album. My opinion is that he isn't able to play the way he truly likes due to Metallica.
I saw him using this bass on the metallica facebook page. I spent a minute wondering if he was using the artist series one, as it looked a BO and it had the 2 piece bridge, as compared to the bad ass he has on his German model. Thanks for the video warwick! Keep it up!
I am really intrested in buying this bass but too bad non of the shops here in Cyprus have it. Ilooked it up online but i dont really trust amazon to ship a bass all the way to Cyprus cause i had problems with other basses i ordered. Any help from Warwick?
Hi there, Nick. Why do you think so? :-) The bass Robert is playing is indeed the same bass as Andy is playing - the RockBass Artist Line Robert Trujillo bass. If you check the website, you can easily see that the German-made Robert Trujillo models are neck-through instruments, while the RockBass model is bolt-on, as you can easily see in this video.
The bass Trujillo plays and the one the other guy demonstrates are different...at least in what they have printed on their headstocks and what is printed on the trussrod covers.
i got one a few months ago from dana b goods. they gave me a fair price, and had it in my mailbox 2 days later. give them a call and see if they still have some.
Couldn't help but notice that the bass Robert was playing at the beginning was a German Warwick, whilst the one Andy was playing was the Rockbass line. Didn't Robert want to touch the cheaper ones :P
Absolutely. You can play a bass many ways. Including slapping it like Rob does, using your index and middle fingers ect. But you can use a pick. A lot of bassists use a pick. Better control over the notes and it's louder.
Have a Warwick thumb bass, great bass, can drop it, pop it, slap it. Always get asked to sell them my bass, but nope, never will part with my Warwick, CT and Birdsong
I don't know about you guys but the first thing I'll do when I have some money is to buy a 6 warwick bass. If they don't make perfect instruments they're pretty close.
Hello Uziel, you can find all information about Robert's signature basses here shop.warwick.de/en/Instruments/E+-+Basses/Warwick+RockBass/Artist+Line+-+Robert+Trujillo
***** Well it's pretty hard to find a decent cataloque of warwick lefty instruments anywhere. I mean I've googled the shit out of it and all I get is misc stuff. Warwickbass.com doesn't have one pic of a lefty streamer bass.
just sounds that way bro because Jason uses a pick. All pick players sound cleaner but I am talking about skill in general, Rob is far superior with incredible range
I like Rob. I mean damn you ever hear Orion played by Jason? Its damn aweful but thats just one jam, The only thing I give Jason is back up vocals, but bass Ill go with Rob even playing metal
This is like Warwick doing the lowest common denominator. Alder body, EMGs, nickel silver frets. This is a Warwick Ibanez. Nothing wrong with it. Just not a Warwick.
I'm tired of hearing this response from beginner to average bass players. I own all 3. The person playing the bass is the #1 thing that makes the bass sound the way it does. After that the pickups in the American series far better than Mexican & Squier. The neck on the American Jazz bass needs to be adjusted every 4 months, Mexican every month and Squier every couple gigs. Woods and Fretwork are different. But you have fun with the mediocre bass player trend of cheaper is better.
***** it's shit though, and you know it. He does that often, when he is "testing" lol. Going from his funkiness in infectious grooves to metallica was such a sellout move...
Michael Treas He's right though, I'm not primarily a bass player but I can tell when something is sloppy as hell, and my bassist in my band can play well above Robert's level
The price tag of this rockbass is a ripoff. Why buy an instrument made in china when you can buy a solid Lakland, fender, Ernie ball ect. Made or assembled in the USA for the same price
Robert Truijillo is awesome for music, always has that infectious smile and then that the bass playing starts, dang.
Hey camera man...next time try and keep the camera on Roberts right hand as well.
Imagine playing thumb war with Trujillo. He’d shatter thumbs all over the place. Best bass player to my opinion A total inspiration
He is unique and stylish and his tone is amazing....The he is the reason I am playing bass...Hell of a bassist
That slap bass takes me back to Primus....I want a Warwick so bad.
Has to be one of the most "Crispy" bass guitars iv ever heard!
'I will be using this bass on stage, religiously'
He barely uses his custom shop warwick onstage.
Tarkenton He doesn't use the black one, he uses other ones
He has a slightly different purple and grey one, which is his best imo
I like anything that Robert T does!! Period!
mrhoffame his move to Metallica made me not appreciate him anymore.
FunkySpunky91 Why is that? Do you feel Metallica's music holds him back or something?
hold's back his bass playing capability, yes.
FunkySpunky91 I see. I kind of felt the opposite. I thought he was a perfect fit in Metallica. Are you a Metallica fan overall? A pre black album fan? Post?

Andy hitting some metal bass lines, sweet!
2:20 ... I bet he misses playing like that ....
He’s a puppet now. He’s not allowed to think or play what he wants without JH’s approval.
I love the shirt that Robert is wearing!
Trujillo is an awesome bass player, unfortunately not recognized enough.
dark fretboard looks awesome!
Love the riffs Andy is playing, especially the first
Love this guy! Happy Birthday, Rob!
Awesome playing man!
Than tone!!!! It drives me crazy, fucking love it!
Noodled a little on this bass in the music store today, it feels and sounds awesome, at least for metal. Thinking of picking one up.
awesome bass !!
It's an intro that TM Stevens recorded especially for Warwick, it's not an actual song from an album. Thank you for watching!
fuck the haters, you're awesome rob.
Sounds great! Would be really cool for metal.
Andy Irvine is the perfect person to represent your basses!
Sooo under-rated..But soon as he passes away....
I hope he doesnt pass away hes a amazing bassist
The best musician in Metallica. By far.
+Martin Jackson the only musician*
Iggy Tubmen Kirk is still good. watch him play with exodus and death Angel. Totally different guitarist than what you hear in today's metallica
Heck, Lars isn't even the best drummer in the band :D
U serious? He played like an amature
Andy is way better than Robert
His triplets and quads. I want to be able to play them :/
I saw him using this bass on the metallica facebook page. I spent a minute wondering if he was using the artist series one, as it looked a BO and it had the 2 piece bridge, as compared to the bad ass he has on his German model. Thanks for the video warwick! Keep it up!
I'm in love..
I love Warwick basses one day I would love to get a endorsement with you guys
DimebagVision I am working on it I just need to get the right equipment and such
Exelente yo tengo uno y estoy satisfecho....
intro of the video - loosely play manunkind in 2013?
I want this bass
what kind of a neck is on this bass? is it the same as by standard rockbass neck? i mean about dimensions.
No.
Warwick=MEC.
I would never swap them
What is the name of the opening sound?
his intro bassline is an alternate universe my friend of misery before he starts the gallop. Same hand placement and everything for MFOM
El color es lo que más me impresiona
I am really intrested in buying this bass but too bad non of the shops here in Cyprus have it. Ilooked it up online but i dont really trust amazon to ship a bass all the way to Cyprus cause i had problems with other basses i ordered. Any help from Warwick?
yo tengo uno en venta, estoy en Mexico
Does anyone know if the bass from 7:16 is an improvisation or any song?
Hi there, Nick. Why do you think so? :-) The bass Robert is playing is indeed the same bass as Andy is playing - the RockBass Artist Line Robert Trujillo bass. If you check the website, you can easily see that the German-made Robert Trujillo models are neck-through instruments, while the RockBass model is bolt-on, as you can easily see in this video.
Does it matter whether you use your fingers to play? or can you use your digits?
does anyone know the funk song that plays in the first few seconds?
The bass Trujillo plays and the one the other guy demonstrates are different...at least in what they have printed on their headstocks and what is printed on the trussrod covers.
anybody knows the name of this riff?? 5:28
that bass face....
Exelente yo tengo uno ....
Any advanced and professional bass player can notice something out here 😉
Hit me with what you think bass players :)
Man, did you check this guy?. Run.
de haan ? xd i probably read that wrong bcz thats dutch for The rooster
What's name this song in @0:00 - @0:12??????
Not the Andy Irvine I was expecting. I don't know why I thought the other one was in a video with Trujillo, but I had to find out.
You guys should sent me a Just A Nut III for my 2003 Thumb BO. Hard to find in the USA with out to much price gouging. I miss playing my thumb =(.
anybody knows which song or has tabs to the song rob was playing in the begining
Really? It'd be alot faster learning it by ear AND by looking at it
He was probably improv playing. When you get good at an instrument, you can do that.
Deehan shirt, got a green one of those XD
Manunkind demo Version? Xaxa
How much is it?
i got one a few months ago from dana b goods. they gave me a fair price, and had it in my mailbox 2 days later. give them a call and see if they still have some.
Couldn't help but notice that the bass Robert was playing at the beginning was a German Warwick, whilst the one Andy was playing was the Rockbass line. Didn't Robert want to touch the cheaper ones :P
HOW MUCH!
surprised that this is a rockbass :O
My question is: If I don't want to use my fingers - can I still play?
Absolutely. You can play a bass many ways. Including slapping it like Rob does, using your index and middle fingers ect. But you can use a pick. A lot of bassists use a pick. Better control over the notes and it's louder.
song 5:27?
Oh look, I’m watching this fucking video again
My mistake, under the light the frets looked like Bell Brass, and the lack of a signature on the headstock put me off.
Have a Warwick thumb bass, great bass, can drop it, pop it, slap it. Always get asked to sell them my bass, but nope, never will part with my Warwick, CT and Birdsong
I'm a noob to this; what song is this @ 5:54 or it's just a solo.
Just a solo I think
+Cody kholeson it sounds somewhat similar to Slipknot's Eyeless
WOW What a ""Beauty"" and she sounds Amay--> ZING!!
he is to good to be in metallica
Shawn Huff too*
Very scary look alike to reigns :O
So is Robert with Fender or Warwick?
how does he do this? 2:28
Its called Slap bass, lel
i know, i don't know how he does the 'tagededa' fast parts
thomassegaert
Thumb - Left hand slap - Thumb - Pop
the face or the bass slap?
What hes doing is called "machine gun" rolls
I don't know about you guys but the first thing I'll do when I have some money is to buy a 6 warwick bass. If they don't make perfect instruments they're pretty close.
*hi all!*
*china or germany?*
Hi there, the Rockbass Line is made in China and the Masterbuilt Signature made in Germany. Hope that helps ;)
*thx!)*
as soon as i heard Every insturment is crafted in china, that was the end of the video for me.
Presented by Bob Fossil
The Robert has 5 strings
the many famous artists who use EMG pickups might disagree with that statement
this bass has EMG pickups and not MEC pickups
Yo te reto en guaymas sonora mexico mexicano vs mexicano por el puesto de bagista de metalica rober trujillo
Nice Bass !
My Address is ...
Robet is good
No offense andy, you rock. things like these sometimes just cheese me off a bit.
;)
How much and where buy this bass?
Hello Uziel, you can find all information about Robert's signature basses here shop.warwick.de/en/Instruments/E+-+Basses/Warwick+RockBass/Artist+Line+-+Robert+Trujillo
Rob plays 5 string version,Andy plays 4... logic...
such a good player, its a shame his talent is being wasted on metallica
oh well, he earned that million bucks.
so he should start a side project...then argue with james and fawking leave the band lol
James wouldn't mess with Rob Rob looks scary but is friendly Lars got mad at him and Rob said I'm your friend
Funny the guy reviewing the bass is a better player than the player it’s made for
i have this feeling that Andy plays Bass better then Bob
It is pretty much bollocks that warwick doesn't make a lefty streamer :(
*****
Well it's pretty hard to find a decent cataloque of warwick lefty instruments anywhere. I mean I've googled the shit out of it and all I get is misc stuff. Warwickbass.com doesn't have one pic of a lefty streamer bass.
Could you give me a straight link to warwick streamer pro series bass? I can't find this in your webpage.
hes sooooo much better than Jason its ridiculous
actually jason is far more precise that rob, rob is really messy and sloppy
just sounds that way bro because Jason uses a pick. All pick players sound cleaner but I am talking about skill in general, Rob is far superior with incredible range
Yeah I get what you mean, his infectious groove stuff was really good! I just think Jason was a better metal bass player
I like Rob. I mean damn you ever hear Orion played by Jason? Its damn aweful but thats just one jam, The only thing I give Jason is back up vocals, but bass Ill go with Rob even playing metal
Have you listened to newsteds new band ?
stupid camera man didn't even show Roberts playing, just his chest and bottom of his face... DUH
This is like Warwick doing the lowest common denominator. Alder body, EMGs, nickel silver frets. This is a Warwick Ibanez. Nothing wrong with it. Just not a Warwick.
just be grateful he has a job until now.dont judge what god do
"english writing by a drunk brazilian" Trujilo is very old!!
But it's a bolt on.......
As fast as he plays, sustain really isn't a concern 😂
On purpose nerd...
the second guy is better...METALLICA LEFTALICA

that bass is Brazzers for bassist
Too expensive for a mic instrument
that part 0:50 - 1:00 is just very bad
Can you play anything at his level? I thought not.
AnthonyPudduMusic Look him up in the band Infectious Grooves. He was(keyword) a great bassist until he learned how to play Metallica's shit...
whos your bassist? fucking Flea?
haha, the bass is made in China
The price tag of this rockbass is a ripoff. Why buy an instrument made in china when you can buy a solid Lakland, fender, Ernie ball ect. Made or assembled in the USA for the same price
Bullshit I got a 5 string warwick brand new for under 400 dollars.
