Bought a used Holystone HS100 from a friend a couple years ago when he decided to upgrade. Great beginner drone, I've crashed it a hundred times, the landing gear are duct taped on, the gimbal motor is broken, but still loads of fun to fly and still works great. Well worth it to get into the hobby, but the quantum leap between it and the DJI Mini is insane, despite the minor price difference. If you're on the fence, Holystone will be more than enough to allow you to figure out if it's something you'll enjoy.
Man your choice of words, your explanation of everything is out of this world. You really cleared my mind on what I should buy now. I am a total beginner but now it is so clear for me. Thank you for this video!

From south Florida here. Thanks to your videos and all the information I went ahead and purchased the mini 4 pro recently. I have my part 107 cert but was waiting to finally pick a drone and get to practice flying it. I flew a friends drone years ago when it was just a drone with a go pro on a gimbal. Things have advanced so much its great. Thanks again for your videos. 👍
I can see one reason for drones with more reach. My brother and his wife are campers and hikers and the mid west, so they often would love to have a drone with high reach, to have a look for upcoming way… not worth a 1k drone, but still a good reason for a 250$ drone. And since my brothers wife loves doing pictures, that would fit perfectly
Thanks so much for this video - I don't often comment, but this was great! Straight to the point without wasting time, quick witted jokes slotted in, and real world advice and examples. I really appreciate content like this!
Definitely one of your more humorous videos. I have an Mavic Air 2 and I use it all the time for Real Estate. When I’m lugging around gear it’s a lot and I’m contemplating a Mini 3 Pro to get my load out lighter and smaller. Sensor it a little larger but smaller overall and I think higher chance of traveling with it.

Would you ever make a video about recreational flying and what guidelines you need to follow vs part 107 etc? I would rather watch you than anyone else on youtube. You get to the point with no BS and keep your audience entertained.
This video could not have been more to the point with exactly the information I was looking for. Excellent information and you explain things perfectly and calmly. Love it 👌
I got to say, for cheap drones I got one from a big discount tool store for $30. It’s paid for itself in hours of fun so far. It’s cheaply made, but flies well, and has survived multiple wall collisions. Can’t wait to get a real drone though, this little toy sparked an interest big time. Thanks for the info, I think I know what’s next now. Your dry humor is hilarious, and easily missed 😂
Excellent review and detailed comparison between the most popular drones. My favourite is the mini 3 pro which is packed with all the goodies for a reasonable price. Pity it’s not a 1” sensor. Here’s hoping for the mini 4 pro to have a 1” sensor, weight permitting. Once again, excellent review. You just added another subscriber to your list 😃
Great informative video. In China at the moment and was in DJI store in Chengdu yesterday. They were really helpful, even flying the Mini 3 Pro in store and allowing me to do so. After watching your video I think I’ll go for the Mini 3 Pro while I’m here, especially when it’s £218 ($277) cheaper than in the U.K.
Love the video, funny, no ego, very welcoming not pushing a particular brand, comparisons also telling people what to look for. Really appreciate it. Gonna full send the mini 3 pro.
Sir, I am only 4 minutes into this but I have to say, your honesty and reminder about your productions and editing is a huge reminder of what I'm going for. I'm just a dude who wants to play around with a drone and take some cool pictures and videos. I'll be just fine with the mini. Thank you for this video man. Really appreciate you putting the time in.
This is the best, simply the best. This answers everything I have ever been asked about my drones. I will forever refer people to this video if they want the best beginner information. Really, it is truly exhausting trying to repeat the same basic information to people. But I remember how I was when I first entered the drone world, sceptical of everyone and everything. If anyone in the "drone community" annoys me the most it is the anti Remote ID crowd. They cannot be reasoned with in my experience. RID is here to stay, get over it, I say.
Maybe you should read up a little about RID... Begin with the FAA "final" regulation. It's 476 pages. Then you can follow the actions carried out by FAA on the subject CBO and the development of how FAA is working around the formal procedures required for creating new hindrances for us. If you were aware of how this works and see the effects of FAA's actions you would be as concerned about RID as the rest of us.
I know it might be too much to ask, because you're busy with actual paid drone work, but your content is always epic, both in quality of info and the added humor. All the best! 😂
Aww, I love the Air 2S. It's only slightly bigger than the Mini 3 Pro but with a larger image sensor, extra collision detection and quieter than the Mavic 3. Plus it does better in the wind than the smaller drones.
Yes, Air 2S's wind performance is great. Mini 3 Pro's, not so much. I usually fly really slow and close to things and if there's a wind, the M3P's film will wobble. Thanks for great video, QAT!
Most poignant and comprehensive tutorial I've ever watched in my life. After I had an impulse curiosity on getting drones. Subscribed, liked and all that.
Dude just when I was talking to my brother about getting a drone this video popped up and I was like. Wow I don't have to look into multiple videos for questions I have. Awesome! 😂
I have a mini 1. Planning on upgrading to mini 3 or 3 pro. I was astonished on how capable the camera was for such a small drone. I think if it’s just a hobby the mini series is great and a lot of fun
"You show your wife, she don't really care" that cut real deep coming from a man who's hobbies include gaming, firearms and model kits of fighter jets and tanks
It's almost always that way. I do grafting of fruit and nut trees and while she loves all the produce, she doesn't care about the actual art that enables it.
Wow! I’ve had my Mavic pro since it was released and was my first proper drone. The big selling points at the time were its foldable and practical to take anywhere. How the drone scape has changed over the years. Flying recreationally and mostly just enjoying the thrill of flying in sport mode and seeing sights from a new angle. Camera quality wasn’t too much of a bother for me. Only now that I’m seeing your videos am I realising how far these cameras have come. Being 20 now. I have a pc so I’m going to start getting into some editing and I’m wondering if it is even worth trying to edit the Mavic’s footage or should I just get a new drone?
"Can't afford a $300 drone?..Get a job, I don't know what to tell you" 😆 loved that, so out of no where. Great video thank you!! My 13 yr old and I are going to start doing some footages of lakes where I'm going to be doing rentals for paddle boards. But the more I research drones, the more I realize it's a great way for a side business in many ways.
Not really bruh, kids, new house, new car, and maintaining the old ones. Maybe when I am paid off on my house and I work as an equipment technician. I can only imagine someone that makes less than $20 an hour
As an Air2s user for professional work, I felt a bit bummed that you left it out because I think it's a beast in its own regard but I understand. Thing about your videos is they hit differently. I can see you put not just time into them but heart as well. Thanks, and well done.
thinking about buying the air2s, looking into getting some footage of my sons football games also some fishing out in the pacific here in hawaii. You think this will be a good choice?
@@daddynowski Check your local regulations first, because here in Europe, you are not allowed to fly over crowds unless you get a special permit or permission. Even need to have a special drone pilot license. But the Air2s is a great drone, excellent quality footage, if you have the money btw, they already announced it's successor. the Dji Air 3
I am impressed by your collection of drones. What I am not impressed with is that DJI is seriously neglecting the brilliant Air 2S. DJI launched so many nice to have features lately, and the Mini 3 and Mini 3 Pro seem to get all the attention. If they could include all these features on the Air 2S, it will be at the top of everyone's list once again.
Even just a picture profile update i would be happy with, Why do we have so many updates around the air 2S but none for it yet, so odd. It sold well too
Your video rocks! You have a rare skill in sharing an impressive amount of knowledge in a concise, to the point, and understandable to all skill levels. I could’ve watched 5 other videos and not left w a clear picture of what I need out of my drone. Now I know exactly what to look for. Thank you!

EXACTLY what I needed to assess what I should buy for my price point. Thank you thank you thank you for this type of “buyers guide”. This was just as useful as you imagined it would be while making this video.
This video took me straight from "I wonder if I should ever get a drone?" to clicking "Buy" on a refurbished Mini 3 off DJI's website. Thank you for the "there's no beginner drone" segment because that was my exact question, thank you for selling me on the controller with a screen, and thank you for letting me know what was good for a professional and what was good enough for me.

You are definitely my favorite reviewer on UA-cam now. I love the humor, the fact that you tell us all the specs but let us know what's practical and aren't just things to brag about. And I love that don't you talk not a normal person instead of putting on that annoying Internet voice.
I’m wanting to get a drone once I’ve saved enough and this is the best video around! No messing about, just straight truths. It’s the same in mirrorless camera worlds which I’m sure you’ll know with people buying the most expensive and not knowing a thing about it. Thanks for the vid!

Shopping for my husband for Christmas who wants to get started in the hobby and I gotta say you made this whole thing not only less intimidating and easy to understand but entertaining af lol Thanks so much, i'm sure I'll be watching more starting December 25th!
😂 same. Although I don’t know if he wants me to spend $750 on the Mini 3 Pro 🤷🏼♀️
Sensor it a little larger but smaller overall and I think higher chance of traveling with it.
bro ive always loved drone photgraphy and you literraly reignted that passion after many year and so i said fuck it and copped the dji ini 3 pro. Youre really good at how you explain things and your personality fits so well with the whole industry (idk lol),. Ive always wondered how tf do people get drones from and why the drones i buy are so shit and so i search every budjet drone but you were staright up honesr said anything 300$ is a toy. you save so much time and i really appreciate you being on YT for everyone,
Such a coincidence that when I started to watch your video I saw an ad pop up of you explaining what is a good drone as well. Drone Webinar. 😮
The blazing fast speed that the IMPORTANT and relevant information comes at you from this video is amazing. I feel informed and encouraged to jump into owning a DJI mini with the Screen built in Controller. Like he said, it's the right time to get into the hobby due to the amazing advancements of Drone Technology.
Your vids are highly entertaining and ridiculously informative.
As an absolute noob in the drone space just starting off on this journey, THANK YOU!
I had mini 2 for over 2 years at this point and the quality is still on point.
Dude I just started looking for drone information literally found you as my first choice. I will not leave keep up with the humor I have not laughed so hard and learned so much so quickly on any UA-cam channel so far Great job Great content on my first video from you Don't change You you're killing it Thank you This is awesome😂😂😂😂
Why is this one of the best review videos I've seen 🤣 "I don't know what to tell you, get a job, I'm not your dad". And just for that... I have subscribed!
Would you ever make a video about recreational flying and what guidelines you need to follow vs part 107 etc? I would rather watch you than anyone else on youtube. You get to the point with no BS and keep your audience entertained.
Yeah I really ought to
I’m about to invest into a drone as a beginner and you’ve made it clear what to and don’ts Great advice thank you 👌🏾
This video could not have been more to the point with exactly the information I was looking for.
Hands down the best informative video I've seen on any topic. Concise, extremely thorough, humorous, and relatable!
That would be a huge accomplishment just to get it on a body that small but I would also crap my pants in delight
Video came at a perfect time! I've been using the original DJI Mavic Mini 1 for nearly 3 years now and desperately need an upgrade lol
I was waiting for you Dilly
Great informative video. In China at the moment and was in DJI store in Chengdu yesterday. They were really helpful, even flying the Mini 3 Pro in store and allowing me to do so. After watching your video I think I’ll go for the Mini 3 Pro while I’m here, especially when it’s £218 ($277) cheaper than in the U.K.
Only $277 from their brick and mortar stores? The drone alone is $669 in the US via their online store. I need that price cut. 😢
He said $277 cheaper. Read it again
Thanks TJ cool that you came back for more
Aww, I love the Air 2S.
I agree, I sold my Mini 3 for those reasons you outlined!
It is much louder than the m3, I have both.
@@nathanhassani5366 I dunno, it’s close! The Mini 3 is the quietest by far tho!
@@flywrightdrones the air 2s sounds like a buzz saw compared to the m3
Most poignant and comprehensive tutorial I've ever watched in my life. After I had an impulse curiosity on getting drones. Subscribed, liked and all that.
Dude just when I was talking to my brother about getting a drone this video popped up and I was like. Wow I don't have to look into multiple videos for questions I have. Awesome! 😂
Bro this guy’s videos are so well put together. Amazing!
If you've been following him for while you see many of the same cinema shots (but many are that damn good to reuse as b roll)
I have a mini 1. Planning on upgrading to mini 3 or 3 pro. I was astonished on how capable the camera was for such a small drone. I think if it’s just a hobby the mini series is great and a lot of fun
He is HILARIOUS. I died when he said something along the lines of “What prison you flying over to drop coke and Skittles” 😂🤣. IMMEDIATE subscriber
No bullshit, no begging for follow and a clear vídeo about the topic. Tks for this quality man.
I’ve just started to think about getting a drone. This video washed the floor of any other out there a very clear and gives just enough information.
"You show your wife, she don't really care" that cut real deep coming from a man who's hobbies include gaming, firearms and model kits of fighter jets and tanks
Feels bad 😢
It's almost always that way. I do grafting of fruit and nut trees and while she loves all the produce, she doesn't care about the actual art that enables it.
But, do you really care about her knitting, or romance novels, or shoe collection? Such is life.
Thank you so much for being straightforward and to the point. Really appreciate how you break down what's really important and what's over hyped.
Thanks! You saved me a lot time. With trustworthy advice. Keep up your excellent experance. VG!!
My man just flew a $8000 dollar drone in his living room. 😂
😂😂😂
The Dad in me went nuts...
With fan turned on
As an Air2s user for professional work, I felt a bit bummed that you left it out because I think it's a beast in its own regard but I understand. Thing about your videos is they hit differently. I can see you put not just time into them but heart as well. Thanks, and well done.
I agree probably beat value drone in the world and has almost everything. It's my dream drone.😅
The "1 sensor is what sold me for the Air2s.
thinking about buying the air2s, looking into getting some footage of my sons football games also some fishing out in the pacific here in hawaii.
Thank you!
I never comment on a video but this is the best video I have seen in months on youtube. Inspiring and very informative.
"Stop annoying everyone." No, go ahead, annoy me. I never had kids so this way I get my two to five year kid hit without the screaming.
Straight to the point, most of us I'm sure really appreciate that. I picked up the DJI Mini 3 pro.
Literally plugged in charging for the first time (my first drone) So excited!
Thanks! You just helped me make up my mind on which drone to buy. You gained a new subcriber today.
Even if I don't end up buying a drone, your video was worth watching all the way through. Sense of humor on point.
You won my like and watch by how straight forward and blunt you are. “If you can’t afford $300 get a job…” 😂😂
Not only that, but you provide valuable information.
This was the hugest help, now that I'm done romancing about a drone and taking the next serious step for my business... which will be my first drone. I loved your delivery. Straight to the point, your 'know how', and experience. I didn't need your dry humor for this but it cracked me up and I loved that too.
Rarely do I subscribe to a channel after just 1 viewing...I did a belly flop on both the like and subscribe buttons in this case...
This dude is all there and aware...the presentation was superb and I feel I skipped 1-2 years of expensive buying experiences in the search for a "sweet-spot" drone that will work for my level of interest...thank you for this straightforward tutorial...
In their field of expertise the ones to listen to are the ones that are effortlessly sardonic.
I learnt more than i realized.
Okay this guy is legit, straight to the point.
I`m not even into drones, and I think this is the best youtube video I`ve ever watched
You are definitely my favorite reviewer on UA-cam now. I love the humor, the fact that you tell us all the specs but let us know what's practical and aren't just things to brag about. And I love that don't you talk not a normal person instead of putting on that annoying Internet voice.
BEST SENSE OF HUMOR EVER
BEST DRONE VID EVER
I’m wanting to get a drone once I’ve saved enough and this is the best video around! No messing about, just straight truths. It’s the same in mirrorless camera worlds which I’m sure you’ll know with people buying the most expensive and not knowing a thing about it. Thanks for the vid!
I never hit the like button on a video on youtube but i just couldn’t ignore this one ❤
What a fantastic video. I wish all "tech content creators" were as knowledgeable as you are. This is a perfect information package for someone who knows nothing about camera quadcopters and wants to understand the basics.
I found your channel today and subscribed to it today 👍
After many many videos, I could not fast forward this one, could not pause to read the comment section! Thank you for telling all these for someone who doesnt have a drone but wish to!
*WOW this was all I needed to know in one video as I consider buying my first drone! GREAT JOB! Subscribed!*
Finally someone talking with honesty about this issue and without make any trick on brands.
Wow... Rarely does one get so much experience & expertise served in distilled form here on UA-cam. Thank you so much for saving countless hours of time. ❤
