What's contributing to their confusion is the fact that being raised they way they were, they simply don't have to tools to think for themselves. That, combined with the blind loyalty they have toward their father for partially understandable reasons, compels them to simply ignore the overwhelming evidence of their father's adultery, his murder of their mother and his conspiratorial actions in the murder of his mistress-turned-wife's children. For Daybell's children to come to terms with the reality of his guilt, they'd have to admit to themselves that everything they've ever believed--about their father, the world, and about the nature of God (as they were taught) may all just be a lie. Don't forget that Chad's strange and aberrant beliefs (rooted in LDS doctrine but taken to disturbing new levels), which one could only believe were shared by his mother since she helped publish his books, most likely also helped shape their children's beliefs. Growing up in the LDS bubble that they did with no, or very little other, input in their lives they are, in a sense "pod people". I don't blame them--it's all they knew. So they are dealing with the trauma of having lost their mother, and now possibly their father, and everything they thought was true about him and the beliefs he indoctrinated them into all their lives. And all that it is simply too much for the human psyche to deal with. So their coping mechanism is, quite understandably, denial. If they even once entertained the idea that their father did commit adultery, he did kill their mother, he did conspire to kill two innocent children, they would probably need to institutionalized and for good reason. That being said "the truth will set you free" and ONLY the truth will set you free. Not 'my truth" or my father's truth, or anyone else's truth, but THE truth. My prayer is that the children will be able to face THE truth that God so much wants to give them (not a distortion) and through that love and truth, they may find healing. They will also then understand their father is very much human and very much guilty. They can still love him, while also full admitting the evil that he did. The two are not mutually exclusive. As far as the LDS, I absolutely do know something about it. To begin with, my close friend grew up Mormon, though she is not one any longer. And also my stepbrother. The curious can learn more if they research for themselves. Most ppl tend to not explain religions that they know little about. I didn't see Tammy Daybell's children acting like "pod ppl". I only saw hurt and confusion. I'm under the impression that Tammy did a good job raising them, altho I didn't research their criminal background, accomplishments or how they treat their family, friends and community. It's so sad for them to lose a mother and father in this way.

What's contributing to their confusion is the fact that being raised they way they were, they simply don't have to tools to think for themselves. That, combined with the blind loyalty they have toward their father for partially understandable reasons, compels them to simply ignore the overwhelming evidence of their father's adultery, his murder of their mother and his conspiratorial actions in the murder of his mistress-turned-wife's children.
For Daybell's children to come to terms with the reality of his guilt, they'd have to admit to themselves that everything they've ever believed--about their father, the world, and about the nature of God (as they were taught) may all just be a lie. Don't forget that Chad's strange and aberrant beliefs (rooted in LDS doctrine but taken to disturbing new levels), which one could only believe were shared by his mother since she helped publish his books, most likely also helped shape their children's beliefs. And children, being children, are usually going to be molded by their parent's world view. Growing up in the LDS bubble that they did with no, or very little other, input in their lives they are, in a sense "pod people". I don't blame them--it's all they knew. (I will add that 99% of Mormons are not going to go about killing people for the reasons Chad and Lori did, as the whole "possessed by zombies" thing is certainly not a mainstream Mormonism belief.)
So they are dealing with the trauma of having lost their mother, and now possibly their father, and everything they thought was true about him and the beliefs he indoctrinated them into all their lives. And all that it is simply too much for the human psyche to deal with. So their coping mechanism is, quite understandably, denial.
If they even once entertained the idea that their father did commit adultery, he did kill their mother, he did conspire to kill two innocent children, they would probably need to institutionalized and for good reason. That being said "the truth will set you free" and ONLY the truth will set you free. Not 'my truth" or my father's truth, or anyone else's truth, but THE truth. My prayer is that the children will be able to face THE truth that God so much wants to give them (not a distortion) and through that love and truth, they may find healing. They will also then understand their father is very much human and very much guilty. They can still love him, while also full admitting the evil that he did. The two are not mutually exclusive.
As far as the LDS, I absolutely do know something about it. To begin with, my close friend grew up Mormon, though she is not one any longer. And also my stepbrother. But really, anybody can research the origins of Mormonism, the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith, etc. Just as they can any other religion and then decide for themselves what is or isn't true. Still, upon reflection, I realize a portion of my comment may have been not appropriate for this forum as it might only serve to offend those who adhere to LDS beliefs, rather than educate. So, I have removed that one divisive and provocative sentence.
@@jenk.6196 We are regular ppl that think for ourselves. No one is brainwashed. Most families do not force their teens to go to church. The Priesthood is taught to not show "undo dominion." I'm 63 yo now, joined in 1980 at 19. I've been active, inactive, active, excommunicated. 2 yrs later, I was ready to humbly accept forgiveness. I had a fresh beginning again, thanks to Jesus Christ. Think about this: A relationship With God (Father in Heaven) is like a personal experience; getting to understand how they feel as well as think. How does God feel about me? How about Jesus? Why? Open up your heart and mind to "experiment upon My words." You can't understand *secondhand* spiritual knowledge that comes thru faith and humbleness, understanding thru the "Holy Spirit, who teaches the truth of all things." Fact is, you're biased as all get out. lol It's ok. You are a beloved daughter of God. Try out *firsthand* a real sincere fresh start without opinions and see how it goes. @@lorielizabethwade7505 indeed, yes. The actual quote is “The love of money…” in 10 NKJV. In 1 Timothy 6:10 it reads “The desire…”. And I agree with both of these statements. Money in and of itself can do a great deal of good. However, twisted (or wrested) interpretations of Bible verses have been used for all sorts of evil purposes throughout history. And in this case, Lori Vallow’s desire for money is definitely evil, and she used her interpretations of her religious teachings to attain it.

Lori calls Mel *dark* as soon as she disagrees with her and questions her. Mel was very brave to do this, knowing how this duo operated. She could have been the next victim. I know some don't like Melanie , but it is easy for us to judge but we have all the information, she didn't. She had a genuine faith in her religion, she got pulled in without realizing fully how insane these two were. It happens . She did pulled herself out of it when she realized that something was really wrong with it all. What a tragedy this story is, it ruined and tainted so many lives.

It's "wrest" and means to twist as in to twist the meanings of Scripture.

I really believe Melanie was involved. When lori said “when someone who knows as much as you know” and Melanie denied seeing lori’s computer and Lori insists she did. On loris computer gad the list of light and dark people and all the dark people were killed.
