    Hey! This looks awesome and I'm racing the ISDE this year. I am totally green to desert racing...what was the 100 miler like? Is it 1 giant loop or do you have opportunity for refueling/etc...

    • @Randy_Cox
      @Randy_Cox  Рік тому +1

      The way it was laid out last year was 50 miles a loop. So there is a pit stop to fuel in the middle. 50 miles, pit and fuel up then go out for another 50 miles. It is a blast and I will be out there again this year. Glad you signed up your gonna have a blast.👍

      @@Randy_Cox Just read the OMRA rule book ;) Refueling is good to go! Time to rebuild my engine, and get my endurance built up.

    Good job ripping out there in the desert, Randy. I did the beginner class on my 2022 yz250x as it was my first race. Big propers to you for doing 100 miles out there and recording. Your new 250x looked right at home out there!

      Thanks dude. Great job on rippin the beginners class glad to have another dude out riding. 👍 The yz250x was the other bike I was looking at when I was looking for a new bike I just am not a good enough rider to rip the 2 strokes like they want to be. Good luck on the yz and get some footage of the rippin I would love to watch.👍

    I’m doing the race this year. Just started riding last year. I’m pretty excited. Do they let you warm up your bike?

    • @Randy_Cox

      Awesome dude glad to have ya come join in the fun. No. Part of an ISDE race is that you have to cold start your bike on the starting line. It is part of showing the reliability of your bike. Start cold, go 100 miles without anyone helping you work on bike.

      @@Randy_Cox I've done some heppner races in the past it's a different ball of wax compared to china hat. Not the sandy or high desert soil that whoops out, it cant actually be fairly muddy and slippery if it gets enough moisture. Still can be pretty rocky though!

    Nice job Randy, the legend, great vid, wish I could have been there. Interesting course, looks wide open and not many twists and turns. So as far at the race format did you only get timed on the special test sections and not the riding in between?

    • @Randy_Cox
      @Randy_Cox  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks dude i about lost it when the guy said the legend. 🤣🤣
      The ISDE format is confusing. So from one check to the next they set a travel time. So your job is to taken off and get to the check before or at the time. If you get there before your time you can get a drink, take a pee...what ever till your time comes. If you hit that time on every check then you get no additional time added to your day leaving just the times through the special tests. If you don't make it in time and leave late or early then that counts against you and gets added to the special test times. Lowest times win of course. The ability to ride fast all 100 miles comes in handy, a clock on the bike along with a time sheet with your times is handy and then be able to do math on the fly if you have to adjust your leave time.

    • @fivetwentythreepov
      @fivetwentythreepov 2 роки тому +1

      @@Randy_Cox wow that seems like a lot to keep track of, probably not bad if you did ISDE regularly but the first couple it would be a mess for me probably. What are you racing next?

    • @Randy_Cox
      @Randy_Cox  2 роки тому +1

      @@fivetwentythreepov ya for me once I realized I was too slow to the first check I just rode straight through and pretty much ignored the times, but that might of really hurt my time as I think I had 8000 seconds added to my time.🤣 but I don't know if it was just being to slow to make the check times or if I left early on any..
      Next race is gonna be the AMA West race in Hepner. This weekend is gonna be a free weekend as I do see any races happening. Probably go hit the local trails.
