Used to mad about Roy when he sang with Karen black and the Nevada show band in the national ballroom years ago, he was very nice, heard a couple years ago he wasn't well, is he doing well now, would love to hear how is is👍
Never would have happened also agree lreland had won three or four twice in a row country couldn't afford amazing song just wrong time regardless family love and were so proud
In my opinion: Best song EVER in ESC 1956-2020. Why? For me this is a magical, atmospheric, wonderful song. So unique in many ways. Esp. the structure, which is not the usual "ESC-song structure". Very professional, with great use of guitar and saxophone (Mel Collins even!). Beautiful, amazing and well crafted song. I can hear it a lot, without getting bored. A mix of rockballad, country, gospel / maybe soul. A bit Queen / Chicago. Did well in the contest, even if it was of course my no. 1. Strange that this band were not even more huge in Ireland. They had a lot going their way.
Love this song and what a brilliant band. I remember seeing them play in The Drake Inn in Finglas after they did Eurovision and they blew the roof off the place, they where outstanding.
I have loved this song from the first time I heard it back in 88. That it placed so poorly on the competition was a testament to the actual quality of the song and the performance!
PURE GENIUS 👏👏👍 Honestly one of my Favourite songs of All time and just can't understand why it hasn't been more famous and Re Covered by someone recently Thanks a mil Eric and Roy 🤟
One of the better Irish entries, for sure. This is a good song, though it is a strong year and I’m not sure this holds up as well as my favourites from this year (Luxembourg, United Kingdom, Israel, Norway, Denmark)
It indeed should. And the Spanish jury agree with us. Way more interesting, innovative and good song than CD who just sung a typical euroballad after all
My dad will forever be a legend ❤
Roy Taylor RIP.
Yes he is a legend
Condolences to you and your family on your sad bereavement. May your father rest in eternal peace.
Rip Roy I remember them playing in the weavers in Drogheda many moons ago .
Should’ve won that year
RIP Roy Taylor what an amazing performance
I adore this song, from its gorgeous beginning to the powerful performance - especially Roy Taylor, what a voice! Awesome host entry from Ireland.
Roy Taylor RIP.
I remember singing this aged 8 on a school tour. Class song!
Great song, a fantastic lifetime achievement.
Rest in peace Roy
Everyone knows that this guy and his backing band are legends
Cracking song great singers
One of the best Eurovision songs ever. LEGENDS
My uncle Roy was the man on bass . He sang the second half of the song.
Eoin-the-drone what a voice. Hope he is doing ok.
it's actually spelt "BASS"...and i also had the privilage doing some minor repairs for eric sharpe around about 1985
@@alanludlow7995 it's actually spelled "privilege".

+Marino Bottali should _have_ won, even
@@lynnkeegan6579 3 in a row, 4 in 5 years (the «break» was in 1995, but won again in 1996, but not since).
@@lindakristinekjlibraten757in 95 the violinist (who was kind of the main performer) was Irish, though, so clever way of winning without winning :)

Where can I find on cd?
@@miekelgabriel7929 I don't know. But surely someone else can help?
The most memorable and best Irish song for many a year.
Song will shine on
Brilliant then Roy and brilliant to see you and Terence being warriors now. Big hug all x
Great song and Band, it brings back wonderful memories of Eurovision nights in my home growing up.
so good so feeling music
so clear ......

Love this song and what a brilliant band. I remember seeing them play in The Drake Inn in Finglas after they did Eurovision and they blew the roof off the place, they where outstanding.
Loved them great guys Roy had a great voice... Peter was so talented... Gentleman... Use to sing Desperado for me 🎤🎹🎸🎶❤️
What great songs eurovision used to have! Now it s only a show
This got quality on so many level. Very Queen-vibe. Love the religious feel to it. Great entry
I was thinking about Queen too omg
@@cgfischer Queen too. And Chicago :)
I thought about Queen too! That terrible beginning aside this was a great host entry
Most singers on the big Eurovision stage tend to struggle a bit with tuning not you Roy what a fantastic vocal.
Stay strong Roy.
I hope he will be ok again. Is there a cure for this?
Is he ill? Such a pity. Hope he will be OK
Rest in peace Roy what a class act😢😢
Better song than some of the Irish song s that have won it .In my opinion.
Better than all of them I think ;) But I think Ireland has won with some great songs too, at least 1980, 1994 and 1996 were wonderful for me
I have loved this song from the first time I heard it back in 88. That it placed so poorly on the competition was a testament to the actual quality of the song and the performance!
Should have won with Celine dion, or should have outright won.
8th out of 21 is far from poor, but I agree that it should've placed much higher.
PURE GENIUS 👏👏👍

What a song,what a performance
Good man Roy. Top notch
Rediculous this did not win in '88. Best ever Irish entry by a mile.
Ne partez pas sans moi by Celine Dion was a super song and brilliant performance. Deserved winner

Where did it come
Remember see them in Traders Pub in Walkinstown absolutely brilliant
RIP Roy Taylor
Love it
RIP Roy 😭 I was so devastated by the news today
The guy at the piano really reminds me of David Mitchell.
RIP Roy Taylor
Sadly Roy has passed away from Motor Neurons Disease
Bohemian rhapsody from Ireland
RIP 😢
Cry before dawn
Rip
12 points for you roy
Best song... best performance ever by Ireland and we didnt win... its a joke!
It didn't impress the judges well enough on the night
love this song, but a question... 1:55 - Who's playing bass?
I just pretend this performance began at 0:50. From then on this is a great entry
Amazing, it was a downgrade in 1989, basically they fucked everything up when they tried doing rock -ish style again.
Loved them great guys Roy had a great voice... Peter was so talented... Gentleman... Use to sing Desperado for me 🎤🎹🎸🎶❤️
