My late husband was diagnosed with cancer in his mid twenties. A rare cancer called leiomyosarcoma. We went to Vanderbilt for his treatment. They were phenomenal in taking care of all of us. We had two little boys at the time as well. They would do anything that helped make him comfortable knowing his cancer was already spread and there was no chance at survival. He was given two years at best. I wanted to look into eating healthy but his doctor (whom I love and will always be thankful for!) Said there's no use. She said eating healthy wouldn't change anything. Let him have his blue icees and chewing tobacco bc that would be comforting to him in his dying days. It never felt right but I was stuck between a rock and hard place trying to take care of him and my babies. He died 11 years ago and I wish I had known then what I know now.
