The scion tc is very underrated...
Especially the 2014
Good model year change
@@phage502 were the suspension changes that great?
The biggest improvement I know of was the chassis stich welding! I would imagine that could provide a dramatic increase in road handling capability.
I am 19 and sold my first car and a project to get a 2015 TC. Wanted something fun but also decently practical reliable and my family didn’t want something stereotypically “sporty”
But I absolutely love it. It’s great fun for every day, it’s decently nippy, looks great, and there’s a lot I can do with it. It’s one of those cars that nobody cares about until they drive their friends or own one then realize it’s great.
Get some ceramic tint for all the glass! Helps so much with ac and you can keep the sunshades open even in mid summer.
Oh wow, I never thought of that..I actually have some, I think I'll definitely do that! Freaking crazy how much heat that roof let's in.
@@BrunerTuner I had 5% on the panoramic roof and quarter windows + 5% brow for the windshield and 35% on the driver/passenger/ rear hatch. Makes a world of difference. I'd recommend doing a full 70% or 80% ceramic for the windshield. I had it done over time kinda a hodgepodge of grades but 5% on the rear glass = can't see anything behind you at night.
I can imagine so, I bet that helped a ton. The rear hatch would def be hard to see out of at night. Thanks man, I'll definitely be doing the ceramic coat soon.
I honestly prefer the tc over the frs, more space, and the styling is great and reliability! As these cars become easier to get more people are being great ideas to the platform
I think it will age well, the lines are very simple and not too radical. They are stupid reliable and simple, and should be fun for future generations. They definitely are super cheap, so I'm glad to see people bringing new things to the table!
I love my 15 tc. Comfy, snappy, reliable. Hits the curves amazingly. About to drop it 1" on trd coils with jnc rims.
All around great cars for sure. Nice man, gonna look great!
@@BrunerTuner Just put in my tuned ecu from snp_reflash. Cel delete for o2 codes, limiter increase, vvti tuning,, throttle response fine tuning,, and tuned to 91-93 octane. Lightweight pulley, second cat delete (replaced with ultra quiet resonator) full cold air intake. Sounds great. Much more power.
Dude, that's awesome. Snp_reflash..never heard of them, are they a TC specialist?
@@BrunerTuner he's on IG. Toyota specifically based in Canada
Thanks man, I'll look him up
Just picked up a 2011 tC this month and I'm falling in love with it very quickly. Stumbled across this while looking for info on the car and what i can do to/with it.
I'm missing a fog light as well, so it's great to see you unbox /exactly/ what I've been thinking about getting for myself, haha!
Awesome man, welcome to the family! It really is just such a great car in general. Let the modding begin! Here's the lights I bought: www.amazon.com/dp/B01N1MV6TN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_57QEXBXV659YCH9XD40S
Also have a 2011. Just wish they would have put in a 2nd backup light. XD
Dude that is a very valid complaint hahaha!
Just bought a 2014 tc w/ 170k miles after driving an 09 camry now at 480,000 miles. Agree completely, I just hate the lack of pockets/compartments to put stuff in like the camry, otherwise can't complain much and the engine doesn't burn oil!
Nice man, is it manual or auto? Any problems so far? Haha I can get down with my 6 cupholders though 🤣
@@BrunerTuner its a manual t., base tc, no fogs lights : ( still trying to I get the hang of the clutch, which is very well designed. I'm just just rusty on shifting ; )
@@BrunerTuner no problems at all just amazed at how well it doesn't burn oil. I do get a weird "pop" noise occasionally during hard braking. but it never seems to affect anything..
That's awesome. Yeah it's a well sealed motor, mine doesn't burn or leak. Fog lights are easy, as you see! Wiring isn't too hard, and it's cheap. Interesting.. I'd check all your bolts on your brake assembly and make sure it's all tight!
Can’t believe it came with a honey comb grille 🤤
Haha unfortunately it did not, I actually found that online at a junkyard from an RS7 and ordered it. Always wanted that piece 😅
I love my TC despite being slow compared to the si which is main competitor. My only issue is with mine being an auto but my 2014 trans under hard driving is pretty responsive. Handling is by far the best I’ve driven under heavy driving, it stays composed despite the understeer which is manageable(I do have Sportline springs which are night and day). I bought it as a fun college car and is almost paid off and its done well
It really does a lot of things well, it's a good all rounder for sure. Glad you're enjoying yours too man, thanks for watching!
My story is similar. First car died, but I went the FR-S route. Recently need a hatchback and picked up a tC. Great daily and great on gas. FR-S is now the summer fun car.
FR-S one was super tempting, I still want one , and will still probably get one. Only issue was I already had 2 other 2 door cars (miata and mr2) and needed a little more space. Very cool man, glad to hear you're enjoying it. Definitely a great all around vehicle!
@@BrunerTuner Definitely. Could probably find a use FR-S for a decent price. As for the tC, I going to build it back up to the 10.0 series it used to be and give it a forever home like the FR-S. To me, my cars are like my kids, but we all have our favourites. Keep safe out there.
A 10 series? Nice, those are so rad. I wish I had an RS car. That's awesome man, too many cars just used as appliances and cast aside, glad you're taking care of it. I have the same approach. You too man, thanks for watching and commenting.
@@BrunerTuner Ye in manual as well. Just lucked out. Runs fine but missing some of the 10 series and tC's features ie door stills and 10 series rear lip to make it a complete package.
Everything you said is the exact same reason I bought a 2012 and then wrecked it and then bought a 2015 RS 9. Still love my tC's forEVER
Both great cars, very different!
@@BrunerTuner lol sorry I meant they both tCs. I typed that badly but i was trying to say, I had a 2012 Scion tC, I wrecked it& then i got a 2015 Scion tC RS [RELEASE Series] I named him Lazarus, he's my babie
Whoops I read that wrong as well, I read FRS not RS. That's awesome man, that's the orange and black edition right?
Just bought mine. 07 same color as yours 108k miles original owner super clean
Wow that is definitely low mileage. Love the first gens too. Glad to have ya here watching!
Looking at TC my self. Quality work! I’m sure you’ll get many subscribers. I’m one as of today!
Cool man, you looking at the first, or second gen cars? Can't really go wrong either way. Really appreciate that man, glad to have you along for the ride!
also in the hunt for one..
Great cars, you Definitely will enjoy it if you get one.
Im sticking with the letters "TC" stands for "Toyota Celica". cuz it really resembles a 2001-05 Toyota Celica
Haha A lot of people say that, they're just the next gen of Celica!
Toyota Zela*
I recently got one and fell in love with its retro styling. I did the tC2 to 2.5 rear conversion and put some Rotiform LAS-R's with the Aerodiscs and I have to say it's DEFINITELY looks like a Celica now like little bits and pieces of almost ever gen you can find in the tC. So much so that I just rebadged mine as a Toyota Celica GT lol
Ooh I bet that looks amazing!!
The "Touring Coupe" acronym makes sense given the Lexus naming designations (GS: Grand Sedan, ES: Executive Sedan, etc.).
I think it's probably correct..it's funny to think about them labeling a teenager's car as a "touring coupe"
Im an old guy but I like my TCs.
Ive got a 2005 w automatic and a 2007 w 5 speed .
My 07 needs a clutch ( 190k miles ) but I plan on getting it done soon .
One thing to watch for , if buying them in the rustbelt , is rusted out subframes under the motor .
Ive seen a couple of them up here .
They really are great cars. I'm glad we don't have to deal with rust down here.
@@BrunerTuner Yeah , rust kills everything ..
I remember all my rustfree cars when I lived down South .
We're definitely very lucky down here!
@@BrunerTuner But I DON'T miss the Hurricanes , Tropical Storms and Tornados that we had in Texas ..😄
Lol truth! Weather here is an absolute mixed bag at all times!
I thought it meant track car. Learn something new everytime I tune in to one of these Tuning Bruner videas!
Well, you are an American muscle guy, so we can't blame ya! Education and for fun content, all in one.
i have a scionTc2012 barely 88k miles runs smooth. never had any issues. So far i have only installed coilovers
that's awesome man, such underrated cars!
The intro had me laughing! I love Dr Steve Brule. The new fog lights look so much better than the prior ones. Are they the same brand? Or did you go with a different one this time around? I noticed a huge difference in the yellow film between the new vs the old. Overall, great video! As always, keep up the great content!
Nice car. I like all the Scions. Just recently bought a XA. My son is going to buy another XA in the next day or two. Thank you for the video.
Same here, good cars. Very nice, the XA is a great little car for the money. Thanks for watching!
The car looks nice man! Your wheels look awesome. The only issue I noticed is that the stock airbox is actually more efficient than the hot air intake you put in. Would've been better off just buying a performance drop in filter for the stock box.
Thanks man! I love the wheel fitment. Yeah, in most cases you're going to find that the stock airboxes are most efficient. For me, however, I love the sound an intake brings, so that's the reason I usually end up running one. Thanks for watching man!
@@BrunerTuner Oh ok that's cool haha I enjoyed your video man!
Appreciate that man, thanks for stopping by for a watch!
Hey brother, just found your videos and wanted to shout-out those custom parts from a car guys garage. There really isn’t a lot of custom parts like that for the TC and I definitely am ordering the coil cover and battery cover for my ‘11 TC Battleship. Keep up the videos!
Thanks so much for watching, man. There really aren't, he makes killer stuff and I'm glad to have him backing our platform. Good luck with the build!
Heck yeah buddy. Great video and the shout outs. Appreciate it man. Keep up the great work👌
For sure my man, thanks for watching! Glad to give ya a shout out anytime, you make some 🔥 stuff!
Fun fact about the 2ar-fe. Stephen Papadakis of Papadakis Racing (has a video up on youtube about the engine too if interested just look up papadakis racing) has made 1,000 hp in this engine.
Yes, that's amazing, isn't it?!
Love the fuck out of this video man definitely subbing.
Hell yeah man, so glad you enjoyed it. Glad to have you, we'll definitely have more TC content soon!
Whoa, I love those taillights, mine are the clear see through ones, do you remember where you got them?
They're the stock ones! Since my car is the 2011-2013 they came with those tail lights
love my 2.5tc
Love these second gen TC's, just great all arounders.
Mee tooo! Got her back in October..😁
Lmaooo the fumbling with the glove compartment was me two days ago when i changed mine for the first time! 🤣🤣 i have an extra outlet for my charger so it sticks out and has to find the right spot for it lol
Dude, gets me every freaking time 🤣 gotta find that sweet spot for it to work haha
I have an ‘05 tC. And I love it. I just need to buy another lower grille. And some fog lights as well. It has 144k miles on it. Is there any suggestions I can also get for it ? Like what type of exhaust? It’s automatic Transmission tho.
Awesome man, those first gens have really grown on me a lot. I'd say look into a TRD exhaust, that's what I have for mine and I absolutely love it.
I picked up a 2014 tc for a good price and milage and I’ve gone through 2 transmissions in 30 k because of shady dealer… but it’s been running great since and I’ve put 50 k on it
Wow, sorry to hear that..I hear these transmissions can be a weak spot, so it may have been abused before you got yours. How many miles was it at when you bought it?
I had been looking for an aftermarket intake manifold for my 2012 Scion TC. I bought for 10K and a turbocharger was added with the purchase. The OE Intake is made out of PLASTIC and Im worry that the boost may damage that intake. Any suggestions will be appreciated,
Hey Hector, I have no experience or knowledge in that area, sorry! Wish I could be of some help
What wheels and tires are those as well as their sizes?
They are 255/40/18 and I think the wheels are 18x9.5 If I recall..
1:24 actual footage of my Jeep Wrangler test drive
I do remember this occurring, facts.
Where can I get those wheels?
Look for Avid av-6 wheels on Google, eBay usually has them
My brother has a 2014 tc and I love driving it. The one thing I hate about it is the steering feel, it feels like plastic
Nice, the 2014+ are cool looking. Yeah, it's a bit numb. It was one of Toyota's first (hell, one of the first market's) electric steering units. A bit vague, but it is nice and relaxed when you're not driving hard.
Also I have the same yellow and black boxes you have in the background✌️
Those things are great!! Use em all the time
I love my TC 💯
Shout out to another member of the family ✌️
I just bought a 2013 tc with 107k miles, what I should be worried about?
Nothing that I'm aware of! Mine has just been bullet proof. I'm at 140k miles. Only thing I've replaced have been hatch struts.
ik im late, but i was trying to find a car guys garage & saw he shut his business down, do you have anybody else you go to now?
Yeah unfortunately he shut it down. I do not, he's the only one I used!
Would a 2015 scion tc be a good first car for college or should I get something more modern?
Absolutely it would be a great car! It's practical, reliable, and will be a great car for a college aged person.
How many miles do you have on it? And how reliable is Been the manual transmission for you?? Thanks in advice great video!!
Hey! I've got 132k miles on it. Literally 0 issues at all, the whole car has been amazing. Original clutch and everything. Thanks man, appreciate ya watching!
I can vouche as well. I am the third owner and my car has 119542 km on it with OG parts and it keeps on ticking. The transmission and clutch is very forgiving.
The eb60 manual transmission sucks with its input bearing issues but everything else is fine
Yeah I've seen some people have issues, but luckily I've been totally fine. I think if you don't drive it like a dog, it works fine, but we'll see. Have you had issues?
Mine has a shaft bearing problem, where exactly is that? In the transmission or cluth becausr im not sure if its worth buying a new transmission for or clutch
It's usually called a throw out bearing, it's replaced when you do the clutch. Cheap part, but requires separating the trans form engine and might as well replace the clutch while you're in there.
I own a 2012 xB 9.0 RS - the tC is the only car I'll decide to get if I trade my xB. I've subscribed to see what mods I can steal for my xB
Hell yeah, thanks for subbing! We'll have more videos on the car in the near future.
Were the fog light’s lens you got Glass? Or Plastic?
Glass
Theres a 2012 scion tc at a dealer near my house, his asking price is 2,850 with 200k miles. Looks pristine but havent third party inspected it yet. What do you think
Wow that's cheap. Also on the higher mileage side, which wouldn't worry me too much..but it could be a salvage title car. I'd definitely say bring it to someone for a pre purchase inspection, but if it drives and looks well, I'd say go for it.
Drive it in the city and highway, drive it for a while before you buy, a lot of them had idle issues once they get to high mileage, mine does as well.
What year was the one you bought, was it a first or second gen?
Papa bless
Ik this is a very late comment but do you have a coolant temp gauge installed and if so do you have a name of where i can get a pillar
I do not, sorry!
Maybe I missed this but what’s the tire and wheel size and offset?💯🔥
You're good my man! I believe they're 18x8.5+35. It's been quite a while tho..
I went to TCC and I didn't even know about El Toro.
Lol, that shows how much passion and drive they put behind El Toro.
About to buy a 05’ TC
Very cool man, I love the first gens too. I'd love to pick up a cheap one someday.
Would you please please please link me those yellow fog lights? I was going to tint them, buttttt someone hit my tC in my driveway a few weeks ago and knocked my fog lights out of position. Now i gotta take the bumper off anyways so I just want to buy the new yellow ones xd
Crap that sucks! Sure thing: www.amazon.com/dp/B01N1MV6TN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_57QEXBXV659YCH9XD40S

@@BrunerTuner thanks so much I just got a 2011 and wasn't sure what fitment to go with, how do you find the 9.5s?
@@steazievarghese6340 nice man, welcome to the family! They're great, I have the tiniest bit of running on the inner fender liner at full lock, but fitment Is spot on with some 255's. I get compliments on the fitment pretty often. It gives the car a much more aggressive setup.
Nice
Thank you!
It’s the heritage for me.
Been waiting for this comment. Late, but as anticipated.
Coupé, French.
Coup, where chickens live.
Pedantic I know but it's the correct pronunciation, grammar pedantry syndrome.
Funny, I actually got my TC in a coup that I started a few years back in which we overthrew the Scion factory in an unlawful, violent, and intense seizure of the factory.
When did Hobo Johnson start a car channel?
Soon as he bought a camera 😂
The Chinese sure do know how to build a car.
They do, that's why the FRS is built on this chassis!
You mean Japanese
@@static_Tricolor_camry the FRS is a collaboration between Scion, a Chinese company, and Subaru, an australian company.
@@taylordarr3 I'm not following Scion is Japanese so is Subaru they are not made in China

Has anyone else had annoying rattling issues with heat shields on their tC’s??
Nope, not on mine..second generation or first gen car?
@@BrunerTuner it’s a 2015, so I’m guessing 2nd gen. Most likely my fault for getting an aftermarket exhaust lol
