The Scion tC is probably the most underrated car in the car scene right now and it just puts a smile on my face to see one like this someone putting in wrench time to open up some eyes and make the impossible possible.
Tomas Landeros Idk man stock they don't handle particularly wonderfully and the brakes kinda suck, it's also not very fast but I love mine and I wanna see how it is with some suspension, wheels/tires and brake upgrades!
MurrayTeeVee I have a tc. I have 8.5 width tires helped with the steering a lot and a custom midpipe and an rs racing axle back exhaust and its pretty quick with just that nothing insane but it surprises people on track.
Tomas Landeros I have a tC I just added a cold air intake and exhaust I just added a s pipe and to be honest installing new part for your car that make little faster i can tell the difference between the performance and I pretty proud to have a tC this can be fast it all depents how you work on it
Lol damn, I have teacher following me everywhere checking my spelling :) I speak 4 languages currently learning Finnish and sometimes I don't even know where some letters come from in my writing :)
i always enjoy the variety of drivers on the one takes. this guy seemed pretty chill just let you do the review but sprinkled in relevant tidbits when necessary.
i agree, but i also wonder if this guy was just scared/nervous. not only having someone drive his car, but being passenger in THIS car in particular, next to all those huge drops lol
I know this is an old video and my comment probably will not be noticed, but I got a chance last year to drive a buddies first gen TC like this with a turbo and 255 front tires, an LSD (not sure what brand) but he had it on fortune auto coilovers and had west end do the alignment and corner balancing he said. And it honestly handled better than any track tuned and set up Turbo Civic Si or otherwise (since that's the best comparison I could think most people would bring up). I mean it ripped in a straight line and almost zero torque steer thanks to the 1.5 way lsd. It made driving slow in parking lots a little tough and noisey lol, you would chirp your tires going into a parking spot going 2 mph's lol. But we drove it through hwy 138 near the 15 fwy in so cal between victorville and san bernadino, and the damn thing would actually throttle over steer with that lsd and alignment setup but very confidently and so smooth. It was a slight but over sprung but jesus it cornered like a true ground up sports car and was making just over 400 whp with a holset turbo that I don't know the specs of. Anyways what I'm getting at is, *You should get a properly setup Turbo tC first or second gen and do another take.* Just make sure it's actually done and not in between tune up stages aka not aligned or poorly aligned. And going LSD on something that makes a ton of torque like the 2az's and 2ar's do turbo'd is almost a must. Or you'll be torque steering all over the road.
If you can get him to let you on a track with this car it would be amazing. This is one of the craziest cars I've seen in a while. I don't really dig the 4 sound but you can't argue with power.
I had a tC as my first car and as a first car it's not that bad because of all the cool features (auto up/down Windows, full glass roof, OK gas mileage) but it's one of those cars I quickly fell out of love with because of the automatic. They make really good autocross cars when the roof is swapped out for a carbon one and all that weight is removed.
Dude, great stuff, but this was the one video I was legitimately scared to watch. That Scion was so squirrely in the canyons! If the owner ever gives you the opportunity, I hope to see this car filmed again with the alignment finished.
Fwd is more of a challenge , I own a prelude , and there's a Mountain in Cali called GMR , my cars on springs and has a think rear sway bar , I can smash all the way up and down ,, with some practice , but the first couple of times were scary ( under steer ) . I hit it with my friends 240 , easy , it has coilovers ( cheap ones ) . Fwd needs mastering
+Gabeloo240 I have a prelude with tein flex suspension and I prefer the feel of the FF that you point and go as opposed to FR you point and the rear follows behind.
I had a couple 80's Turbo Mopars when I was younger, those two always kept you on your toes, and confused the hell outta people with "faster" cars too.
BEAST of a TC. Show the true potential of the TC. Its used the same engine in the camry nice to see that engine can take BOOST. That engine has potential. Love to see built Toyotas models.
I dunno, people are saying they want to see it with proper alignment. But this One Take was amazing, I love cars with character and its amazing to see such a unique car.
Matt, this car looks like it gave you such a difficult time (either because of setup or road)! By far one of my favorite videos (second to the Morgan with Mr. Roy) because it looked like you were having so much fun! Keep up with the awesome work!
I still have my 2008 with the TRD Supercharger kit thats been rebuilt/modified with upgraded ceramic bearings as well as custom fabricated water to air intercooler and BOV. Has the NST 9.5 psi pully with full boltons, fuel pump, clutch, TRD LSD. Makes 250whp
He shaved everything off for weight reduction, awesome 330-50 hp on a Camry engine You can still buy one of these for $3-4000 and add $3-5000 of parts (turbo, coilover, wheelset, intake, header, downpipe, etc to make it faster. One reason why the car is hard to drive is because its an unbalanced vehicle. the weight distribution is off. The front is way heavier and the large heavy panaramic roof doesn't make anything better. I'm not sure whats the exact percentage. overall still a decent car for the price. i had the 2006 and it treated me well. especially the rear hatch that fit my two bicycles.
I love that this guy is not talking that much.. cool dude. Interesting car. I would typically discount the car right off the bat but it looked super fun.
Don't crash it bro. You might wonder why we put .5lbs of door cards on when we discard the inner door trims. Trust me, you won't wonder why if God forbid you crash it and slice yourself open on those raw metal door edges. The danger is real, please be careful mate and have a think about what your body does in a big accident.
Oh hey this car! I was pitted next to him at Autoclub a little while back. Super cool owner, and I think he took 1st in class, and won the season at redline time attack. Super humble guy.
This car seemed so raw, loved it. Usually you have subtle reactions and seem to be drinking tea while reviewing, this time it looked like you were worried about go off the road hahaha.
That "oomph" moment Matt had at 10:33 really says it all. And that steering wheel, did it have permanent fingerprint marks on it at the end? Damn, last time I grabbed a wheel that hard was in GT4 and that damn 100 Miles of Seattle race. I had a G27 at the time ...fun times ..fun times.
One of thee best videos yet Matt! Your reactions are priceless. Its great to see someone modify something to this level, out of norm. Props to Efrin. Would love to see a on-board video of this thing on the track.
I love these videos and will keep watching them for a long time. But who else thinks that it would be sweet if Matt was the passenger for the last like 3 minutes and watches the owner drive it. Just because the experience is different as a passenger and the owner would already be accustomed to the car.
I just bought one a few days ago I cannot waittt to get in this level! Mines completely stock rn and I just took to shop for diagnostic.. it has a long way to go 2005 for 3k😂🙏🏽
Matt's facial expression would switch from giddy to scared to extremely focused on some of those corners AND straights. I liked this one more than I thought I would.
TheSmokingTire I know and for me it's not a big issue. All audios have always been understandable btw ;) But people have bothered you so much about the quality in the past that it became a farce, something like the "coffee" (quality that has always been acceptable for me, I mean "hey you are in a car with road noises..not watching a political talk show" :P)
+TheSmokingTire it's nice that you're so cognisant of it but really the audio isn't bad at all. can't recall one actually. either way thx for these Matt. great fun to watch
No apologies needed man, at the end of the day you're pumping out some of the more enjoyable/relate-able content and at a speed above most others. The fans get what they're given with what you can produce, you don't owe them anything. If someone bitches about the lack of a drive by when someone with your experience & talents in this field hasn't included it, you've got to assume there's a qualifying reason :P great video, loved the 488GTB one, just gotta find a way to make my millions :P
This is one of the few one takes I actually watched in full. Matt actually was enjoying himself. If a car cant kill you then its not fun but hey that's me!
I definitely think this could be a whole other car with an alignment. It seems like a bad idea bringing such a powerful car known to be out of alignment to a road like this. I'd definitely like to see this on again with an alignment. The sound is intoxicating.
It's a great little car. I almost bought one back when they just came out. It was an excellent package at the time. The ride was great, and the sound deadening was moderately better than just about anything at its price point. That car was awesome to watch. There's something to be said about driving a sketchy car. You'll never get bored, but man it wears on you. There seemed to be a lot of steering effort. I doubt it has much to do with the steering system. Rather it probably has a lot to do with the alignment, the tire size, and whatever offset he's running to fit them. The scrub might be less than pleasant, especially if the alignment is messed up.
I really wish to see a video of this car properly set up because it seems like it would be a proper beast going round a track! Props on driving that thing knowing that the edge is so close!
This video scared the shit out of me, I thought he was gonna go off a cliff lol no wonder he's been through so many transmissions! The damn thing shakes like crazy
Initially I was going to  when I read the title of the vid, but after watching it though, I give a lot of respect. 1.) The owner has to be on his game when the boost hits as that car is a handful, 2.) He has a decent track day setup and upgraded to limited slip... but i'd honestly dial back the power to maybe 270whp (which is already enough), because if he's running DOT-R tires which it sounds like, spinning those while warm already means you have too much power. The giggle factor is at a full 10/10 though :D
I liked this video a lot, I think the only thing that would have made this better was footage of the owner actually driving it to see how he handles it in comparison to you, given that this was that challenging to drive. Great work though, keep up the good content.
The Scion tC is probably the most underrated car in the car scene right now and it just puts a smile on my face to see one like this someone putting in wrench time to open up some eyes and make the impossible possible.

I've never seen a driver look more terrified and a passenger look more calm lol.
exactly , this was so entertaining lol
I see many people get that way when they're in the passenger seat instead of driving the car.
+supernova1976 How the hell did you spell entertaining correctly besides the first letter?! So close dammit!
Lol damn, I have teacher following me everywhere checking my spelling :) I speak 4 languages currently learning Finnish and sometimes I don't even know where some letters come from in my writing :)
Now corrected, thank you :) my spell checker was off lol
People talk shit on Scions but when you do a proper suspension, wheel, and turbo setup, they're super fun cars. This was pretty entertaining.
oh heck no!...it couldn't drive that thing with those cliffs right next to me!....Matt you are certified crazy!
+Audiwan Kenobi ikr
+Audiwan Kenobi I was too scared even watching that video
+Audiwan Kenobi Thought the same thing
same here. the handling doesn't look that good at all in this car. too much hp and no handling.
I would. That is what I call living to the fullest.
Please do this car again with a proper alignment set up
agree.
I have a hard time believing that would solve the issue. He's still going to risk falling off a cliff
+Notorious HZ It should make it more drivable at least he did say it has positive camber lol
+LoBoost Why didn't the driver take the car to a local shop a few hours before meeting Matt? It doesn't take that long for an alignment.
+LoBoost i think its his reverse stagared wheel setup
Seeing what's possible with my car warms the cockles of my heart

He usually does 150 in it. I doubt he was all that nervous.
This might be the craziest car ive seen you drive surprisingly. It looked insanely quick for the 350hp it has
